Studying Nehemiah's 12 Gates To Learn About The Christian Life: The Fountain Gate: A Message About The Holy Spirit

The Fountain Gate

The sixth gate that speaks about the christian life is the fountain gate. The fountain gate represents moving water and the Holy Spirit. Christians need to get filled daily with the Holy Spirit at the fountain gate to overcome sin and the troubles of this world. Jesus said at John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers (a fountain) of living water. But this spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified. When God created everything, the Holy Spirit was a fountain of moving water. Genesis 1:2 says And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. This is why christians sing the hymn Every time I feel the Spirit moving in my heart, I will pray.

And Sing Every Time I Feel The Spirit I Will Pray
I Guarantee That You Will Have Peace And Be Strengthened
When You Sing This Song; Jesus Bless You All.

After a christian gets saved at the sheep gate, witnesses Jesus at the fish gate, respects the old blessed ways of the bible at the old gate, overcomes the troubles of this world in the valley gate, and gets rid of the dung trash sin from his former sinful life at the dung gate, he needs to fill up with the Holy Spirit and replace his past sinful habits at the fountain gate. Galatians 5:16 says This I (Paul) say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

To be filled with the Spirit, every day study and read the 1611 KJV Word of God, pray, and fellowship with other christians at your local church. Word, Prayer, and Church fellowship daily will stop a person from sinning and bless them. If a christian stops reading the Word of God, stops praying, and stops fellowshipping at church, he will sin. It's not enough to just confess your sins. A christian must also forsake and stop sinning. Proverbs 28:13 says He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Christians need to stop sinning and get filled with the Spirit at the fountain gate to avoid trouble and death. Romans 6:23 says for the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus left the Holy Spirit on this earth to comfort us and overcome the troubles of this world. Every day get filled with the Spirit while you read and study God's Word, pray, and fellowship, so you can overcome any worries, sickness, and troubles in this world.

Get saved and receive the Holy Spirit at the fountain gate
Get saved, repent, decide to stop sinning,
Confess that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel
That Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again

The fountain gate is mentioned at Nehemiah 3:15: But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Colhozeh, the ruler of part of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king's garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David. Note that there were many workers who built the fountain gate and the Hebrew definitions of the fountain gate workers all represent the Holy Spirit. Shallun means prosperous and peaceful because his father Colhozeh was all seeing and blessed by the Holy Spirit at the city of Mizpah that was a watchtower.

I'll list the names of the other workers and their Hebrew definitions that built the fountain gate listed from Nehemiah 3:16-25 that represent the Holy Spirit. Nehemiah means God comforts because the Holy Ghost is the Comforter. Azbuk means strong devastation because the Holy Spirit fights our battles and brings strong devastation to the devil. Zechariah 4:6 says Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. The city of Bethzur means House of the Rock because Jesus the Rock is one with the Holy Spirit. When you get saved with Jesus you receive the Holy Spirit.

Rehum means God's compassion and tender mercy to the children of God. Bani means builder. Jesus left the Holy Spirit on this earth to bring compassion and tender mercy to saved saints to overcome this troubled world and build strength. Hashabiah means God has considered. The city of Keilah means fortress. Jesus considered his saints and sent the Holy Spirit to be a fortress and protect them daily.

Bavai means a wisher that receives the desires of his heart. Henadad means the favor and grace of God. Because the Holy Spirit gives saints favor and grace, they receive the desires of their heart. Ezer means helper and Jeshua means God is salvation. The Holy Ghost is our helper and our salvation to overcome any trouble. Baruch means blessed and Zabbai means pure and flowing. Christians get blessed by the pure and flowing Holy Spirit at the fountain gate.

Next let's look at the worker named Baruch who built the fountain gate. Nehemiah 3:20 says After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired the other piece, from the turning of the wall unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest. Baruch was special and went the extra mile when he earnestly repaired the fountain gate. Baruch didn't just repair the fountain gate. Baruch earnestly repaired the fountain gate. Let's all be like Baruch and earnestly witness Jesus everywhere going the extra mile to tell people about Jesus. Let's deny our sinful flesh and not be selfish while we make every effort to earnestly witness Jesus everywhere to save lost sinners on this earth.

