The Valley Gate
The fourth gate that speaks about the christian life is the valley gate. After getting saved at the sheep gate, witnessing for Jesus at the fish gate, and walking in the old ways at the old gate, christians should become humble at the valley gate pictured above. The valley gate represents the spiritual quality of humility and lowliness. James 4:6 says But He (the Lord Jesus) giveth more grace, Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. James 4:10 says Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.
Become humble like Paul who said at Ephesians 3:8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ. Become humble like John the Baptist who said at John 3:30 He (Jesus) must increase, but I must decrease. If you become humble giving the glory to the Lord Jesus, God will strengthen and revive you according to Isaiah 57:15. For thus saith the high and lofty one that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. God strengthens and revives contrite sinners who repent and decide to stop sinning.
Become humble, blessed, and strengthened today with our Lord Jesus
Get saved, repent, decide to stop sinning,
Confess that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel
That Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again
Nehemiah 3:13 says The valley gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits on the wall unto the dung gate. Note that seven verses from Nehemiah 3:6-12 described the old gate but only one verse at Nehemiah 3:13 described the valley gate. Only Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah built the valley gate. There are not as many named workers at the valley gate as the number of named workers at the old gate. This is because most christians don't want to be humble. Humility is not a popular word among christians. Most christians like self approval with their name in lights. Instead choose to be humble where our Lord Jesus gets the glory and you will be blessed with joy, peace, and strength.
Brother Bob chose to be humble and build the valley gate giving our Lord Jesus all the praise. Brother Bob's name is not in the limelight and only Jesus gets the glory. Like Hanun and the citizens of Zanoah, Brother Bob lives in a poor humble, little apartment in Reynoldsburg, Ohio where Jesus gets all the glory. It's a great joy to write preachbrotherbob blog and bless half a million people in many countries everywhere with revelations about our Lord Jesus. Give your life purpose and meaning. Witness Jesus everywhere and rejoice when lost sinners get saved with Jesus.
Pictured Above Note That The City Of Zanoah
Was Located In A Valley
The inhabitants from the city of Zanoah helped only one person named Hanun build the valley gate. Joshua 15:33 tells us that the city of Zanoah is located in the low country valley of Judah. Therefore the citizens of Zanoah were humble and willing to build the valley gate. Joshua 15:33 says And in the valley, Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah, and Zanoah, and Engannim, Tappuah, and Enam.
The Hebrew meanings for Hanun and Zanoah relate to humility. Hanun means gracious and Zanoah means to cast off. Hanun was gracious and humble, willing to build the valley gate because God gives grace to the humble. The citizens of Zanoah were humble and willing to build the valley gate because they cast off their sinful desires for their flesh and this fading world.
The inhabitants of Zanoah that built the valley gate were unnamed humble servants that allowed the Lord Jesus to get the praise and glory. The citizens of Zanoah obeyed Jesus' command at Luke 9:23 that says If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Be humble like the citizens of Zanoah, willing to work for our Lord Jesus, witnessing Jesus everywhere.
Cast off the cares of this world and the sinful desires of your flesh so you can effectively witness Jesus and save lost sinners souls. Luke 9:62 says And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Be like Paul who said at Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. The way to effectively deny your flesh and the temporary pleasures of this world is to study the Word of God, pray, and fellowship at your local church. Be like the citizens of Zanoah and cast off your sinful flesh and worldly desires while you study God's Word, pray, and fellowship. Then you will become a blessed witness for Jesus able to build God's valley gate.
Don't Be Like The Citizens Of Meroz Who Were Not Humble
The Citizens of Meroz Refused To Help God And Build God's Valley Gate
Don't be like the citizens of Meroz who were proud instead of humble. The citizens of Meroz refused to help Deborah and Barak fight against the Canaanite leaders Jabin and Sisera. The Hebrew meaning for Meroz is a secret isolated proud refuge. God cursed the proud citizens of Meroz because they refused to be humble and bless God's people at the valley gate.
