Billy Bray's Incredible Testimony

How An Uneducated Drunk Named Billy Bray
Got Saved For Jesus

Billy Bray was born in Cornwall England in 1794. When Billy became seventeen he embarked upon a life of drunkenness, fighting, theft, and many other sins narrowly escaping imprisonment and death. His wife Joanna also lived a sinful life. They both had reputations as the most wicked and evil people alive in England. One day a christian friend working by Billy in a coal mine gave Billy a book by John Bunyan titled Visions Of Heaven And Hell.

In 1823 after reading the book Visions Of Heaven And Hell, Billy decided to live a better life and learn about our Lord Jesus. Billy took his bible and hymn book, went upstairs, and spent the entire day in reading and prayer. After days and nights of seeking Jesus in prayer, Billy Bray got gloriously saved and became a new man altogether. The next day Billy's wife Joanna also got gloriously saved. Like Billy and Joanna Bray, you also can experience salvation and joy with Jesus. Get saved right now; Repent, decide to stop sinning, confess that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

After Salvation Everyone Called Billy Bray God's Man With A Shout
Anytime You Saw Billy Bray He Was Smiling, Singing, And Shouting For Jesus

After Billy Bray got saved, Billy said I cannot express what I felt; I shouted for joy; Everything looked new to me; The people, the fields, the cattle, the trees; I was like a man in a new world. Wherever Billy preached or traveled, Billy would shout, leap, and dance for Jesus. People would tell Billy, there's no need to leap, dance, and make a lot of noise for Jesus. God's not deaf and God knows your heart.

Billy replied the devil's not deaf either and his sinners also make a lot of noise. Therefore I'm always gonna shout praises to Jesus everywhere. I shouted for the devil and I'm gonna shout louder for Jesus. Like Billy Bray, people have told Brother Bob you talk too much about Jesus. Brother Bob replies Correction I need to talk more about Jesus and thanks for the compliment while I leap for joy for everyone to see.

Billy Bray Would Tell Everyone This Blessed Quote

Jesus has made me glad and no one can make me sad
Jesus makes me shout and no one can make me doubt
Jesus makes me dance and leap and there's no one that can keep down my feet

Whenever you met Billy Bray, Billy was dancing, leaping, and shouting praises to Jesus. Whenever Billy Bray heard that anyone got saved for Jesus, Billy would shout Glory. Then Billy would pick up the saved person and leap with them for joy spinning and twirling for Jesus all around the room. One of Billy's favorite bible verses that made him always rejoice was Isaiah 12:1 that says And in that day, thou shalt say, O Lord, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.

Blessed Testimonies About Billy Bray
1) The Story About The Bridge Billy Bray Walked On

Billy Bray told everyone wherever I walk, when I lift up one foot it seems to say Glory To God and when I lift up the other foot it seems to say Praise The Lord and they keep on like that all the time I am walking. Therefore, whenever you saw Billy Bray walking, he was always saying Glory To God Praise The Lord. One night Billy was walking across a stone bridge saying Glory To God Praise The Lord.

His friends decided to play a joke on Billy while hiding under the bridge. When the friends heard Billy walking on the bridge praising Jesus, they yelled through a bullhorn Billy this is the devil I'm right under the bridge. And without missing a step, Billy said Bless God I didn't know you were that far away Glory To God Praise The Lord. We all need to be like Billy Bray and in everything give thanks. Don't ever let the devil steal your joy. Always keep praising Jesus and say Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same, the Lord's name is to be praised. Then proclaim Psalm 51:15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

Like Billy Bray Let Your Life Always Display The Following Three Sayings

Rejoice evermore
In everything give thanks
Pray without ceasing

2) The Story About The Empty Potato Barrel

In everything and through everything Billy Bray always kept praising the Lord Jesus. One day after Billy Bray ran out of potatos, when he stuck his head into an empty potato barrel, Billy yelled Glory To God an empty potato barrel. And one minute later, a truck stopped by in front of Billy's home where a friend said Billy, Jesus told me to give you a bushel of potatos.

3) The Story About A Dress For Joanna Bray In A Basket

One day Billy Bray bought a dress for his wife Joanna Bray and put it in a basket to carry home. While dancing happily and praising Jesus on his way home, Billy did not see the dress come out of the basket. When Billy got home his wife told him that the dress you bought me is not in the basket. Billy joyfully replied Glory to God I danced the dress out of the basket.