The Lord Jesus noted Baruch's extra earnest efforts and will remember christians' extra earnest efforts with greater rewards at the Bema judgment seat after the rapture. Rewards at the Bema judgment seat of Christ are determined by what sort (quality or earnest amount of effort) that you sacrificed while you witnessed Jesus everywhere on this earth. 1 Corinthians 3:13 says Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort (quality) it is.

Remember that if you only served the Lord Jesus halfheartedly and chose to enjoy temporary selfish desires instead of witnessing Jesus, your rewards at the Bema judgment seat in heaven will be diminished. Therefore witness Jesus and help poor orphans and widows with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Let's all obey Mark 12:30 that says And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. Jesus said at Matthew 25:40 Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Note that Meremoth was like Baruch and went the extra mile witnessing Jesus. Meremoth who earlier built the fish gate also built the fountain gate. Like Meremoth, after you complete a task for Jesus, continue to serve Jesus and be willing to complete new tasks for the Lord Jesus. There is no retirement when you witness about Jesus and save lost sinners. Meremoth means exaltations, elevations, and heights with Jesus. Urijah means God is my light. Like Meremoth, let the Holy Spirit by your light to exalt you to higher heights while you continue to serve our Lord Jesus.

Note the Hebrew definitions of the other workers who built the fountain gate that represent the Holy Spirit and Jesus. Benjamin means son of the right hand who is Jesus. Hashub means considerate and thoughtful. With Jesus and God's Spirit christians become considerate and thoughtful. Azariah means the Lord has helped us with the Comforter Holy Spirit. Maaseiah means a worker for God under God's Holy Ghost refuge. Ananiah means God has answered by covering us with the Holy Spirit's protection. Binnui means built up. Henadad means favor and grace of God. Christians are built up by the favor and grace of God's Holy Spirit.

Palal means praying. Uzai means strength. Pedaiah means God has ransomed and redeemed us by the blood of Jesus. Parosh means leaping and jumping for joy. When christians keep praying, the Holy Spirit will strengthen them. Christians will leap, jump, and shout for joy because they have been redeemed and set free by the precious blood of Jesus that removed their sins forever.

When A Person Gets Saved They Receive The Holy Spirit At Salvation
They Can Not Lose The Holy Spirit Or Their Salvation
Once Saved Always Saved

When a person gets saved with Jesus, they receive the Holy Spirit and can not lose the Holy Spirit. The Father, Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one. 1 John 5:7 says For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, The Word (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. When anyone receives Jesus, they also receive the Holy Spirit. You don't get saved with Jesus and then work to receive the Holy Spirit at a later date.

Note the following scriptures that prove that when a person gets saved they receive the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:5 says Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. In other words when Jesus saves anyone they are renewed and receive the Holy Ghost. Romans 8:9 says But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His. In other words if a person does not have the Holy Spirit they are not saved. But when a person gets saved they belong to Jesus and have the Holy Spirit.

When a person confesses that Jesus is Lord to get saved, they say Jesus is Lord by the Holy Ghost and receive the Holy Spirit at salvation. 1 Corinthians 12:3 says Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed (a saved saint can not blaspheme the Holy Spirit; only an unsaved sinner can blaspheme the Holy Spirit): and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

John 14:26 tells us that the Holy Ghost is called the Comforter. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Jesus said at John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever. In other words after salvation with Jesus, the Holy Spirit abides with the saved saints for ever and they can not lose the Holy Spirit.

A saved saint in the church age dispensation of the grace of God can not lose the Holy Spirit after salvation. Once saved always saved for the church age saints.  Jesus said at John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me: and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. Jesus said at John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all, and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

In other words I might look like a rooster but I ain't ever been plucked out of God's hand and lost my salvation. I'm not holding God's hand where I can lose my salvation. Jesus' nail scarred hand is reaching down and holding my hand forever with the promise that Jesus gives me eternal life that can not be lost. And I can't jump out of God's hand because I'm in Christ married to Jesus and bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh (the bride of Christ). Romans 12:5 says that we are in Christ as His bride. So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 2 Timothy 1:12 also says that we can't lose salvation. For the which cause I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He (Jesus and not our good works) is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.

