Pictured above we see a flat top aircraft carrier that will teach us about accepting the Lord Jesus today without any delay. Flat top aircraft carriers are big boats that airplanes land on. When a jet airplane lands on one of these boats, the pilot has to hit the edge of the boat and use all the runway to get stopped. There are seven tension wires that catch incoming planes and stop them from going over into the ocean.
Now if a pilot catches his plane on the first tension wire at the edge of the boat, the plane will be stopped by this wire and go E, EE, EEE, EEEE, EEEEE and stop safely on the runway. But if the pilot misses the first two tension wires and catches the third tension wire down the runway, the plane goes E, E, E, and goes over into the ocean. These pilots know that they can use the runway in front of them, but they can't use the runway behind them when landing on these flat tops. These pilots also know that they need to start putting on the brakes back yonder instead of down yonder.
Neighbor reading this anywhere like pilots landing on flat tops, we all need to remember that we can only use what's in front of us and no longer use what's behind us. Be like a successful pilot landing on a flat top and put the brakes on sin early in your life to avoid a wasted life. Don't start stopping to sin down yonder when you should have started stopping back yonder.
Put the brakes on drugs, alcohol, and fornication. Get saved, repent, decide to stop sinning, confess that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again. Repent and turn from your sins to live every day for our Lord Jesus. Get saved at an early age and avoid the regret of a wasted life by putting the brakes on sin too late. Remember, you can use the runway in front of you, but you can no longer use the runway behind you. Ecclesiastes 12:1 says Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.
2 Corinthians 6:2 says For He (Jesus) saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. Friends turn to Jesus now because sin shortens lives. Proverbs 10:27 says The fear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened. Remember, drugs, alcohol, and fornication remove years from a person's life. But the good news is that if a person gets saved saying I am crucified with Jesus Christ, the blood of Jesus will wash away all sin, and their days will be prolonged with peace.
For our next biblical rhyme, let's talk about the two pictures of sparrows above. Matthew 10:29 speaks about the first picture saying Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. Luke 12:6 speaks about the second picture saying Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Now notice that two sparrows are sold for a farthing and five sparrows are sold for two farthings. If you pay two farthings, you get a bargain. You get an extra odd bird; an inconspicuous and unimportant extra fifth sparrow. The person purchasing this extra odd bird might overlook and not care for this fifth little sparrow. But God won't forget this fifth little sparrow and be with him each time he lands on the ground.
Now if God cares about little sparrows, God cares about you friend reading this. His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me. How comforting to know that God notices little sparrows and the number of the very hairs on our heads. The smallest detail never escapes God's notice. Like sparrows, God remembers and cares about you friend reading this anywhere. Isaiah 49:15 tells us Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
Neighbor anywhere you are important to Jesus like sparrows and Philippians 4:19 says But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Also the Lord Jesus promises saints everywhere to be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time at 1 Peter 1:5. Hallelujah, Jesus takes care of the little fifth inconspicuous sparrow and all His precious saints.
Alright, for my last blessed biblical rhyme today we see pictured above four wives named Ethel, Jane, Martha, and Mary earnestly watching for their husbands to return from a day of fishing on boats. But a fifth wife named Bertha stayed at home, waiting for her husband to return.
Now when the five husbands returned to the shore on their boat after fishing all day, Henry said I see Ethel, Billy said I see Jane, Jimmy said I see Martha, Jerry said I see Mary, but Clyde said Where's Bertha, I don't see her anywhere. When Clyde got home, he asked Bertha, Why didn't you watch for me on the shore? Bertha replied, Clyde I was waiting for you all day at home. Clyde responded to Bertha and said You were waiting, but you were not watching for me.
Many of us today are like the bride Bertha just waiting and not watching for the bridegroom Jesus to return and catch us up in the clouds to be with the Lord Jesus forever. Neighbor, we all have to wait for Jesus' return, but how about watching for Jesus' return with earnest expectation. Romans 8:19 says For the earnest expectation (persistent watching) of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Friends everywhere, let's not just wait for Jesus; Let's earnestly watch and abide daily with Jesus, denying sin and this fading world constantly. 1 John 2:28 says And now, little children, abide in Him (Jesus); that when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. Jesus said at John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
To end up today's lesson, I give you all a parable encouraging you to live constantly for the Lord Jesus. Here it is: Three frogs were sitting on lily pads in the middle of a pond; One decided to jump; How many frogs does this leave? The answer is three because the one frog decided to but did not jump. This is the way a lot of people are today; They have decided that sometime in the future they will live for Jesus and refuse to make Jesus the Lord of their life today. Let's all be witnesses and tell people to get saved today, repent, decide to stop sinning, confess that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died on the cross for them, was buried, and rose again. Alright here's other blessed saying: Get vertically right with God and then you'll be horizontally right with everyone.
