It's OK To Praise Jesus
Before today's message I had to tell you this story. The mexican man pictured above was trying to get a job in America. The employer told him I'll give you the job if you can say a sentence with three colors (green, pink, and yellow). The mexican replied Si I can tell you a sentence with green, pink, and yellow. The phone goes green, green, green; I pink it up; And say yellow.
Alright, today we will see that it's OK to praise Jesus. Pictured above we see that David rejoiced and shouted praises to our Lord Jesus and ignored his wife Michal's mockings and persecutions. 2 Samuel 6:14 says And David danced before the Lord with all his might and David was girded with a linen ephod. Then 2 Samuel 6:16 goes on to say And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord and she despised him in her heart.
I believe that when David got home to see his wife Michal, Michal told David ain't you a pretty lookin' thing; jumpin and hoopin and hollerin around before all the women and the people showing off. And to top it off, you're the king; you've ruined the dignity of the throne. I've never seen anything like it before in all my life.
I believe David responded to his wife Michal saying Woman I've got news for you; I wasn't showing off to the women; I wasn't showing off to the people; I was blessing God. And I don't care what you think about it or what anyone thinks about it; I'm gonna continue to praise God and the next time I'll praise God louder, even if I am baser and uglier in my own sight.
Take time to read David's blessed response to his wife Michal's mockings about his praises to God at 2 Samuel 6:21 that says And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord which chose me before thy father, and before all this house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel; therefore will I play before the Lord. And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight, and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, them shall I be had in honour. Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.
Friend reading this anywhere, be like David. Keep praising Jesus daily as Lord and ignore the mockings and persecutions from sinners in this world. Every day thank Jesus for dying on the cross for sinners and shedding his blood. Get saved and repent, choose to stop sinning, make Jesus God of your life, and daily say I am crucified with Christ and covered by the blood of Jesus, rejoicing that the blood of Jesus has overcome and defeated the devil and cleansed us from all our sins.
Like David, don't worry when people mock you for praising Jesus as God. They're gonna talk about you anyway. So give them something good to talk about. Find the nearest Walmart bathroom and be like Brother Bob and leap and shout for joy when you are persecuted because you believe Jesus is God. I tell people every christian needs to get in the glory at least once in their life. This is where you have the I can't help its; and say I can't help it I gotta shout for Jesus running and leaping for joy ignoring what people say while they watch you rejoicing. I remember when a preacher told Brother Bob you talk too much about Jesus. I responded and said correction I need to talk more about Jesus and thanks for the compliment, while I leaped for joy.
Note that because Michal mocked and despised David's praise, she was barren and had no child unto the day of her death. Wives if your husband shouts for joy about Jesus, join in with him and encourage him to shout louder. Unlike Michal, be like Mary Magdelene who rejoiced after she was the first person to see Jesus risen from the dead and alive. Mary Magdelene told everyone that Jesus was risen from the dead and shouted praises with the disciples. As a result, Mary Magdeline was blessed and has the honour of being remembered as the first person to see Jesus risen from the dead.
As you look at the two pictures above note that Jesus left this earth with a shout and He's coming back with a shout. So it's OK to shout praises to Jesus. First when Jesus left this earth, Luke 23:46 says Jesus cried with a loud voice (shouted) and He said Father into thy hands I commend my Spirit and having said thus, He gave up the ghost. And 1 Thessalonians 4:16 tells us Jesus is returning to this earth with a shout saying For the Lord (Jesus) Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout. So Jesus left out with a shout and He's coming back with a shout. Billy Kelly said if it's right for our Lord Jesus to shout praises, everyone ought to shout praises to our Lord Jesus.
When Jesus returns to this earth and shouts, every man that's been born again by the Spirit of God will hear that shout that will penetrate the depths of the oceans and this old earth. It'll be gettin' up time, homegoing time, and reunion time in the city of God as the all the saints dead and alive will be caught up to the clouds to be with the Lord Jesus forevermore.
Neighbor reading this anywhere, it's OK to praise Jesus because according to the above picture Psalm 150:6 says Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. Psalm 150 starts out by saying praise Jesus on psaltery and harp (guitars), with trumpets, timbrels, tambourines, stringed instruments, organs, loud cymbals, and high sounding cymbals.
But King David went on to say in Psalm 150, if you can't play an instrument, if you are breathing, Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Bless God, if you can't play a guitar, piano, or organ, you should at least say glory to God, praise the Lord, thank you Jesus if you have breath. It's OK to praise Jesus.
Finally, note Mr. Stone pictured above saying if you won't praise Jesus, then I will. Be like Brother Bob and say I ain't gonna let no rock cry out praises to Jesus instead of me. When the disciples rejoiced and praised Jesus with a loud voice as he rode a colt to the Mount of Olives, Luke 19:39 tells us And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto Him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. And He (Jesus) answered and said unto them, I tell you that if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. Jesus didn't condemn the people's shouts and praises; Jesus condoned their shouts and praises. It's OK to praise Jesus.
And note that the book of Job records that the Sons of God shouted praises of joy when God stepped out on the edge of nothing and made the stars, the moon, the constellations, the fishes of the sea, the fowls of the air, and the wild beasts of the field. God says at Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Job 38:7 goes on to say When the morning stars sang together and all the Sons of God shouted for joy. If it was OK for the morning stars to sing while the Sons of God shouted for joy during God's creation, It's OK to praise Jesus as God.
Also note that Ezra 3:11 tells us when the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid, the people shouted with a great shout. Also at the same time when the ancient men remembered the first house of the Lord that was destroyed, they wept with a loud voice. The bible says that the shouts of joy and weeping were so loud that the noise was heard afar off (a great distance away) and the people couldn't discern the noise of the shouts from the noise of the weepings.. If it was OK for these saints to shout with a great shout when the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid, it's OK to praise Jesus as God.
In the days of Ezra, the people were praising God under the law. How much more should you and I under the grace of our Lord Jesus who saved us from hell shout the victory and praise God because our names are written down in the Lamb's book of life. Luke 10:20 tells us Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you, but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
