Warnings From The Word Of God About Money

Warnings From The Word Of God About Money
1) The Limitations Of Money

The Word of God tells us that money by itself is not evil; the love of money is the root of all evil. 1 Timothy 6:10 says For the love of money is the root of all evil; which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. Everyone has to make a choice; Either you will love and worship the Lord Jesus or you will love and worship money and this world. Matthew 6:24 says No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon (riches and money). Right now get saved and choose Jesus instead of this troubled world with the love of money that ends in misery and death. Repent, decide to stop sinning, confess everywhere that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

Avoid gambling at the casinos and buying lottery tickets where people only think about and worship money. People playing slot machines and the roulette wheel in casinos and people who buy lottery tickets daily only worship and think about money with no thought about Jesus. In fact the Word of God defines idolatry and covetousness as the greed for money. Therefore avoid casinos that promote idolatry with the love of money; You don't see ministers in casinos preaching the Word of God because gamblers rejoice about money instead of the Lord Jesus. Today choose to love the Lord Jesus by reading the Word of God daily, attending a local church, praying, and witnessing about Jesus everywhere.

Notice Solomon's warning about the love of money at Ecclesiastes 5:10 that says He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase; this is also vanity. When goods increase, they are increased that eat them; and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes? The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much; but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.

But according to the Lord Jesus, there is a way to be wealthier than a billionaire. According to God's Word at 1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain (greater than all silver, gold, and money in this world). For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment (clothes) let us be therewith content. Therefore when you are happy with the Lord Jesus and His Word (that is Jesus) you are richer than the wealthiest billionaire tycoon on this earth. In other words, money has limitations and can not give anyone eternal peace; only Jesus can give anyone eternal peace that passeth all understanding. Jesus promised at John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

The Word of God tells us that money only gives people temporary pleasures that fade away. Proverbs 23:5 warns Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.  But the pleasures with Jesus are for evermore. According to Hebrews 11:25 the pleasures of sin with money only last for a season. But Psalm 16:11 promises Thou wilt shew me the path of life. In thy presence (Lord Jesus) is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Choose pleasures for evermore with Jesus instead of the fading pleasures for a season from the love of money.

Read the following limitations about money; Remember, there are some things money can buy but there are also many things that money can not buy. Money can buy a house, but not a home. Money can buy a bed, but not sleep. Money can buy a clock, but not time. Money can buy a book, but not knowledge. Money can buy food, but not an appetite. Money can buy you friends, but not love. Money can buy clothes, but not beauty. Money can buy medicine, but not your health. Money can buy amusement, but not eternal joy with Jesus. Money can buy luxury, but not peace. And money can buy a passport to everywhere on this earth, but it can't get you to heaven.

Note The Worthless Endless Cycle From The Love Of Money

Paper makes money; Money makes banks
Banks make loans; Loans make poverty
Poverty makes rags; Rags make paper
Paper makes money

Warnings From The Word Of God About Money
2) The Language Of Money

Did you know that money has a language and talks? Ecclesiastes 10:19 says A feast is made for laughter and wine maketh merry, but money answereth all things.  This is why people in the world say money talks. For example if a man tells a truck driver to move his truck and the truck driver says No. When the man pulls out a $100 bill to pay the truck driver to move his truck, the truck driver will say Yes I'll move the truck right away. Money talks and persuades people to obey any command. But when you get saved with Jesus like Brother Bob who had to choose between millions of dollars from my family or Jesus, Jesus is better and Brother Bob chose Jesus with eternal peace.

Even Though Money Talks
Money Has Limitations

Money talks but it doesn't stay around long enough
to hold a conversation

Money talks and says Bye Bye
As soon as you get a hold of it, its gone

Some people spend half their life trying to get money and the other half of their life trying to stop people from taking their money. This reminds me of the rich fool who died after he built bigger barns to enjoy his food and be merry. Luke 12:16 says the ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do; I wlll pull down my barns, and build greater, and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

Don't Be A Stingy Rich Fool
Instead Invest Your Money In Something For God
Use Your Money To Bless Poor People, Widows, And Orphans

Remember the best way to use your money is to invest it in something for God. Give your money to poor people, widows, and orphans. Remember Luke 6:38 says Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Have pure religion in your life according to James 1:27 and visit the fatherless (orphans) and widows in their affliction, and keep yourself unspotted from the world. Jesus told us that we will have eternal treasure in heaven (defined as the storehouse where tithes are sent) when we give to the poor at Mark 10:21.