Judges 5:23 speaks about the citizens of Meroz saying Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the Lord, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the Lord, to the help of the Lord against the mighty. Don't be lazy like the citizens of Meroz and refuse to help poor widows, orphans, and God's preachers save lost sinners from this troubled world. Proverbs 23:21 says For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
Don't be proud like the citizens of Meroz and get cursed by God because you refused to help God's people. Proverbs 16:18 says Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 11:2 says When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. Proverbs 29:23 says A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. Proverbs 18:12 says Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humilty. Instead be humble like the citizens of Zanoah and be honoured forever in heaven and on this earth as a blessed soul winner that saved multitudes for our Lord Jesus.
The Many Benefits Of Being Humble And Willing To Build God's Valley Gate
Note the many benefits that christians receive when they are humble and willing to build God's valley gate. Proverbs 19:17 says He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. In other words if you just pity the poor (not pay the poor with money), you are working on God's timeclock and God will pay you with a great reward.
Take time to be humble and say encouraging words to everyone. A kind word could save a person's life. Proverbs 18:21 says Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Pray in the name of Jesus for any need, and God will fix any problem. Jesus said at John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name (Jesus), I will do it. In other words if you are humble and live holy, you will ask for the right things and Jesus will do it and bless you.
Psalm 41:1 says Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. Notice again if you just consider the poor (not pay the poor with money), taking time to call, text, or email the poor with kind encouraging words of comfort and visit the poor, willing to help them overcome their troubles, you will receive the following benefits. The Lord Jesus will preserve you, keep you alive, bless you, deliver you from the will of your enemies, strengthen you, and heal you of any sickness.
But note that 1 John 3:17 says But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? In other words if you have the money to bless the poor, it's wrong to ignore the poor and not help them. To any millionaire reading this, remember that you can't take your money with you to heaven. 1 Timothy 6:7 says For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
Instead bless the poor and build treasure in heaven that will never fade away. Jesus said at Mark 10:21 if you give to the poor, you will have treasure in heaven. Jesus said at Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
Jesus told the rich young ruler to give to the poor to build treasure in heaven at Mark 10:21: One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. Be like the millionaire CT Studd who gave away all his money to bless George Muller and his orphans with food and clothing, choosing to win souls to our Lord Jesus as a missionary in Africa. CT Studd said "Only one life twill soon be past, only what's done for Jesus Christ will last. Some want to live within the sound of church or chapel bell, but I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell."
If a billionaire wastes his money building space rockets that are useless, how dwelleth the love of God in him? I pray in Jesus name that these billionaires use their money to bless the poor and help needy widows and orphans on this earth. James 1:27 says Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. Jesus said at Matthew 25:40 Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
The Lord Jesus wants us to be humble, bow down, and only exalt the Lord Jesus. It's wrong to try to rise up into God's territory in space flying to the moon and Mars to only discover space rocks. What a waste of time and money. When Nimrod tried to rise up above God in space by building the tower of Babel, God confused Nimrod and his followers creating many different languages. Instead be humble and give to the poor and God will exalt you with many great blessings. Jesus said at Matthew 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased (brought low); and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
The Many Benefits Of Being Humble And Willing To Build God's Valley Gate
Another benefit of being humble willing to build God's valley gate is that God will hear your prayers and not forget your requests for mercy and deliverance. Just keep being humble with continual prayer requests and Jesus will grant and give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 9:12 says When He (the Lord Jesus) maketh inquisition for blood, He remembereth them: He forgetteth not the cry of the humble. Psalm 10:17 says Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear: To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.
Humility is related to the fear of the Lord. You can't fear God without being humble. A proud arrogant person does not fear God. Only humble meek people fear God. And when you fear God, you will become wise with Jesus who is better than silver, gold, rubies, and anything you could desire. With Jesus who is wisdom according to 1 Corinthians 1:30 and Proverbs 3:14-17 christians receive length of days, riches and honour, along with pleasantness and peace. If you choose to fear God and become humble by daily rejoicing while you keep praying and worshipping the Lord Jesus, God will also give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4 says Delight thyself also in the Lord: and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Keep praying and never quit serving the Lord Jesus. It's never a bad time to pray. Psalm 55:17 says Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and He (the Lord Jesus) shall hear my voice.
