How To Act Like Kings With Jesus According To The Bible

1) Kings Should Read God's Word Daily For Their Entire Life

     After salvation, christians are called kings and priests with our Lord Jesus. Revelation 1:5-6 says And from Jesus Christ who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto Him that loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood. And hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father, to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.  Saved friends everywhere, since we are called kings with Jesus, let's see how the bible says kings should act. God wants us to live as kings in victory (not as paupers, defeated victims, or losers).

     First a king should read God's Word daily for strength and peace. Let's study the instructions given to kings at Deuteronomy 17:18; And it shall be when he (a king for Jesus) sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests and Levites. And it shall be with him and he shall read therein all the days of his life (kings for Jesus need to read God's Word all the days of their lives) (next notice the benefits christian kings receive for daily reading God's Word) that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes to do them. That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren and that he turn not aside from the commandment to the right hand or to the left to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children in the midst of Israel. 

     Notice that when christian kings daily read God's Word, they will prolong their days and their childrens' days. Saints it is very important to daily read and memorize God's Word because God's Word (that is Jesus) is greater than the name of Jesus according to Psalm 138:2 that says I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth; for thou hast magnified thy Word above all thy name. Right now become a king for Jesus that prolongs his days and get saved reading a KJV bible daily: Repent, decide to stop sinning, confess everywhere that Jesus is God, and believe in your heart the gospel that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

2) Kings Must Leave Their Hearts In God's Hands

     Second kings must leave their hearts in God's hands. Proverbs 21:1 says The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord as the rivers of water; He turneth it withersoever He will. Saved christian kings shouldn't trust their own hearts because Jeremiah 17:9 says The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; Who can know it? Instead christian kings should give their heart and their entire life (their mind, hands, feet, and everything) to the Lord Jesus. 

     In other words, when making decisions, don't react; instead tell Jesus in prayer about your decision and wait for God's peace that is yes to move forward with your decision. If God gives you no peace about your decision, God says no and don't move. This is stated at Philippians 4:6 that says Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving; let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 

     Act like a king for Jesus and leave your heart in God's hand. Don't be a fool and trust in your own heart and suffer trouble. Proverbs 28:26 says He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool; but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. Instead of trusting in your own heart that leads to sin and death, trust in the Lord Jesus by giving your heart to Jesus and receive peace and life. Notice the instructions given by Romans 6:13,16; Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin; but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. Know ye not that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey; his servants ye are in whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death or obedience unto righteousness.

3) Kings Find It Honourable To Search Out A Matter

     Third kings find it honourable to search out a matter. Proverbs 25:2 says It is the glory of God to conceal a thing; but the honour of kings is to search out a matter. God likes to hide things so He can reward christian kings who diligently seek Him. Keep reading God's Word (that is Jesus) daily that is like searching for valuable treasure. Colossians 1:27 says To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. In fact Jesus and God's Word is better than the greatest treasures on this earth; Right now rejoice and say Psalm 119:162 I rejoice at thy Word, as one that findeth great spoil.

     If you daily keep abiding and seeking for Jesus in His Word diligently, Jesus will reward you with wisdom, peace, and joy. Hebrews 11:6 promises But without faith it is impossible to please Him; for he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. And if christian kings daily abide and live for Jesus (denying sin daily), they will get all their prayers answered. This is promised by John 15:7 where Jesus said If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

     Act like a christian king and daily search out wisdom from God's Word. God's Word is like a christmas present that is always new every time you read a bible verse. You won't get bored reading God's Word daily because the wisdom of Jesus is infinite. John 21:25 says And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. 

     Be a christian king and always be open to learning new blessings from the bible. Like Brother Bob say the more I know the less I know. This is because 1 Corinthians 8:2 says And if any man think that he knoweth anything, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 says But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit; for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. In other words, be a christian king and keep seeking to learn the deep mysteries of God's Word that will be revealed unto you by the Holy Ghost.

