Reasons To Stop Sinning

1) The Bible Says To Sin Not

Today, let's look at many reasons to stop sinning. Pictured above we see two bible verses that say sin not. 1 Corinthians 15:34 says Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God, I speak this to your shame. In other words, when people sin they fail to witness to lost sinners and multitudes of people go to hell because they have not the knowledge of God. 1 John 2:1 says My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

Notice that 1 John 2:1 says if you sin, you have an advocate lawyer named Jesus Christ whose blood shed at the cross of calvary will cleanse you of all your sin. You see the bible says to sin not where repentance (deciding to stop sinning) is a requirement to be saved. 2 Corinthians 7:10 tell us For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. Get saved today; Repent and decide to stop sinning, confess Jesus to be your God, and believe that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

And notice that Hebrews 12:1 says Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doeth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Decide today to stop fornicating, gambling, buying lottery tickets,  taking drugs, and drinking beer so you can run the race to receive eternal blessings and rewards from our Lord Jesus Christ.

2) The Pleasures Of Sin Are Just For A Short Season And End In Death

Next we learn from Moses to stop sinning because the pleasures of sin are just for a short season and end in misery and death. Hebrews 11:24 tells us By faith, Moses when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharoah's daughter. Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. Instead, Moses chose to receive pleasures for evermore and the fulness of joy with our Lord Jesus promised at Psalm 16:11 In thy presence Lord Jesus is the fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Let's see why Moses chose to suffer with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season? Moses realized that his eternal reward of peace in heaven with Jesus was better than any fading pleasure of sin on this earth. Hebrews 11:26 tells us Moses esteemed the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he had respect unto the recompence (payment) of the reward.

In other words, Moses had respect and thought about his future reward from our Lord Jesus in the next heaven for his suffering to serve and bless the poor on this earth. Moses said there will be a reward for me in heaven if I suffer and live for Jesus. The pleasures of sin on this earth quickly perish like a vapor that appears for a little while and vanishes away. Earthly pleasures of this world are only like a snowflake on a river that appear for a moment and then vanish away. Like Moses, I'd rather have the eternal rewards of blessings in heaven with our Lord Jesus than a fading moment of sinful pleasure on this earth.

Anyone reading this, make your choice today

You can enjoy the pleasures of sin in this world for a fading moment
And have no reward in heaven
OR
You can suffer for Jesus in this short life blessing poor widows and orphans
And be rewarded forever with peace and joy in heaven with Jesus

Notice the blessed quote pictured above from CS Lewis that says If you read history you will find that the christians that did the most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next heaven. Today, many christians have ceased to think of the next heaven and have become ineffective in this present world.

In other words, CS Lewis is telling us to think about our reward in heaven and heavenly things in the next heaven to become effective for Jesus in this present world. Pictured above, Colossians 3:1 tells us If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. If we think about heaven, it will encourage us to minister to lost sinners on this earth. We'll want to save lost souls all over this earth and rescue them from suffering forever in hell without Jesus.

On the other hand, if anyone is only concerned about enjoying the fading pleasures of sin on this earth, (selfishly gambling at casinos, buying lottery tickets, and wasting time all day gossiping on facebook), they won't take time to witness and care about anyone, causing multitudes to be lost and burn in hell without Jesus forevermore.

3) Sin separates anyone from God where their prayers are not heard

Next we see that we should stop sinning because sin separates anyone from God where their prayers are not heard. Isaiah 59:1 tells us Behold the Lord's hand is not shortened that it cannot save, neither His ear heavy that it cannot hear. But your iniquities (sin) have separated between you and your God and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear. And wow, Psalm 66:18 says If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.

OK, if you want God to hear your prayers to deliver you from all your fears and troubles, stop sinning, and daily say I am crucified with Christ, so the blood of Jesus can wash away your sins where your prayers will be heard. Revelation 1:5 promises unto Him (Jesus) that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood.

4) Sin makes people do things they regret and controls their lives

Next we learn that the sins of taking drugs, revelling with loud music all night, and drinking beer and wine constantly are witchcraft and will make people do things that they regret and take control over their lives. These people don't even remember the harm to others that their sin makes them commit. When they sober up after a night of drunkenness and revelling, they can't even remember and regret the harm they did to people when sin controlled their lives.