Once saved always saved. You don't hope to have salvation, think you might have salvation, or wait to find out if you have salvation when you die; When you get saved and believe Jesus is God and the gospel that Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again, you know right away presently that you have salvation and eternal life that can not be lost. Ignore people that say you have to keep doing good works to assure your salvation. If our good works saved us, we wouldn't need to trust in Jesus for salvation. Ephesians 2:8 says For by grace are ye saved through faith (in Jesus alone); and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

You don't work to be saved; You work because you are saved. I would not work my soul to save for this my Lord has done but I would work like any slave for love of his dear Son. We do good works after salvation (created in Christ Jesus unto good works) to let others see Jesus where later at the Bema judgment seat after the rapture we will receive rewards for our good works.

Jesus promised at John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my Word and believeth on Him that sent me hath (presently right now) everlasting life (that can not be lost) and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life. 1 Peter 1:5 promises Who are kept by the power of God (not our good works) through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Ephesians 4:30 says And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. When any saved church age saint gets saved and receives the Holy Spirit, they can not lose the Holy Spirit and are sealed unto the day of redemption (until the rapture when they receive glorified bodies and live forever with Jesus).

Even Though You Can't Lose The Holy Spirit After Salvation
Saved Saints Must Remain Full Of The Holy Spirit
To Overcome The Devil And The Troubled World

Even though you can't lose the Holy Spirit after salvation, saved saints must remain full of the Holy Spirit to overcome the devil and the troubled world. When Brother Bob visits the Shell station, he needs to fill up his Nissan Versa to keep it working. Every saved saint needs to daily fill up their vessels with the Holy Spirit by praying, staying in God's Word, and fellowshipping to have strength to overcome the devil and this troubled world. Ephesians 5:18 says And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess: but be filled (make full or fill to the full) with the spirit. Note that the Greek definition for being filled with the spirit is to make full or fill to the full. In other words the Holy Spirit always remains in a saved saint but daily needs to be replenished so the Holy Spirit can be filled to the full and overflowing to overcome the devil and this troubled world.

After you get filled with the Holy Spirit and overflowing with joy say Ephesians 3:20 Now unto Him (the Lord Jesus) that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Say Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Say Jude 24 Now unto Him (the Lord Jesus) that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.

Saved Saints Are Occupied By Jesus And The The Holy Spirit
With No Vacancy For Any Devil
Tell The Devil Occupied No Vacancy

A devil can not possess a saved saint and enter into him but a devil can oppress a saved saint and burden him. 1 John 5:18 says We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not (the saved saints' soul and spirit don't sin but his body (flesh can continue to sin); but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one (the devil) toucheth him not. No devil can enter, touch, or possess a saved saint's body. Saved saints reading this anywhere tell the devil I'm occupied by Jesus and filled by the Holy Spirit and there is no vacancy for you devil. Devil you can't touch me and when I resist the devil, the devil must flee. James 4:7 says Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Ephesians 4:27 says Neither give place to the devil. Jesus said at Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

The Fountain Gate Represents The Blood Of Jesus
That Washes And Cleanses Christians From Their Sins

While Jesus was dying on the cross of Calvary, a Roman soldier pierced his side. John 19:34 says But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced His side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. The reason that blood and water came out of Jesus' side is because the blood of Jesus washes away the sins of saved saints. Revelation 1:5 says And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood. 1 John 1 :7 says But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

One of Brother Bob's favorite songs is There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuel's veins; and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains. Zechariah 13:1 speaks about the fountain of Jesus' blood that removes sins. In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.  Brother Bob believes that the soldier that pierced Jesus' side got saved and washed by the actual blood of Jesus because Mark 15:39 says And when the centurion, which stood over against Him, saw that He so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

And sing the words below for the hymn There Is A Fountain Filled With Blood

There is a fountain filled with blood; Drawn from Immanuels' veins
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains

The dying thief rejoiced to see that fountain in his day
And there may I though vile as he wash all my sins away