The next day Billy Bray told his church that he danced a dress out of a basket. The church took up an offering and gave Billy another dress for his wife. But then two days later, someone found Billy's lost dress and gave it to Billy. Billy rejoiced and told everyone Glory to God I got two dresses for one.

4) The Story of How Billy Bray Used All His Money To Help A Farmer Buy A Cow

Billy Bray once found two little orphan children ( a boy and a girl) whose mother had died and whose father had run away. Billy added them to his own four children and he and Joanna brought them up in their own family till they could earn their own living. One day the little orphan girl got sick and Billy needed to take money to the doctor to get medicine for the little orphan girl.

Billy only had 37 cents to pay the doctor for the medicine. This would be like 37 dollars today in American money. On the way to the doctor's office, Billy heard a man crying behind a hedge who was a farmer. The poor farmer was crying because one of his cows died. Billy gave that farmer the 37 cents to buy a new cow.

And after Billy gave the 37 cents to the farmer, Billy said there's no sense now to visit the doctor. Well Glory To God Praise The Lord; I'll just jump over the hedge, go back home, and trust Jesus to heal my little orphan daughter. And when Billy got back home, the little orphan girl was totally healed. Billy was always giving away money trusting that Jesus promised give and it will be given to me good measure pressed down shaken together and running over will men give to my bosom. People said Billy Bray could not keep two hats two days if he knew a brother in Jesus in want of one.

5) The Story Of How Billy Bray Used All His Money To Build A Church
And Kept Praising Jesus After His Wife Joanna Died

One day the doctor told Billy and Joanna Bray that their little orphan boy had an incurable disease. Billy saved up a little money to prepare for the burial and funeral for this little orphan boy. Then one Sunday at church, the members needed more money to build the church pictured above. Billy Bray decided to give away all the money he saved for the little orphan boy to help build this church. Eventually, the little orphan boy got miraculously healed, grew up, got married, and had 10 children.

Billy Bray always praised Jesus and never let any trouble steal his joy. When Billy's wife Joanna died, Billy was leaping for joy on his furniture and all around his house. Everyone thought Billy had lost his mind. But Billy told everyone O Glory To God; Isn't it wonderful; Isn't it wonderful; Just think my wife's gone home to be with the angels. My dear wife has gone up with the bright ones. She's escaped earth's toils and sufferings to rest in the bliss of heaven.

Like Billy Bray We Need To Learn To Always Praise God
Through Everything With A Sacrifice Of Thanksgiving

Billy Bray Gave Jesus A Sacrifice Of Thanksgiving Saying
The kid's sick-OK Praise God
The kid's dying-OK Praise God
The wife's dead-OK Praise God
Billy Bray didn't let anything stop him from praising Jesus
because the joy of the Lord is our strength

Like Billy Bray in everything (not for everything) give thanks and always keep praising Jesus with a sacrifice of thanksgiving. My friend Brother Carl used to say even when you don't feel like praising Jesus, praise Jesus anyway and wave your hands at Jesus. Hebrews 13:15 tells us By Him (Jesus) therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name. And Psalm 116:17 says I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.

6) The Story About A Candelabra And How To Pray

Someone once asked Billy Bray How long should we pray at a time to stay healthy
Billy pointed to a candelabra that needed polishing and said
If you give it a rub every 5 minutes you'll keep it bright
But if you don't rub it a long time, it'll take a long rub to get it bright again

7) The Story About The Day Billy Bray Died Rejoicing To Be With Jesus

Till the age of 73, Billy Bray danced, leaped, and shouted his way through each day praising our Lord Jesus. He told the doctor on his death bed, when I get to heaven doctor can I give everyone there your compliments and tell them that you'll be coming to peaceful heaven soon. At the time the doctor was not saved but years later this doctor got saved because of Billy's witness on his death bed. And Billy Bray's final word was Glory when he died on May 25, 1868.