Notice that Paul said at Romans 7:19-20 pictured above, For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. In other words, sin makes people do harmful things they regret where they lose control over their life. Cocaine addicts and drunken alcoholics become slaves to their sin, and their addictions to sin make them miserable, where they'll harm anyone (steal money even from their own mother) to satisfy their sinful cravings to get one more high from cocaine.

Instead of letting sin control your life where you regret the harm you cause others, let the Lord Jesus control your life where sin is defeated and you bless many on this earth, receiving eternal rewards in heaven forever. Friend, Jesus can deliver you from any craving for a drug, cigarette, or alcohol. In fact, only trusting in Jesus crucified can stop anyone from smoking, taking dope, or constantly drinking wine and beer as slaves to sin. He who the Son of man (Jesus) sets free is free indeed.

5) Sin will withhold good things from you

Wow, check this out. The prophet Jeremiah warned us that sin will withhold good things from us. Jeremiah 5:25 pictured above says Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you. This scripture makes you wonder what good things you lost that were withholden because of sin. In other words, what were the good things God was just about to give me and then had to withhold because of my sin.

6) Sin causes harm to others around us

Another reason to stop sinning is because sin harms people around us. Matthew 24:12 says And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. In other words, when people sin, they cause multitudes to wax cold where love is lost and the poor are neglected. Sin causes people to stop witnessing to save multitudes from hell; sin causes people to be selfish and not care for poor widows and orphans; and sin causes people to fail to call or send encouraging words by letters to people that need kind words to stay alive.

7) Sin ends in misery and death

Whenever the devil tempts you to sin, remember that it's not worth sinning to have fun in the world for a fading moment that ends in misery and death. Memorize and say these scriptures when you are tempted by the devil to sin. Say Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. And say Romans 8:13 For If ye live after the flesh, ye shall die; but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Choose to live with Jesus instead of sinning for a short moment of fun that ends in death. Why settle for fun when you can have everlasting joy with our Lord Jesus?

8) Eventually people will learn about your secret sins causing shame

Wow, when most people sin they say no one sees when I watch pornography, cheat on my wife or husband, or steal secretly from anyone. But God sees you sinner because Numbers 32:23 says Be sure your sin will find you out. What's done in the dark will come to the light.

When anyone watches or does any evil on the internet (looks at pornography or writes harmful words to anyone by email or text) the government tracks every site that people visit. The next time you do a search on google on the internet, notice that you will see suggestions and ads that relate to anything you search. The government is tracking and watching everything you do on the internet where no one has any privacy. When the police are trying to find criminals, they first check to see if the criminal has posted any information on facebook.

And not only the government, but the Lord Jesus sees everything you do on the internet. Proverbs 15:3 says The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. Luke 12:2 says For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid that shall not be made known. Hebrews 4:13 says Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight, but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.  And Ecclesiastes 10:20 says Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber; for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.

Just avoid sinning to avoid shame and embarrassment because people will remember one sin that a person does instead of hundred blessed things a person does. People remember what they ought to forget and forget what they ought to remember. Most people can read a bible verse and forget 3/4 of the bible verse in 3 minutes. But if they hear something bad that a preacher did, they'll remember that one bad thing for the rest of their lives. But hallelujah, Jesus remembers our sins no more, and when we decide to stop sinning, the blood of Jesus will wash us white as snow, where God has no memory of our sins.

9) Sin ruins anyone's testimony and is a bad example to lost sinners

Saint reading this anywhere, do you realize that you may be the only bible that anyone reads? 2 Corinthians 3:2 tells us Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men. Therefore, we should avoid sin and shine the light of Jesus to this lost world. People are watching us constantly on jobs and everywhere to see if it is worth becoming a christian. Don't grumble and mumble all the time like lost heathens in this world, causing people to say these so called christians are no better than heathens. Instead, be a good example of how a christian should live by avoiding sin daily, causing multitudes to accept the Lord Jesus and get saved.
