Repentance is a gift from God that is required to be saved. This is proven by Acts 11:18 that says When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. Salvation with the Lord Jesus is a two step process. First a person repents to God and then they have faith in the Lord Jesus to get saved with Jesus. Repentance without faith in the Lord Jesus can not save a person.
Repentance is married to faith. You need both repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus to be saved. Acts 20:20 says And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you. but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Repentance turns you from sin and faith turns you to Jesus. Repentance brings you out of sin and faith brings you in to Jesus. Repentance causes you to stop sinning and faith causes you to start living for Jesus. Repentance causes you to quit sinning and faith causes you to begin living for Jesus.
Repentance and good works without faith in the Lord Jesus can not save a person. Ephesians 2:8 says For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. But we do good works to witness Jesus everywhere and save lost sinners.

Christians will be rewarded for their good works after the rapture by Jesus at the bema judgment seat in heaven. James 2:20 says But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? This is why Ephesians 2:10 goes on to say For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Proverbs 28:13 speaks about repentance. He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Notice that this scripture says if anyone covers their sins and refuses to repent, they shall not prosper. But if anyone confesseth and forsaketh (stops sinning), they shall have mercy. A lot of people just confess and say they will stop sinning. But a person must also repent and forsake their sins (stop sinning) to have mercy.
2 Chronicles 7:14 also speaks about repentance. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways (in other words repent); then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Pictured above we see two examples about people who covered their sins (failed to repent by confessing and forsaking sin) and did not prosper. First we see Achan who covered his sin by burying 200 shekels of silver, a wedge of gold worth 50 shekels, and a goodly Babylonish garment in the earth in the midst of his tent. Achan and his entire family died when Joshua discovered that they covered their sin and hid treasures in their tent. Also pictured above we see a fig leaf that Adam and Eve used to cover their sin. Adam and Eve did not prosper because they covered their sin and created the curse of sin for all people. This is why Jesus died on the cross of Calvary to remove sin's curse and wash away our sins in the blood of Jesus.
Therefore everyone has to make a choice. Either foolishly cover and hide your sins, failing to repent, where you do not prosper and die. Or wisely confess and forsake (repent and decide to stop sinning) and receive mercy with eternal life.
Sin blocks blessings. Psalm 66:18 says If I regard iniquity (sin) in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. Brother Bob tells people everywhere that when you are tempted to sin, say the following two scriptures to avoid sinning. Say Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Also say Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Choose life with Jesus instead of sin and death. I'd rather suffer with Jesus and live than enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season and die in misery. Romans 8:18 says For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 2 Corinthians 4:17 says For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. 2 Timothy 1:12 says For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.
5 OF THE 7 REVELATION CHURCHES WERE TOLD TO REPENT BY JESUS
Repentance is important to Jesus who told 5 of the 7 Revelation churches to repent. You can't get saved until you first repent and make a decision to stop a lifestyle of fornication, drinking, smoking pot, cheating, and stealing. Then turn to the Lord Jesus where the blood of Jesus will wash away all your sins and make you white as snow and give you the everlasting peace that passeth all understanding. 1 John 1:7 says But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Note how Jesus stressed repentance to the following five Revelation churches to receive blessings and avoid curses. To Ephesus, Jesus said at Revelation 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. To Pergamos, Jesus said at Revelation 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
To Thyatira, Jesus said at Revelation 2:22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. To Sardis, Jesus said at Revelation 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. To Laodicea, Jesus said at Revelation 3:19 As many as I love I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Pictured above we see three people in the bible that learned to repent and got blessed. Paul, Isaiah, and Job learned to deny themselves and admit that they were sinners, willing to repent, so the Lord Jesus could bless them. Paul admitted that he was a sinner and repented saying at 1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Paul said at Romans 7:24 O wretched man that I am. Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Isaiah admitted that he was a sinner and repented saying at Isaiah 6:5 Then said I, Woe is me. for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Job admitted that he was a sinner and repented saying at Job 42:6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes. Simon Peter admitted that he was a sinner and repented at Luke 5:8 telling Jesus Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. Repent like Paul, Isaiah, and Job and get saved with the Lord Jesus.
A LIST OF EXCUSES PEOPLE MAKE FOR SINNING
AVOID MAKING THESE EXCUSES
I know when to quit
I'm not as bad as some people
At least I'm no hypocrite
It all depends on how you look at it
My conscience doesn't convict me
You got to make a living
We all fall short
No one is perfect
I always have done it
I'm not hurting anyone
Leave them alone; they're not hurting you
Everyone else does it
Many bible verses tell us to repent daily and stop sinning. Ephesians 4:29 says Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
2 Corinthians 7:1 says Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. James 1:21 says Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity (past sins before salvation) of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted Word, which is able to save your souls.
1 Corinthians 15:33 pictured above says Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. In other words avoid sinful communications on social media like facebook, youtube, and tiktok. Don't get overcharged with the cares of this life and forget to witness Jesus everywhere to lost sinners because some have not the knowledge of God.
Unfortunately most people are too busy texting and looking at facebook on their cellphones and forget about witnessing Jesus to people around them on this earth. Many people at restaurants and on airplanes look more at their cellphones than the lost sinners around them that need to get saved and hear about Jesus.
If you take too much time texting on cellphones while watching social media all day, heed to the warning of Luke 21:34 that says And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting (hangover after drinking), and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Ephesians 5:14 says Wherefore He (Jesus) saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly (diligently), not as fools, but as wise. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Deny your flesh and witness Jesus everywhere at Walmart and at the grocery store. Whenever you walk into the Walmart entrance, tell your flesh to love unloveable rude people and be a light that shines the Lord Jesus to lost sinners.
I pray in Jesus name that this bible study blesses multitudes everywhere with great joy, peace, and strength.
