Choose Jesus Instead Of Anything Else

Like The Prodigal Son Choose The Lord Jesus Instead of Anything Else

Today like the prodigal son learn that choosing the Lord Jesus is better than anything else in this fading world. Luke 15:12 tells a story about a certain man that had two sons. And the younger of them (the prodigal son) said to his father, father give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. At first the lost son chose the glamour of the world instead of Jesus; Like all lost people without Jesus, he only was concerned with two words (give me). On this earth, lost people without Jesus say give me money; but in hell, lost people without Jesus will be saying forever give me water. Fortunately, the prodigal son will eventually get saved and learn that Jesus is so much better than anything in this world.

Luke 15:13 goes on to say And not many days after the younger (prodigal) son gathered all together and took his journey into a far country and there wasted his substance with riotous living. Note that it is not many days after someone is thinking about the far country that they are actually in the far country. Ephesians 4:27 warns us Neither give place to the devil. Galatians 5:9 warns us A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. In other words deny the slightest thought of sin and keep your mind on the Word of God and Jesus to avoid the misery and trouble of sin that leads to death.

Eventually the prodigal son lost all his money and ended up in the hogpen feeding pigs. The prodigal son learned that the Father's house was so much better with Jesus than the far country. Today millions of people are in the far country (even though they are in a church every Sunday) choosing to reject Jesus and love this fading world. Note the following signs that tell you that you're in the far country rejecting Jesus; 1) You love anything more than Jesus. 2) You have any hope more precious to you than the hope of heaven. 3) You love any book more than you love the bible.

Joshua 24:15 tells us that we all have to make a decision and choose either Jesus or this sinful fading world. It says And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land ye dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. In other words, trust Jesus and be saved and go to heaven; trust anything else and be lost and go to hell in misery forever. Right now get saved and choose Jesus with peace, joy, and strength in heaven. Repent, decide to stop sinning, confess Jesus to be God, and believe that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

Choose The Cup Of Salvation Instead Of The Devil's Cup Of Alcohol
The devil's cup first tastes good but then gets bad and ends in eternal misery
The cup of salvation first tastes bad with repentance but then gets better and better

Many people on this earth choose to drink the devil's cup that looks good and pleasant to the eyes with the glamorous lights of the casinos and beautiful women. The first drink from the devil's cup feels good when anyone fornicates and gets a temporary high from reefer, alcohol, or cocaine. But when anyone keeps drinking and sinning by sipping the devil's cup, they become miserable with sickness and debt failing to achieve that first high they experienced. And then while they keep drinking the devil's cup, they get addicted to alcohol and dope and can't seem to quit.

And finally when they get to the bottom of the devil's cup, the bible says a snake bites them with poison and the end result is misery and pain forevermore in hell. Proverbs 23:31 warns us Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Drunks and alcoholics will say it's all right to drink because 1 Timothy 5:23 says Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake, and thine often infirmities. But note that a little wine should only be taken when a person is sick; In other words avoid just drinking for fun because at the bottom of the devil's cup is a snake that will bite and send people to the misery of hell.

Many people say I can handle a little bit of fun and sin with just a little wine and choose Jesus later. Unfortunately most of these people never find Jesus and salvation. Brother Bob used to run with gangs and gamble all night at Atlantic City casinos drinking beer at the nightclubs. Every word out of my mouth from 16 to 21 was a curse word while I wore wild long hair. But by the grace of God, Brother Bob got saved at the age of 21 after Jesus saved my dad from drowning on a boat. Most all of my old sinful friends that I used to gamble and party with all night drinking and sinning are in one of three places now; dead, in prison, or in hell. And Brother Bob is saved, alive, and telling millions all over this earth about Jesus and has peace and joy forevermore. Jesus is so much better than anything else in this world.

