Today we will learn about a blessed man named Obededom the Gittite who had the honor of having the ark of the Lord stay at his house for three months. Saints, we should all be like Obededom and continually stay with Jesus and the ark of the Lord. Obededom is a blessed example of how a christian should daily live with the Lord Jesus.
Pictured above we see King David and two priests asking Obededom if he would allow the ark of the Lord to stay at his house for three months. Obededom said King David I'm glad you knocked on the door of my house; It's an honor to have the ark of the Lord rest at my home for three months. As a result, Obededom's house was blessed for three months. Friend reading this, like Obededom, when King Jesus knocks on your door, let the Lord Jesus (who is the ark of the Lord) in by confessing Jesus as God, believing Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again and be blessed like Obededom. Jesus said at Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock; If any man hear my voice, and open the door; I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
2 Samuel 6:10-12 talks about Obededom and the picture above saying So David would not remove the ark of the Lord unto him into the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obededom, and all his household. And the ark of the Lord continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months; and the Lord blessed Obededom and all his household. And it was told King David saying, The Lord hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.
When Obededom allowed the ark pictured above to stay at his house for three months, the ark of the Lord and Jesus (not his land, riches, or name) blessed Obededom and all his household. The ark of the Lord containing the golden pot of manna, Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant all represent our Lord Jesus. Jesus said He was the living bread manna and is proclaimed at John 1:1 to be the Word or tables of the covenant. Finally, Aaron's rod that budded represents how our Lord Jesus resurrected from the dead with eternal life.
Obededom's house was blessed by the ark for 90 days because Jesus was the ark that blessed Obededom. Like Obededom, everyone who lives on this earth when Jesus is King for 1000 years during the millenial reign will be blessed. The presence of our Lord Jesus will bless any house, country, or land that accepts Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
Take time to read the blessings shown to Brother Bob that people will receive when Jesus is King on this earth for 1000 years. Habakkuk 2:14 says For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. The animals will be tame around Jesus because Isaiah 65:25 says The wolf and the lamb shall feed together; and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock; and dust shall be the serpent's meat (snakes will just eat dust and not harm anyone). They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord. No crippled people will exist around Jesus because Isaiah 35:5 says Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing; for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. Finally, when Jesus is King on this earth for 1000 years, the fruit and vegetables like corn, apples, peppers, and tomatos will grow so abundantly and high like a forest. Isaiah 32:15 promises Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.
OK, let's return to our study about Obededom. Brother Bob has the answer to the question pictured above asking Who is Obededom? The answer is found in the hebrew definition of the name Obededom. The hebrew definition of Obededom is servant and worshipper. Obededom was blessed with the peace of the ark of our Lord Jesus for 90 days because he was a servant and worshipper of our Lord Jesus. Friend reading this anywhere, are you willing to be a servant and worshipper of our Lord Jesus like Obededom and receive continual blessings and peace from our Lord Jesus. You can right now by confessing Jesus as your Lord and believing that Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again.
Also note that Obededom was a blessed Gittite from Gath. The giant Goliath also was a Gittite from Gath but was wicked. This proves that a person's race, background, or country does not determine if they are blessed. John 1:12 tells us But as many as received Him (Jesus), to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Obededom and Goliath were both Gitttites from Gath, but Obededom was blessed because he received the Lord Jesus and the ark. Goliath was cursed because he rejected and mocked the Lord Jesus. Let's all be like Obededom and receive Jesus as our Lord and be blessed.
Alright, let's see what happened to Obededom and his family after his home was blessed by the ark for 90 days. The bible tells us that when King David heard that Obededom's house was blessed by the ark of the Lord, King David wanted to remove the ark from the house of Obededom. 2 Samuel 6:12 says So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.
Now what happened to Obededom and his family after the ark left his house? As the ark left Obededom's house, Obededom's wife and kids said daddy what are we gonna do now? Brother Bob can see Obededom saying mama pack our bags, we're goin with the ark; We're gonna move where the ark goes. And this is exactly what Obededom and his family did. Let's all be like Obededom and continually follow the Lord Jesus everywhere.
