A perfect example of someone who asked for Jesus (who is wisdom according to 1 Corinthians 1:30) (and not money, houses, or blessings for his family) and was blessed with all his desires was King Solomon pictured above. In Hebrew the name Solomon is called peace and like Solomon if you friend reading this anywhere choose Jesus above all things and seek Jesus first in every area of your lives, Brother Bob prays peace for your life past, present, and future. Jesus said at John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Now friend just take a moment and meditate on what was presented to King Solomon when he prayed in the picture above. The Lord Jesus told Solomon you can have one wish only (anything you desire). Now Solomon could have like most people asked for money, lands, power, fame, palaces, and earthly desires, but Hallelujah Solomon chose wisdom or Jesus. Solomon made the right choice that we all should make by choosing Jesus because Matthew 24:35 says Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words (Jesus who is the Word) shall not pass away. Because Solomon chose Jesus first, Jesus blessed Solomon with riches and honour anyway. 1 Kings 3:10 tells us And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have done according to thy words; lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour; so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
Someone else who chose to serve the Father instead of accepting the riches and glory of all the kingdoms of this fading world presented by the devil was our Lord and Saviour Jesus. Jesus was blessed with the honour of having a name that is above all names. The scriptures that prove this are Matthew 4:8 that says Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto Him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve. The blessing Jesus received for choosing to serve the Father instead of any fading riches of this world is recorded at Philippians 2:9 that says Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Abraham was willing to obey the Lord Jesus and sacrifice one of his most beloved joys on this earth (his son Isaac). Think how Abraham was blessed with all blessings beyond thought for choosing the Lord Jesus above any earthly desire. Jesus just tested Abraham and spared his son Isaac, blessing Abraham because he placed God above any earthly joy or desire. Like Abraham, let us all choose to deny all earthly desires of our flesh while we trust and obey anything Jesus tells us to do. People might say Brother Bob how do I hear Jesus like Abraham. Brother Bob says daily with your heart see Jesus crucified, and the blood of Jesus that overcomes the devil according to Revelation 12:11 will make the devil (the prince of the air) flee from above you so you can hear God above. The prophet Isaiah encouraged us all and proclaimed that Jesus would daily talk to us and guide us because Isaiah 30:21 says And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
The wonderful story of the picture above of Abraham willing to obey Jesus and sacrifice his only son Isaac is recorded at Genesis 22:15 and says And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time. And said, by myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing, I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. Like Abraham, let us all daily obey the Lord Jesus winning souls to Jesus while we bless and remember the poor, and we will be blessed, possess with our seed the gate of our enemies, and all the nations of the earth will call us blessed.
Remember when we study the bible, the bible is like a puzzle where we put scriptures together and connect dots to understand the parables and mysteries of God revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. Let me state that since Jesus is the Word, Jesus can be seen throughout the entire bible and gives meaning and life to the entire Word. For example, place the bible verses Genesis 22:8 and 2 Corinthians 5:19 together to understand that the Lord Jesus is the sacrifice that reconciled the world unto God . Genesis 22:8 says And Abraham said, My son, God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering (God did provide Himself, the lamb Jesus, for an offering at the cross of Calvary). 2 Corinthians 5:19 says To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Since we are talking about placing scriptures together like a puzzle to understand the Word, now place Hebrews 7:25 and Romans 8:33 together proving that Jesus saves people to the uttermost where no one can lay anything to the charge of God's elect for it is God that justifieth. Hallelujah, once saved always saved. Hebrews 7:25 says Wherefore He is able to save them to the uttermost (from the guttermost to the uttermost) that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. Romans 8:33 says Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Pictured above we see yet another example of choosing Jesus above anything where the three Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, refused to bow down to the golden image made by Nebuchadnezzar, choosing to exalt and serve the Lord Jesus only. Daniel 3:23 tells us what happened to the Hebrew boys for refusing to bow down to Nebechudnezzar's golden image and says And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
What a blessing to know that like the three Hebrew boys, when saints choose to serve Jesus instead of anything in this fading world, Jesus will be with us always, set us free, and deliver us from all harm. A final person who denied the riches of this world, choosing to follow the Lord Jesus is Moses. Moses left the treasures of Egypt, realizing that rewards with Jesus is a greater treasure than anything this fading world has to offer. Hebrews 11:24 says By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharoah's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing Him who is invisible. Let us all abide by the instructions of Hebrews 10:38 and stay with Jesus while we deny the fading riches of this world that says Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not them who draw back unto perdition (utter destruction caused by the love of money); but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
Take time to meditate on the glorious clothing (the golden coat of many colours) that Jesus will give his saints in the kingdom of God proclaimed by Psalm 45:11 that says So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty (Jesus desiring the beauty of his saints or the church stated at Ephesians 5:27): for He is thy Lord; and worship thou Him. And the daughter of Tyre (the daughter of the Rock or the saints of Jesus because Jesus is the Rock stated at 1 Corinthians 10:4) shall be there with a gift (the gift is Jesus because Jesus is our reward stated at Revelation 22:12); even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour. The king's daughter (saved saints) is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. She shall be brought unto the King (Jesus) in raiment of needlework (a coat of many colours); the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee. With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the King's palace. I pray in Jesus name that all who read the promise of Psalm 45:11 receive peace and joy forevermore from our Lord Jesus.
