Ants, Conies, Locusts, And Spiders

Today we learn about four little animals pictured above (ants, conies, locusts, and spiders) that the bible says are exceeding wise. They're not just wise; they're exceeding wise. Proverbs 30:24 says There be four things (ants, conies, locusts, and spiders) which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise. Therefore let your teachers be ants, conies, locusts, and spiders. In other words pay attention to and get wisdom from ants, conies, locusts, and spiders because Proverbs 4:7 says Wisdom is the principal thing; and with all thy getting get understanding.

And remember that 1 Corinthians 1:30 defines wisdom as Jesus saying But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. And note that John 1:1 says that Jesus is the Word. Therefore memorize the bible to get wisdom and like King Solomon when you learn about the bible and Jesus it will be better than silver, gold, rubies, and anything you could desire according to Proverbs 3:14-15. Wisdom and Jesus will give you riches and honor along with length of days and add pleasantness and peace. What are you waiting for? Get saved today and repent (decide to stop sinning), make Jesus your God, and believe that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

PROVERBS 30:25 ANTS
The ants are a people not strong
yet they prepare their meat in the summer

First, let's learn wisdom from the ants. Ants are not lazy and prepare for their future. Like ants, friends everywhere we all need to prepare for our eternal future. Our lives on this earth compared to eternity are like a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. Like a thin footprint on a sea lashed shore, like the stay of a postman, like a glimpse of a passing ship, and like a quick burst of music down a crowded street.

This is why 2 Corinthians 6:2 says I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee; behold, now is the accepted time, behold now is the day of salvation. Ages ago, a rich man and Lazarus both died at the same time; Lazarus went to paradise heaven with Abraham and the rich men went to hell. After the rich man died, he did not have another opportunity in hell to get saved; a gulf separated the rich man forevermore from paradise and heaven. This is why I tell everyone everywhere to get saved now on this earth before death and guarantee salvation with eternal peace forevermore in the kingdom of God with our Lord Jesus.

Proverbs 6:6 also speaks about ants and says Go to the ant, thou sluggard, consider her ways and be wise. Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest; How long wilt thou sleep O sluggard; When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep; Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep. So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth (this refers to a poor bum with no money that constantly travels, is lazy, begs, and never works) and thy want as an armed man (this refers to a criminal who instead of working steals and gets put in jail where they only make a few bucks).

Notice that the ants teach us to not be lazy. Proverbs 20:13 says Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes and thou shalt be satisfied with bread. If you want to be blessed and find Jesus, get out of your bed early each morning like Brother Bob at 4AM and don't be lazy. Keep moving and don't just sit around doing nothing. We can learn from water; If water sits still it gets filthy, dirty, and good for nothing; but if water keeps moving like a waterfall, the water is fresh, blessed, alive, and refreshing. Keep moving like a fresh waterfall and you'll be able to hear the voice of Jesus because God's word at Revelation 1:15 says that God's voice is like a mighty rushing waterfall. Keep moving and reach lost sinners all over this earth with Jesus constantly telling everyone all over this earth to get saved and live for Jesus.

Proverbs 8:17 says I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. This is why birds are so blessed and happy each morning singing praises to Jesus. Birds know to get up early and find Jesus. We can learn from birds who have bills but they keep on singing. Like birds, get up early every morning and study the Word of God, memorizing scriptures and according to Psalm 1 whatsoever you do will prosper and God will fix everything in your life.

PROVERBS 30:26 CONIES
The conies are but feeble folk,
yet they make their houses in the rocks

Next, let's learn wisdom from the coney pictured above. Conies are extremely feeble and afraid of just the shadow of a little bird. But the coney is exceeding wise and runs to the Rock Jesus to hide safely from any fears or trouble. Like conies, we all are feeble folk and branches that can do nothing without the vine Jesus. But, if we all run daily to the Rock Jesus saying I am crucified with Christ by faith, the blood of Jesus will give us victory over the devil and cleanse us from all our sins where evil must pass over us.