Dear dying Lamb thy precious blood shall never lose its power
Till all the ransomed ones of God be saved to sin no more

Eer since by faith I saw the stream thy flowing wounds supply
Redeeming love has been my theme and shall be till I die

When this poor lisping stammering tongue lies silent in the grave
Then in a nobler sweeter song I'll sing thy power to save

Studying Nehemiah's 12 Gates To Learn About The Christian Life: The Dung Gate

The Dung Gate

The fifth gate that speaks about the christian life is the dung gate. At the dung gate christians live clean, holy, and sanctified lives while they deny the old sinful dung habits of their former sinful life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Be like Paul and say Philippians 3:8. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ. And be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.

Daily deny your flesh and the old sinful dung habits of your former sinful life by studying the 1611 KJV bible, fellowshipping at your local church, and by praying. In other words Word, Church, and Prayer every day will overcome the devil and give you victory over your prior sinful dung habits. If you are not studying God's Word, attending church, or praying, you will start sinning and experience trouble. Luke 9:23 says And He (Jesus) said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Decide to get saved with the Lord Jesus today and leave your prior sinful dung habits while you get washed clean by the blood of Jesus and become a new creature. After salvation with Jesus, it's a new day where your prior sins are forgotten forever by the Lord Jesus. People remember your prior sins but the Lord Jesus imputes and keeps no record of your prior dung sins after salvation. Romans 4:8 says Blessed (happy) is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

1 John 1:7 says But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin. The Lord Jesus is so much better than anything in this fading troubled world. Jesus said at John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Choose the peace of Jesus instead of the temporary pleasures of this troubled world. Get saved, repent, decide to stop sinning, confess that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again.

The Dung Gate Was Built By Malchiah The Son Of Rechab

The dung gate was built by Malchiah the son of Rechab. Nehemiah 3:14 says But the dung gate repaired Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Bethhaccerem, he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof. Only one named worker (Malchiah) was willing to build the dung gate and deny his prior sinful habits. The fewest number of workers built the dung gate. Even fewer than Hanun and the citizens of Zanoah who built the valley gate.

Not many christians are willing to be like Malchiah and deny the dung sins from this temporary troubled world and build the dung gate. Most people are lukewarm and enjoy the pleasures of this fading world while they claim to be christians. The church has become worldly and the world has become churchy. Either you live for Jesus or you live for the world. There is no lukewarm middle ground with Jesus. Jesus said at Matthew 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. Jesus said at Revelation 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Don't be lukewarm loving this troubled world. Instead choose to live daily for our Lord Jesus while you deny your prior sinful habits and receive Jesus' peace that passeth all understanding.

Note the Hebrew meanings about Malchiah the son of Rechab who ruled Bethhaccerem, who was the only named worker at the dung gate. Malchiah means My King is God. Rechab means a horseman rider soldier who is fighting the good fight of faith. Bethhaccarem means the house of the vineyard where they make wine. Like Malchiah, if the Lord Jesus is king of your life, you'll want to get the dung, junk, and filth from your prior sinful life out of your life and live for Jesus. You'll obey James 1:21 that says Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity (wickedness and sin from your prior sinful life before salvation with Jesus) of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted Word, which is able to save your souls.

Malchiah was willing to deny his flesh and build the dung gate because he was the son of Rechab and honored the laws of holiness created by the Rechabites from his nation. The Rechabites taught their children to deny the sin of getting drunk with wine while they lived in tents instead of vineyards where wine was made. Malchiah was a ruler over Bethhaccarem (the house of the vineyard where they made wine) because he got the victory over the sin of drunkenness from wine while he lived in tents instead of Bethhaccarem and any house of the vineyard.

We learn about the Rechabites when they refused to drink wine offered to them by Jeremiah pictured above. Jeremiah 35:5 says And I (Jeremiah) set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink ye wine. But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab (whose name means willing to obey God) the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons forever: Neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land where ye be strangers.