4) Kings Don't Give Strength To Wicked Women Or To The Things Of This World

     Fourth, let's learn how to act like kings for Jesus from the wise advice of King Lemuel's mother at Proverbs 31:1-9. King Lemuel's identity is uncertain but Jewish evidence says that Lemuel is Solomon taking advice from his mother Bathsheba. I believe this is correct even though Bathsheba sinned by committing adultery with King David. Bathsheba is listed in Matthew 1:6 as the blessed great grandmother of our Lord Jesus. The blood of Jesus washed away Bathsheba's sins and recorded her blessed godly advice to King Lemuel in the bible. 

     Proverbs 31:1 says The words of King Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him; What my son? and What the son of my womb? and what the son of my vows? Give not strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings. Notice that according to Bathsheba, christian kings should not give strength to wicked women or to the things of this world. Usually the two things that ruin most men are wicked women and the love of money with the things of this world. Unfortunately Solomon did not obey his mother's advice and allowed 1000 heathen women to have him worship idols and forget God. 

     Notice how Deuteronomy 17:16-17 speaks about Bathsheba's godly advice. But he (a king) shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt (a type of the world), to the end that he should multiply horses; forasmuch as the Lord hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way. In other words, christian kings should stay with Jesus and not return to the sins of their worldly past. Then Deuteronomy 17:7 says Neither shall he (a king) multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away; neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold. In other words christian kings should not allow wicked women and money (gambling and lottery tickets) to cause them to forget Jesus and the Word.

5) Kings Protect Their Minds By Abstaining From Liquor, Wine, And Beer

     Fifth, christian kings protect and preserve their minds to remember God's Word by abstaining from liquor, wine, and beer. Bathsheba told King Lemuel at Proverbs 31:4-5 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes strong drink; Lest they drink, and forget the law and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted. In other words, christian kings must not drink liquor, wine, or beer that makes people forget Jesus and the Word of God. Don't let alcohol ruin your mind. 

     Proverbs 20:1 says Wine is a mocker; Strong drink is raging and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise (notice that according to 1 Corinthians 1:30 Jesus is wisdom; therefore drinking alcohol will make people forget Jesus and create trouble). Proverbs 23:29-32 says Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.

6) Kings Use Their Position To Bring Salvation To Lost Sinnners

     Sixth, christian kings use their position to bring salvation to lost sinners. Bathsheba told King Lemuel at Proverbs 31:8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. In other words, be christian kings and open your mouth while you witness Jesus everywhere to save lost sinners who are appointed to destruction. Hebrews 9:27 speaks about the destiny of lost sinners saying And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment (the great white throne judgment where unbelievers in Jesus are cast into the lake of fire's destruction).

     Obey Bathsheba's advice and be a christian king witnessing Jesus to lost sinners to save them from destruction. Proverbs 11:30 says The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life and he that winneth souls is wise. Jude 22-23 says And of some have compassion, making a difference. And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. 

     I pray in Jesus name, we all obey Jesus' command at Luke 14:23 and Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. Take heed to King David's advice at Psalm 126:6 that says He that goeth forth and weepeth (Are you weeping for lost sinners trying to save them?) bearing precious seed (sending the Word of God everywhere over this internet to save lost sinners) shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves (lost sinners won to Jesus) with him. Finally remember that Jesus rejoices when a lost sinner gets saved; Jesus said at Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God (Jesus rejoices) over one sinner that repenteth.

7) Kings Use Their Position To Bring Sympathy

     Seventh, christian kings use their position to bring sympathy. Bathsheba told King Lemuel at Proverbs 31:9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy. Be a blessed christian king that pities and considers the poor. Proverbs 19:17 says He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord and that which he hath given will He pay him again. In other words, if you take time to listen to poor people (pick up the phone and say kind words to everyone) and help them buy food, clothes, and pay rent, you are on God's timeclock and God will pay you for just pitying and considering the poor. Notice that the bible says you don't have to pay the poor (just pity the poor) and Jesus will pay you for your kindness. 

     Next notice the seven blessings you will receive for considering the poor. Psalm 41 promises Blessed is he that considereth the poor; the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. Remember according to James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.   

     Finally, note the wise advice to kings at Proverbs 20:28 that says Mercy and truth preserve the king and his throne is upholden by mercy. Remember show mercy to everyone, even your worst enemies. Don't be bitter and hold a grudge. Remember Brother Bob's motto for success; Avoid angry people and forgive forever. Bitterness is a trick of the devil that troubles a person and harms everyone around them. Hebrews 12:15 says Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.