Blessed Testimonies About Billy Bray
8) Billy Bray's Favorite Scriptures About Why We Should Always Praise Jesus

Billy Bray told everyone the following scriptures about why he always praised Jesus with a loud joyful shout. Billy said every time I seek the Lord I get happy because 1 Chronicles 16:10 says Glory ye in His holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. And Billy said that I always rejoice in Jesus because Psalm 30:11 says Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Then Billy Bray told everyone that I'll keep leaping joyfully everywhere for Jesus because Jeremiah 31:13 says Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and I will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. And Isaiah 61:3 tells us To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified.

When Billy Bray would shout praises everywhere, people would say Billy you're a mad man. Billy would reply I'm a glad man and Glory To God Praise The Lord I'm a glad man forevermore because Psalm 40:2 says He (Jesus) brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

Billy Bray said I want to be like Pastor Edward Payson who said If men only knew the honour and glory that awaited them in Jesus, they would go about the streets shouting I am a christian saved by Jesus that men might rejoice with them in the blessedness of which they were soon to partake. Billy Bray told everyone even though I don't see Jesus, I always rejoice and praise Jesus because 1 Peter 1:8 says Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. And Philippians 4:4 tells us Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say rejoice. And remember James 1:2 tells us My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations.

Below Are The Words Of Billy Brays Favorite Hymn About Glory
Hark How the Heralds Of The Lord
Sing The Words And Receive Strength, Peace, And Joy

Hark how the heralds of the Lord
To endless joys invite us
Proclaim the everlasting Word
That to our God unites us
They cry to all the world to come
Your Saviour's gone before you
Return ye ransomed sinners home
To glory, glory, glory

Gross darkness flies before the sun
Back to the pit retiring
To us the glorious light is come
With hope our souls inspiring
Mercy and grace for all our race
Through Jesus is the story
There we may see Him face to face
In glory, glory, glory

Numbers increase from day to day
In Jesus' cause uniting
Sorrow and darkness flee away
His love their hearts delighting
Ethiopian lands stretch out their hands
Hearing the pleasant story
And thousands march from distant lands
To glory, glory, glory

Lepers are cleansed, the dead are raised
The lame now walk before Him
The dumb are taught to sing His praise
The blind see and adore Him
The rich, the poor, the young, the old
The infant, and the hoary
They all through Christ their crown insure
In glory, glory, glory

Then let us rally around the cross
Despising worldly pleasure
And gladly reckon all things loss
For Christ our hidden treasure
Rejoice and sing, The Lord is King
And we'll repeat the story
We'll make the heavenly mansions ring
With songs of glory, glory

Four Proofs Of Salvation

Four Proofs Of Salvation
1) Denial Of Self With Daily Humility

The first proof of salvation occurs when people realize that their worst enemy outside of the devil is themself. Daily deny your self with the Word, prayer, and church. When anyone daily reads (memorizes) the Word of God, prays, and attends their local church, it will help them stop sinning. On the other hand, if anyone does not read the Word, pray, or go to church, they will sin. We must daily try to stop sinning because Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death. Remember sin is not worth it; the quick thrill and pleasure of sin always ends in misery and death. So we all need to run to Jesus and the Word of God that offers peace, health, and joy forevermore.

Now most people forget Jesus and try by their own good works to get saved with peace. Romans 10:3 tells us For they being ignorent of God's righteousness (Salvation with Jesus by faith) and going about to establish their own righteousness have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. You see we have to humble ourselves and not boast about our good works; instead we need to boast about how faith in Jesus can save people. 1 Corinthians 1:31 says That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. And Titus 3:5 says Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He (Jesus) saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. Right now get saved; Repent, decide to stop sinning, believe Jesus is God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

A Story About A Father Riding A Mule
Who Needed To Learn Humilty

One day two boys asked their father to teach them how to ride a stubborn mule like the one pictured above on a farm by Brother Bob. After one minute, the mule kicked the father off. The father was not humble and said boys that's how you ride a mule; You jump off right before the mule kicks you. But daddy needs to humble himself and admit he got kicked off and can't ride a mule.

Another Story About A Man Who Talked To Himself
Who Needed To Learn Humility

One day a man was talking to himself
Another man asked him why do you talk to yourself
The proud man replied I like to hear a smart man talk
And second place I enjoy talking to a smart man

Unlike the two proud men who had no humility, let's obey the bible and humble ourselves and allow Jesus to shine everywhere we travel. James 4:10 promises Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He shall lift you up. Luke 14:11 says For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. And Jesus said at Luke 9:23 If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Let's be like John the Baptist who said at John 3:30 He (Jesus) must increase; but I must decrease.

