It's Never Too Late For Jesus

Luke Short Gets Saved For Jesus
Remembering A Sermon He Heard
85 Years Earlier From John Flavel
It's Never Too Late For Jesus

A 15 year old boy named Luke Short listened one day in England to a sermon preached by John Flavel. He heard the preachers message but it had no effect at that time. Luke grew up, immigrated to America and spent the rest of his life as a farmer in Virginia. When Luke was 100 years old, he still had strength to walk across his farm and his mind was alert. But Luke was a lost sinner needing salvation from Jesus.

One day during his centennial year, as Luke sat resting under a shade tree, he reflected on that day as a teenager hearing John Flavel's message. Though Flavel had been dead many years, he could still hear the preacher ringing in his ears. Luke Short fell under conviction and gave his life to Jesus there under that shade tree because of a message preached 85 years ago. It is said that Luke Short lived to be 116 and on his headstone were carved these words. Here lies the body of Luke Short; Aged according to nature 116 years; According to grace 16 years.

Like John Flavel Keep Preaching Jesus Everywhere
The Word Of Jesus Lasts Forever And Can Save Anytime
It's Never Too Late For Jesus

Like John Flavel, keep preaching Jesus everywhere even when it seems no one around you is getting saved. There are many people like Luke Short who get saved because we preached Jesus. We might not hear about the souls we saved on this earth, but in heaven we will be rewarded for the many souls saved from our preaching. Our labor for Jesus is not in vain; 1 Corinthians 15:58 says Therefore, my beloved brethren be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. Hebrews 6:10 says For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Always offer salvation for Jesus everywhere. Tell people get saved, repent, decide to stop sinning, confess that Jesus is your God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again. We all should at least tell one person a year about Jesus. Witnessing about Jesus gives our lives purpose and is why we are on this earth. Paul told us at 1 Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apolos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth anything; neither he that watereth, but God giveth the increase.

Even when people reject and persecute us for preaching about Jesus, rejoice and keep preaching Jesus. Someone once told DL Moody mind your own business after he asked him Do you believe in the Lord Jesus? DL Moody replied It is my business whether you are saved for Jesus. Someone once told Brother Bob go to hell after I asked him Do you believe in the Lord Jesus? Brother Bob replied I can't go to hell because I'm saved and going to heaven forever in peace with Jesus.

Remember the Word of God is a seed that gets planted into people that listen to your sermons. And when these people hear the Word from other preachers, the Word gets watered and eventually God will give the increase. Remember God also says at Isaiah 55:11 So shall my Word be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. And Isaiah 59:1 promises Behold the Lord's hand is not shortened that it cannot save, neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. Jesus can save the worst sinner who asks for mercy while he remembers a sermon heard many years earlier.

Like The Farmers, Keep Preaching Jesus
Planting The Seed Of God's Word
Eventually The Harvest Will Occur
Where Multitudes Will Get Saved For Jesus

Don't get discouraged when you don't see immediate visible results and souls saved after you preach Jesus. Be like the farmers who always plant their seeds believing that a harvest will occur. James 5:7-8 says Be patient therefore brethren unto the coming of the Lord. Behold the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth and hath long patience for it until he receive the early and latter rain; Be ye also patient, stablish your hearts; for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. Be a farmer for Jesus and keep preaching the Word of God and soon you will see your blessed harvest of many saved souls for Jesus.

Ecclesiastes 11:1 promises Cast thy bread (the Word of God) upon the waters (send the Word of God over the waters of this earth with this internet to many nations); for thou shalt find it after many days (eventually you will find many souls in heaven saved because you preached the Word on this internet). And remember Galatians 6:9 promises And let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.

Why We Should Keep Preaching Jesus Everywhere At All Times

We will have all eternity to celebrate our victories
But only a few short hours to win them
Excuses will always be plentiful, opportunities won't

The Jailer, Rahab, and Lazarus Learned That
It's Never Too Late For Jesus

The jailer, Rahab, and Lazarus learned that it's never too late for Jesus. The jailer beat and placed Paul and Silas in prison. Every night at midnight, the jailer heard Paul and Silas praising Jesus. After an earthquake freed the prisoners, the jailer was going to kill himself. But Paul showed forgiveness and loved the jailer and offered the jailer salvation. The jailer's life was spared and the jailer got gloriously saved along with his family. It's never too late for Jesus.

Rahab was a prostitute that sinned every day. One day Rahab heard about the goodness of God and got saved. Rahab feared God and protected spies sent to destroy her city Jericho. Rahab agreed to place a scarlet line outside her window so her house would be saved from Joshua's army. Eventually Rahab was saved, had a son named Boaz and became the grandparent to King David and our Lord Jesus. It's never too late for Jesus.

Finally, Lazarus died and was buried in a tomb. Jesus waited 4 days to visit Lazarus' tomb. Martha said Lord if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. But Jesus told Martha, at John 11:25 I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And Jesus also said at Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and death.

Jesus first wept at Lazarus' tomb. But then Jesus proclaimed Lazarus come forth. And John 11:44 tells us And he (Lazarus) that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot, with graveclothes, and his face was bound about with a napkin. Then Jesus told the disciples Loose him, and let him go. It's never too late for Jesus.