Now lets take a look at the cup of salvation. The first sip out of the cup of salvation involves repentance (deciding to stop sinning and turn to Jesus) and doesn't taste too good. But then you sip salvation and accept Jesus as your Lord and start feeling better. And while you keep sipping the cup of salvation, you say this stuff isn't bad; it's a blessing to study the Word of God and learn about Jesus. Then you say this stuff is getting better and better with each sip. And finally when you get to the bottom of the cup of salvation, you find a well of water springing up unto everlasting life. Wow the cup of salvation with Jesus is better than anything else in this fading world.

Choose Pleasures Forevermore With Jesus
Instead Of The Pleasures For A Season With Sin

I pray in Jesus name that anyone reading this will choose the pleasures forevermore with Jesus instead of the pleasures for a season with sin. Psalm 16:11 tells us Thou wilt shew me the path of life; in thy presence (Lord God) is fulness of joy; at thy right hand (with the Lord Jesus) there are pleasures for evermore. Avoid the temporary pleasures of sin for a season like Moses stated at Hebrews 11:25 where Moses chose rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.

Folks, sin and its temporary fun is just not worth it. Isaiah 48:22 tells us There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked. Proverbs 13:15 says the way of the transgressors is hard. John 3:36 sums it all up saying He that believeth on the Son (Jesus) hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son (Jesus) shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Today stop sinning like the prodigal son who decided to return to his father's house instead of living in the hogpen of this sinful world. Now notice what the prodigal son said to his father at Luke 15:21 that says And the son said unto him, father I have sinned against heaven and in thy sight and am no more worthy to be called thy son. Like the prodigal son, tell Jesus daily, I'm a filthy sinner that needs you Jesus to daily cleanse and remove my sins. I can't remove my sins by myself; Please Jesus clean me up and take me back. If you come to Jesus like this, Jesus will slide out the wardrobe of heaven and put a clean robe of righteousness on you and you'll say Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Remember If You Come To God Like A Prince, You'll Go Away As A Beggar
But If You Come To God Like A Beggar, You'll Go Away Like A Prince

The Blessings Of Joy With Jesus That Last Forever
Are So Much Better Than The Temporary Pleasure Of Sin In This World

Like the prodigal son, when anyone chooses Jesus instead of any fading pleasure of sin in this world, their everlasting joy with Jesus is so much better than anything else. After the prodigal son repented, Luke 15:22 says But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet; And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat and be merry. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

Now notice that the prodigal son received everything he needed at his father's house with Jesus that was so much better than anything in this world. The prodigal son received a robe (clothing), a ring (money), and the fatted calf (a good steak dinner). And also notice that the bible says that they (the Lord Jesus and the prodigal son) began to be merry. In other words, like the prodigal son when anyone chooses Jesus instead of this fading world, the joy, peace, and blessings are just beginning and will keep going on forevermore. Jesus told us at John 10:10 I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. And 1 Corinthians 2:9 promises Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.

Like The Prodigal Son Return To Jesus Today And Sing The Words Below

Out in the wilderness wild and drear
Sadly I wandered for many a year
Driven by hunger and filled with fear
I will arise and go

Chorus
Back to my Father and home
Back to my Father and home
I will arise and go
Back to my Father and home

Backward once more my steps retraced
Seeking my heavenly Father's face
Willing to take but a servant's place
I will arise and go

O that I never had gone astray
Life was all radiant with hope one day
But now all its treasures I've thrown away
Dare I arise and go

Something is saying God loves me still
Though I have treated his love so ill
I must not wait for the night grows chill
I must arise and go

Remember when a saved saint leaves this world, they won't want to hear loud worldly rock music or see the flashing lights of a casino. They'll be glad they chose Jesus instead of this evil world and want someone to read them about Jesus and John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions; If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Instead of a wild crazy worldly song, they'll want to hear someone singing In the sweet by and by we shall sing on that beautiful shore; the melodious songs of the blest and our spirits shall sorrow no more; not a sigh for the blessing of rest. They'll also want to hear the two blessed songs titled Fairest Lord Jesus and Jesus Lover Of My Soul. Click the following two youtube links listed below to hear these blessed songs and receive peace, joy, and strength. Jesus bless you all.