Pictured above we see that Obededom and his family were willing to sing and play instruments before the ark of the Lord for King David. Obededom and his family followed the ark and were willing to be appointed by King David as singers and players of instruments daily before the ark of the Lord. 1 Chronicles 15:16 says And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries, and harps and cymbals, sounding by lifting up the voice with joy. And Obededom was listed as one of the singers at 1 Chronicles 15:18 that gladly sang before the ark of the Lord.
I could see King David saying is anyone willing to sing before the ark of the Lord? Then Obededom said in the crowd, I'm willing to sing King David because the ark of the Lord blessed my house for 90 days. Then King David asked is anyone willing to play an instrument before the ark of the Lord? Then Obededom said in the crowd, King David I'm willing to play any instrument that you put in my hands because the ark of the Lord blessed my house for 90 days. This is stated at 1 Chronicles 15:19-21 where Obededom is listed as one of the saints that played cymbals of brass and harps before the ark of the Lord.
Then King David asked is there anyone willing to be a doorkeeper before the ark of the Lord? Immediately Obededom stopped playing his harp and said me me King David I'm willing to be a doorkeeper because the ark of the Lord blessed my house for 90 days. This is proven by 1 Chronicles 15:24 that lists Obededom as one of the doorkeepers for the ark of the Lord.
Friends, let's all be like Obededom and be willing to be doorkeepers in the house of our Lord Jesus instead of wasting time in elegant palaces and luxurious hotels on this earth. Let's all be like Obededom and win souls to our Lord Jesus as doorkeepers inviting lost souls to accept the Lord Jesus and enter the peaceful blessed kingdom forevermore. Psalm 84:10 tells us For a day in thy courts (the Lord's courts in heaven) is better than a thousand (on this earth), I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Proverbs 15:17 says Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. Proverbs 17:1 says Better is a dry morsel and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.
Then at 1 Chronicles 16:4, King David asked is there anyone willing to minister, record, thank and praise God before the ark of the Lord? Obededom replied saying King David I'll testify, record, thank, and praise the Lord Jesus before all the people because the ark of the Lord blessed my house for 90 days. Brother Bob like his hero Obededom has also chosen to record the blessed revelations of our Lord Jesus by writing this book for Jesus seen by around 100000 people all over this earth.
Then at 1 Chronicles 16:37, King David asked is there anyone willing to minister continually before the ark of the Lord day and night? Immediately, Obededom said me me me King David I'll continually minister and stay with the ark of the Lord day and night because the ark of the Lord blessed my house for 90 days. Let's all be like Obededom and continually stay with the Lord Jesus as we deny our flesh and this world daily.
Pictured above, like Obededom, the little girl is continually staying and meditating day and night on the Lord Jesus or the Word of God and ark of the Lord. If we meditate and memorize the Word of God day and night constantly, Psalm 1:3 promises we will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bringeth forth his fruit in his season, his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Friends everywhere, God's Word is the truth and can not lie. According to Psalm 1:3, Jesus will prosper and fix everything in your lives if you daily try to memorize scriptures from the bible. A good way to memorize the bible is to listen to scriptures everyday on an mp3 player. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Brother Bob encourages all my friends to daily memorize scripture to prosper and live blessed lives on this earth. Over twenty years Brother Bob has memorized most of the bible in hebrew and greek and as a result Brother Bob's life has prospered with many blessings.
Finally, because Obededom was faithful and continually ministered before the ark of the Lord for his whole life, Obededom's 8 sons were blessed. 1 Chronicles 26:4-5 tells us that the 8 sons of Obededom were blessed because their daddy was faithful and ministered every day of his life before the ark of the Lord. Obededom shared the Lord Jesus with his children for a blessing, believing the promise of Psalm 78:4 We will not hide them (the Word and the Lord Jesus) from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength, and His wonderful works that He hath done.