Remember if you just keep trying to attain your desires and don't quit, you will be victorious and accomplish all your goals. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they quit. Quitters never win and winners never quit. Psalm 55:22 says Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
The Many Benefits Of Being Humble And Willing To Build God's Valley Gate
Note some more benefits of being humble and willing to build God's valley gate. Proverbs 22:4 says By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life. When anyone is humble, fears the Lord Jesus and trembles with reverence at God's holy Word, the Lord Jesus will always be present with comfort, blessing that person with unspeakable joy.
Isaiah 66:5 says Hear the Word of the Lord, ye that tremble at His Word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the Lord be glorified: but He shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. Hebrews 13:5 says Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
2 Chronicles 7:14 says If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. In other words when anyone becomes humble, repents, prays, and stops sinning, the Lord Jesus will heal and bless them. It's a blessing to be humble, receiving riches, honour, and life. Proverbs 3:34 says Surely He scorneth the scorners: but He giveth grace unto the lowly. Be more concerned about other people's needs instead of your own selfish desires. Deny yourself and be humble while you obey Philippians 2:3: Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.
Be Like Manasseh, Uzziah, And Jesus
Who Were Willing To Build God's Valley Gate
Manasseh got blessed after he humbled himself and was willing to build God's valley gate. Manasseh was a wicked king who caused his own children to pass through the fire, used enchantments, and worked with witches and wizards. But after Manasseh humbled himself when he was bound with fetters (chains), the Lord Jesus blessed Manasseh to become king again. It pays to be humble and fear God.
Read how Manasseh became a blessed king when he chose to be meek and humble. 2 Chronicles 33:6 says And he (Manasseh) caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil int he sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger. 2 Chronicles 33:11 says Wherefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the host of the King of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, And prayed unto Him: and he was intreated of Him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord He was God.
Uzziah got blessed for being humble when he built the valley gate. 2 Chronicles 26:9 says Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them. Note that the Hebrew meaning for Uzziah is strength from the Lord. Because Uzziah was humble and allowed the Lord Jesus to give him strength, he was blessed to build the valley gate.
Be like Jesus who was the greatest servant to ever build God's valley gate when He was willing to die on the cross of Calvary to save lost sinners everywhere. Jesus got blessed for being humble when God gave the Lord Jesus a name that is above every name. Philippians 2:5 says Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth (the devil will bow to Jesus); And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Eventually every sinner (even the devil) will be humbled and bow to Jesus. It's better to bow now to Jesus and get saved being blessed to enter the peaceful kingdom of God. Don't wait to bow to Jesus at the great white throne judgment and be cursed with torment forever in the lake of fire. Isaiah 2:11 says that soon everything (people, angels, and the devil) will be humbled where only the Lord Jesus will be exalted. Isaiah 2:11 says The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord (Jesus) alone shall be exalted in that day.
If you want to have peaceful rest, be humble like Jesus, willing to build God's valley gate while you witness Jesus everywhere to lost sinners all over this earth. Jesus said at Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Therefore when christians become meek and humble, they receive peaceful rest.
Be Like Peter Who Was Willing To Build God's Valley Gate
Peter told us to be humble and willing to build God's valley gate to receive blessings. 1 Peter 5:5 says Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.
When you humble yourself in the low valleys of this troubled world, Jesus will bless you to overcome all your troubles so you can comfort others with wisdom to overcome this troubled world. 2 Corinthians 1:3 says Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
Jesus will bless you with unspeakable joy when you are willing to build God's valley gate by helping poor widows, orphans, and lost sinners hear your blessed preaching about Jesus. Hebrews 12:11 speaks about blessings received when you serve Jesus in the low valleys of this world. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Psalm 116:6 says The Lord preserveth the simple, I was brought low, and He (the Lord Jesus) helped me.
Be Humble Like A Little Child Willing To Build God's Valley Gate
And The Lord Jesus Will Give You A Great Reward
Be humble like a little child willing to build God's valley gate and the Lord Jesus will give you a great reward. Jesus said at Matthew 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. When we become humble like little children who often are unnoticed, the Lord Jesus will get the glory, remember us, and give us a great reward. Hebrews 6:10 says For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