1 Corinthians 10:4 tells us that the Rock that saints hide behind for safety is Jesus saying And did all drink the same spiritual drink; for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them; and that Rock was Christ.  And Proverbs 18:10 tells us The name of the Lord (Jesus) is a strong tower; the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

It's interesting to note that if you visit En Gedi at Israel, you'll see many conies hiding in the rocks and caves of En Gedi for safety. King David used to hide in the rocks and caves of En Gedi like a coney for safety from King Saul who threatened to kill him. 1 Samuel 23:29 tells us And David went up from thence and dwelt in strongholds (defined as a mountain castle in the Rock).

Conies are smart and know that according to Isaiah 32:2 they can hide in the refreshing shadow of the great Rock Jesus and get rest in a weary land. Hallelujah, Isaiah 32:2 proclaims that And a man (Jesus) shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great Rock in a weary land.

The bible tells us that Jesus was the Rock of Ages cleft for me let me hide thyself in thee at Isaiah 26:3 that says Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee; Trust ye in the Lord forever; for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength (defined as Jesus the Everlasting Rock Of Ages).

And note that there is one other place in the bible that mentions conies at Psalm 104:18 that says The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies. And like the wild goats, Psalm 46:1 tells us that God (Jesus) is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

And finally, like conies, we learn that we are unclean unless we are washed white as snow by the blood of Jesus. Deuteronomy 14:7 tells us that conies are unclean saying Nevertheless, these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof, as the camel, and the hare, and the coney, for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore, they are unclean unto you. Like conies Isaiah 64:6 says we are unclean; "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags, and we all do fade as a leaf, and our iniquities like the wind have taken us away."

Learn from the conies; Realize that we all are unclean sinners needing to run to the Rock Jesus to be cleansed by His blood from our sins to receive safety and the peace that passeth all understanding in the kingdom of God forevermore. According to Luke 6:47 build your house on the Rock Jesus and the floods and troubles of this life will not shake or move you because your house is founded upon a Rock named Jesus.

PROVERBS 30:27 LOCUSTS
The locusts have no king
yet go they forth all of them by bands

Next let's learn wisdom from the locusts pictured above. Like locusts, we need to pray together in groups or bands to be effective. There is no one man show in God's work; we need each other. 10 ants working together can move a crumb better than just 1 ant. This is why we all need to fellowship and attend church with believers every week. One puts 1000 devils to flight, but two in agreement will put 10000 devils to flight. Deuteronomy 32:30 says How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had shut them up?

And Matthew 18:19-20 says And I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. And Ecclesiastes 4:12 tells us And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

PROVERBS 30:28 SPIDERS
The spider taketh hold with her hands
and is in king's palaces

Finally, let's learn wisdom from the spider pictured above. Spiders have determination, ignoring all obstacles and troubles. If you knock down a spider web, the next day you'll find a new spider web. No matter how many times you knock down a spider's web, the spider will build a new web every time. Like spiders, we need to have determination and keep preaching about Jesus to lost sinners no matter how many times people try to knock us down, persecute, and mock us for serving the Lord Jesus. 1 Corinthians 15:58 tells us Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Check out these other scriptures that tell us to have determination and keep working for Jesus like the spider. Luke 18:1 says Men ought always to pray and not to faint. Right now say Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Be stedfast like the spider and keep resisting the devil, and the devil will flee from you. James 4:7 promises Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

And note that no matter how many times you try to defeat a spider, the spider will start over again and refuse to be defeated. Like spiders, we are more than conquerors through Him (Jesus) that loved us. 1 Corinthians 15:57 promises But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. And 2 Corinthians 1:14 says Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Chirst, and maketh manifest the savour of His knowledge by us in every place.

Also, like spiders that take hold with their hands, we need to hold on to our faith and the Lord Jesus daily. No matter how many times people try to stop us and persecute us, get back up again and keep working for Jesus. Proverbs 24:16 tell us For a just man falleth seven times and riseth up again, but he wicked shall fall into mischief.  Also, Jude 3 tells us to earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Finally, note that like spiders. if you keep working for Jesus through any persecution, eventually you will dwell among royalty in the presence of King Jesus. Jesus promised us at Revelation 1:6 that He hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. God rewards the spider's determination by allowing them to live in king's palaces; And God rewards the saints' determination to live for Jesus, by allowing them to live in mansions of royalty on a street of pure gold transparent glass in a city of pure gold clear glass with King Jesus forevermore.

  1. Locusts know how to catch the headwind and take flight, we need to be able to sense the prevailing eind direction and take flight