Remember avoid pride (thinking you are better than everyone because of your education, race, or background). Instead humble yourself and love the unloveable, bless all people from all races, and always forgive and be kind to everyone. Proverbs 16:18 warns us Pride goeth before destruction and an haughty spirit before a fall. Remember this motto for success in life; Avoid angry people, forgive forever. Don't be bitter or hold a grudge. Hebrews 12:15 tells us Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you and thereby many be defiled. Avoid bitterness that creates trouble for everyone.

Four Proofs Of Salvation
2) Love Not The World

The second proof of salvation occurs when people realize that the world is their enemy while they walk with Jesus. James 4:4 tells us Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. And 1 John 2:15 says Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

The bible says that we are strangers and pilgrims on this earth looking for a better home with Jesus in heaven. 1 Peter 2:11 says Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul. Don't get attached to this world; It's impossible to find everlasting joy in anything down here on this earth. This is because everlasting joy is up there in heavenly places with Christ. And one day soon according to Ephesians 2:6 Jesus is gonna raise us (the saved saints) up together and have us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus with eternal peace.

The reason Jesus made the world your enemy is because God wants you to get your eyes off this world and focus on Jesus and the better things of heaven. Jesus told us at John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you that in me ye might have peace; in the world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. And Colossians 3:1-2 tells us If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Jesus Is Better Than This World Because Jesus Offers

Complete pardon for the worst sins on this earth
Sweetest comfort for the direst agony
The brightest hope for the darkest death
The grandest resurrection for the most corruptible type of depravity

Finally don't be fooled and think that the religions of this world can save you. Only faith in Jesus without religious tradition can save anyone. The church is only a messenger of salvation; Not the giver of salvation. It's not the blood of Jesus plus water, wafers, and works that saves; It's the blood of Jesus plus nothing that saves. Remember Psalm 39:5 says Every man at his best state (by religion) is altogether vanity. Trust Jesus and go to heaven; Trust anything else and go to hell and the lake of fire. Jesus said at John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If you're truly saved, you'll swim upstream against the wicked downstream popular views of this fading world.

Religion Is What A Man Does To Save Himself
Salvation Is What God Gives A Sinner Who Knows He Can't Save Himself

Four Proofs Of Salvation
3) Realizing You Owe God A Debt That You Can Not Pay

The third proof of salvation occurs when people realize that they owe God a debt that they can not pay. Jesus paid His own blood (the redemption price) to free saved saints from their debt of sin. 1 Peter 1:18 says Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition  from your fathers. But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot.

Jesus Paid It All; All To Him I Owe
Sin Had Left A Crimson Stain; He Washed It White As Snow
Sing Jesus Paid It All; It Will Heal And Give You Strength

Every saved saint owes God a debt that they can not pay. If a person got saved and stopped sinning, that person would still owe a debt to Jesus for eliminating his past sins before salvation by the blood of Jesus. This is why we all need to praise Jesus for shedding his precious blood to remove our sins. One day soon in heaven all the saved saints will forever praise Jesus for redeeming us from sin with His precious blood. Revelation 5:9 says And they sung a new song saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof; for thou wast slain and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.

Four Proofs Of Salvation
4) Rejoicing Through Persecution

The fourth proof of salvation occurs when saved saints rejoice through persecution. James 1:2 says My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations. Luke 6:22 says Blessed are ye when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy; for, behold, your reward is great in heaven; for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. Be like Brother Bob and find the nearest Walmart bathroom and leap for joy when you are persecuted for Jesus.

To get strength through persecutions and sufferings for Jesus say 2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction which is but for a moment worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Also say Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Be like Jeremiah and say Jeremiah 20:9 But His Word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing and I could not stay.

Keep Witnessing And Winning Souls For Jesus Through Persecutions

Could a lifeguard be idle if he heard a drowning cry
Would a doctor sit comfortably while he watched his patient die
Would a fireman watch men burning and not give them a hand
Can you sit in ease in Zion with the world around you damned

I pray in Jesus name that this bible study blesses multitudes all over this earth with great joy, peace, and strength.