How Atheist Doctor William Paton MacKay Got Saved

And Wrote The Blessed Hymn Revive Us Again

     William Paton MacKay pictured above was born in the year 1839. At the age of 17 he left for college. His mother was a very godly christian woman who didn't want William to go to college for fear he was heading down a path of destruction. But she turned him over to the Lord and let him attend college. Before his departure, she gave William a bible to take with him and on the front page of the bible she wrote his name, her name, and a bible verse. William's mother told her son that she would pray every day for his salvation.

     William left for college and then went on to the University Medical school where he began to travel with the wrong crowd. One day in a drunken spree, William pawned his mother's bible for money to buy liquor. He wandered away from what his mother taught him at home. William went on to become a successful doctor. Forsaking his upbringing, he became a committed infidel and was even elected President of a society of atheists in the city. 

     But God had a plan for William Paton MacKay. One day an accident victim came into his hospital and was under Dr. MacKay's care. The patient, learning that he only had a few hours to live, asked Dr. MacKay, "Will you please send for my landlady and ask her to send me the book"? The doctor agreed, and within a few hours the landlady arrived with the book. It was the dying patient's bible.  

     Within a short time the patient died. Dr. MacKay was curious about the kind of book the patient requested. Dr. MacKay asked his nurse "What was the book that this dying patient asked for? Was it his bank book or his date book"? The nurse replied "No it was neither of these? It is still under his pillow. Go look." Dr. MacKay reached under the pillow and pulled out the book.

     When he opened it his eyes fell immediately upon the front page of the bible. To his amazement it was the very bible he had received from his mother that he had pawned years before. He saw his name, his mother's name, and the bible verse that she inscribed. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 

     Dr. MacKay was so overwhelmed that he slipped the bible under his coat and rushed back to his private office. It was there in that office that Dr. MacKay who was a wicked infidel and atheist fell to his knees praying that God would have mercy on him and save him. He asked the Lord Jesus to forgive him for his sinful life and got gloriously saved because of his mother's daily prayers. Like Dr. MacKay, friend reading this anywhere, no matter how bad your past sins were, you too can be saved. Repent, decide to stop sinning, confess everywhere that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again. 

     After salvation, Dr. MacKay immediately contacted his mother to tell her how God used her bible to dramatically answer her prayers and save his soul. Then by the grace of God, William Paton MacKay a world renowned doctor became a preacher, well known author for Jesus, and a songwriter. Grace Grace God's Grace; Grace That Is Greater Than All Our Sin

 

Five Types Of Grace

1) Saving Grace

     The first type of grace is saving grace. Ephesians 2:8 says For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast. Saving grace occurs when you by faith believe the finished work done by our Lord Jesus at the cross of Calvary. Right now be saved by grace; Repent, confess everywhere that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again. 

     Remember saving grace occurs when you trust in Jesus alone to get to heaven. Good works, church attendance, twiddling the rosary beads, kissing the pope's big toe, or getting baptized won't save you. Just because I walk down an aisle and shake a six foot spiritual icicle's hand, answer some questions, do some good works, get dunked in the pool, and blend in with the crowd won't save me. The truth is simply stated at 1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son (Jesus) hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God (Jesus) hath not life. Trust Jesus and go to heaven; Trust anything else and go to hell.

     One time a woman told a preacher "We're all working to get to the same place". The preacher replied "Yes, and you're gonna make it if you aren't careful". Remember Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. You get wages when you sin that is death and everlasting hell. Instead of working to get the wages of death and hell, don't work and by faith with your heart receive the free gift of God that is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Good works occur after salvation that are rewarded after the rapture at the bema judgment seat for saints. Jesus said at Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly (at the rapture), and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 

     Grace gives us boldness to approach the throne of God without guilt where the blood of Jesus removes our sins forever. Be comforted right now and say Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. After salvation with Jesus, how comforting to say but for the grace of God where would I be? But for the grace of God, Brother Bob would either be in jail, on dope, or dead in a grave. The grace of Jesus saved Brother Bob from drinking, stealing, gambling, and prison and delivered me from a life with gangs and gambling in Atlantic City. Almost all my former sinful friends without Jesus are either in jail or dead. Friend where would you be but for the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ? 