Warnings From The Word Of God About Money
3) The Loss Of Money During The Tribulation

According to Ecclesiastes 7:12 money is called a defence (defined as a shadow that is temporary and fades away). Don't trust in your money to save you from trouble. During the tribulation in the future Ezekial 7:19 tells us They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed; their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord; they shall not satisfy their souls; neither fill their bowels; because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

Kings and rich men living during the seven year tribulation will try to hide their money in underground dens, caves, and tunnels. Revelation 6:15 says And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains. And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him (Jesus) that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb. For the great day of His wrath is come, and who shall be able to stand?

Notice what God will say to rich fools who trusted in their money for salvation at James 5:1. Go to now ye rich men, weep and howl, for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your gold and silver is cankered and the rust of them shall be a witness against you and shall eat your flesh as it were fire; Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. These rich fools will learn that their money will be worthless in the day of the great wrath of the Lord during the tribulation.

Notice how the Word of God warns people to not trust in uncertain riches. 1 Timothy 6:9 says But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 1 Timothy 6:17 says Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded; nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy. And Proverbs 11:4 says Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

Notice what Cornelius Vandebilt (the richest man on earth in 1877) said about money. Cornelius Vanderbilt said I don't care half so much about making money as I do about making my point, and coming out ahead. The love of money did not bring happiness to Cornelius Vanderbilt who said when he died, "The cares and worries of two hundred million dollars are too much for any man to carry. It's not worth worrying if investment deals will succeed or result in large losses".

Remember A Little With Jesus' Peace Is Better
Than The Riches Of Many Wicked

The Word of God tells us that a little with the peace and contentment from Jesus is better than the riches of many wicked. Psalm 37:16 says A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. Proverbs 15:16 says Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith. Proverbs 16:8 says Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. Remember little is much when God is in it. One person plus Jesus is more powerful than the mightiest army on this earth.

Don't be like the rich young ruler pictured above who chose the love of money instead of Jesus. Notice that the love of money made the rich young ruler sorrowful. Even though the rich young ruler did not commit adultery, kill, steal, or bear false witness, he refused to follow Jesus and give his money to the poor which only made him sorrowful (Luke 18:23).

Warnings From The Word Of God About Money
4) Lessons About Money From Simon
And The Lame Man At The Beautiful Gate

Now let's learn some lessons about money from two bible characters. First notice that Simon the sorcerer tried to buy the Holy Ghost from Peter with money. Peter told Simon at Acts 8:20 Thy money perish with thee because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part not lot in this matter; for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Simon learned that there isn't enough money stacked high all over this earth to buy the blessings of God with Jesus. You can't buy the Holy Ghost with money. Your money can't save you. Only trusting in Jesus by faith can save anyone. You don't pay money for the gift of salvation. You receive the gift of salvation by faith. Ephesians 2:8 says For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Next, the lame man at the Beautiful gate learned that the Lord Jesus with the joy of walking, leaping, and praising God was better than alms of silver and gold. This lame man rejoiced when Peter said at Acts 3:6 Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee; In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. We learn from this story that a poor man can have the blessings of God without a dime in his pocket.

Notice what Henry Ford had to say about the love of money. Henry Ford said I was happier when I was doing a mechanic's job making a meager wage. Henry Ford realized that his money wasn't the source of his happiness. When the Titanic sank, a millionaire's $300000 stored on the Titanic could not save his life. This man learned that his money was like fools gold that appeared real but in the end was worthless.

Read The Wise Words Below About Money's Testimony

Dug from the mountainside or washed in the glen
Servant am I or master of men
Earn me I bless you; Steal me I curse you
Grasp me and hold me and evil shall possess you
Lie for me, die for me, covet me, take me
Angel or devil, I'm just what you make of me

I close out this bible study by stating again that money is not bad; the love of money is the root of all evil. We need money to buy food, pay rent, and bless poor people. But remember don't trust in money to save you from the troubles of the earth. Put your trust daily in Jesus Christ crucified to overcome this troubled world. Psalm 62:10 says Trust not in oppression and become not vain in robbery; If riches increase, set not your heart upon them. Remember that Mark 4:18 warns that trusting in deceitful riches will choke out the Word where that person will become unfruitful.

Don't be like Achan pictured above who loved money and died because he hid a Babylonish garment, 200 shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold worth 50 shekels in his tent (Joshua 7:20-26). Instead choose to daily trust the Lord Jesus for your needs without money and get all your needs met with great peace and blessings. Right now rejoice and say Isaiah 55:1 Ho every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye buy, and eat; yea, come buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

I pray in Jesus name that this little bible study blesses multitudes all over this earth with great joy, peace, and strength.