Your worst days are never so bad 

that you are beyond the reach of God's grace

And your best days are never so good

that you are beyond the need of God's grace

     Once there was a Norwegian violinist who was an expert violinist and the best in the world. One day this violinist got lost in the woods. While walking through the forest, he found an old man's house. The violinist entered the old man's house and began to talk to the old man. On the shelf was an old scratchy, beat up violin; It had cobwebs on it with old strings. 

     The master violinist said I like your old violin; The old man replied, That violin isn't much, It just squeaks and can't keep a tune. The master violinist told the old man "Let me try to play that old violin". He took that old violin, wiped off the dust, and tuned the old violin. Then he took a bow and began to play that old violin. When he played, the most beautiful music filled the room. The old man said I can't believe that old sorry good for nothing violin is producing such beautiful music and a wonderful melody.

Five Types Of Grace

2) Schooling Grace

     The second type of grace is schooling grace. Titus 2:11 says For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men; Teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world. In other words the grace of God teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world. Twas grace that taught my heart to fear and grace will lead me on. 

     After salvation, you enter the school of God's grace where the Holy Ghost teaches you the Word of God. In God's school of grace there are no graduates walking on earth because we forever learn the infinite wisdom of the Word of God. John 21:25 says And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world could not contain the books that should be written. 

     Since God's Word and wisdom is infinite, don't say I know everything about God's Word. Instead say The more I know the less I know always seeking to learn more about God's infinite Word. God's Word is like the ocean pictured above; We only know the foam at our feet but endless infinite wisdom from God's Word can be seen by the vast oceans of water beyond our sight. Take heed to the warning at 1 Corinthians 8:2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. Thank you Lord Jesus for your blessed Word that's like a christmas present; Every time we open the Word, there is always something new to learn to give us joy, peace, and happiness.

3) Sufficient Grace

     The third type of grace is sufficient grace. Jesus said at 2 Corinthians 12:9 My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. The grace of Jesus Christ is sufficient with an endless supply to overcome any trouble in this life. The blood of Jesus is more powerful than any police officer or gun and is sufficient to protect you from the troubles of this world. Last week a neighbor at my apartment would not turn down his extremely loud banging music for the police. The cop said he could do nothing when the unruly neighbor did not answer the door. When the cop left, the neighbor turned up the music louder. Brother Bob screamed for an hour over and over again The blood of Jesus, The blood of Jesus and the neighbor turned off the music. Now you could hear a pin drop at that neighbor's home for a month. Brother Bob learned that the blood of Jesus is more powerful than a police officer. The blood of Jesus is sufficient to overcome any problem in this world. Revelation 12:11 promises that we overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb Jesus. Remember if you need deliverance from danger, scream the blood of Jesus and be protected from all trouble.

4) Sustaining Grace

     The fourth type of grace is sustaining grace that keeps you living for Jesus. 2 Timothy 1:9 says Who hath saved us and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began. Sustaining grace strengthens missionaries to preach in jungles and remote huts about Jesus. 

     Pictured above, an American tourist saw a happy missionary living and crawling around in filthy huts telling little African children about Jesus. The American tourist told the missionary "I wouldn't do that for a million dollars". The missionary replied "I wouldn't either; But I'd do it for Jesus because He's done so much for me".

     Receive sustaining grace to keep living for Jesus through sufferings and persecutions by saying the following two scriptures for strength. Say Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of the present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Also say 2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Remember to abide by 1 Peter 2:21-23 and follow the steps of Jesus to overcome trouble; When you are reviled for Jesus, revile not again; When you suffer for Jesus, don't threaten; But commit yourself to Him that judgeth righteously (In other words Let go and let God while you by faith look to Jesus and the cross where you by faith daily place your problems on the cross to be destroyed).

5) Surpassing Grace

     The fifth type of grace is future surpassing grace. Ephesians 2:7 promises That in the ages to come He (Jesus) might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. When saints get to heaven, Jesus will polish them up and put them on display. When the angels ask who are these saints? Jesus will reply They are my trophies of grace. Then all the saints will sing about God's future surpassing grace singing When we've been there 10000 years bright shining as the Son, we've no less days to sing God's praise then when we first begun.