Jeremiah 35:8 goes on to say Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters; Nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed: But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

Be Like Malchiah And Don't Get Drunk With Wine Or Strong Drink
Avoid The Sin Of Drunkenness From Wine, Beer, And Any Liqour

The following scriptures warn us to avoid getting drunk from wine, beer, or any liquor. Proverbs 20:1 says Wine is a mocker; strong drink is raging; and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. In other words avoid getting drunk with wine or strong drink because it causes Jesus who is wisdom (noted at 1 Corinthians 1:30) to leave you. Proverbs 23:29 says Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red (fermented), when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.

When you walk through the grocery store don't look at the wine and beer bottles. Don't attend a sporting event where they pass beer down the aisle to spectators. Habakkuk 2:15 says Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness. 2 Corinthians 6:17 says Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Note that 1 Timothy 5:23 says Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities. According to this scripture, it's alright to drink just a little wine to heal sickness. But don't sin and drink excess (much) wine to get drunk when you are not sick. Ephesians 5:18 says And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess (called profligacy with reckless behavior); but be filled with the Spirit. Proverbs 23:21 warns us For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

Get Rid Of The Rubbish (Prior Sins From Your Past Sinful Life)
To Be Strong And Have Peace With Jesus

The builders of Nehemiah's walls and gates had to get rid of the rubbish sin at the dung gate in order to be a strong and effective witness for Jesus. Nehemiah 4:10 says And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall. Nehemiah's workers did not have strength to build the walls or gates until they got rid of their prior sinful habits before salvation. The temporary pleasures of sin in this troubled world are rubbish that decay and remove strength. Get rid of the rubbish sins you enjoyed before salvation with Jesus so you can have strength to be an effective witness for Jesus and win souls everywhere. Deny your flesh daily by studying God's Word, praying, and attending your local church. We must deny the sins of our flesh to be strong, survive, and overcome this troubled world.

Luke 21:34 says And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting (hangover after getting drunk), and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. 1 Thessalonians 4:7 says For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

Study The Following Scriptures To Help You Deny Your Sinful Flesh
And Receive Strength To Overcome This Troubled World
And Be An Effective Witness For Jesus

In order to be an effective witness for Jesus, we must daily deny our prior sinful habits before salvation with Jesus and live holy, clean, and sanctified lives. Decide today to surround yourself with God's Word, prayer, and fellowship with other christians. We can't even see the Lord Jesus until we deny sin and daily live clean, holy, and consecrated lives. Hebrews 12:14 says Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.

The temporary pleasures of sin will cause God to ignore your prayers. Psalm 66:18 says If I regard iniquity (sin) in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. Confess your sin to Jesus and the blood of Jesus will remove your sin and Jesus will give you confidence and grant your prayer requests.

Scriptures To Help You Deny Sin
And Receive Strength To Overcome This Troubled World

Ephesians 4:29 says Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth (stop swearing and cursing around people), but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind on to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Colossians 3:5 says Mortify (put to death) therefore your members (past sins of your flesh) which are upon the earth; fornication (sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman), uncleanness, inordinate affection (sinful lusts), evil concupiscence (desire for what is forbidden by God), and covetousness (greed to obtain money at casinos and with lottery tickets), which is idolatry (stay away from casinos where people gamble and worship money instead of the Lord Jesus). For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked sometime, when ye lived in them.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice (desire to injure), blasphemy (slander that speaks against God or a person's reputation), filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness (gentleness), longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity (brotherly love), which is the bond of perfectness.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.

1 Peter 2:1 says Wherefore laying aside all malice (desire to injure), and all guile (deceit), and hypocrisies (fake acting with false words to obtain money like a lawyer), and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Daily study God's Word to stop all malice, guile, hypocrisies, envies, and evil speaking. The Word of God will wash you clean and give you strength to overcome your flesh and past sinful desires. Ephesians 5:26 says That He (Jesus) might sanctify and cleanse it (the church) with the washing of water by the Word. Jesus said at John 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Scriptures Telling Us To Live Holy And Sanctified Lives
To Receive Strength And Overcome This Troubled World

2 Corinthians 7:1 says Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 1 Peter 1:15 says But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. Romans 8:13 says For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Titus 2:12 says Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldy lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Note that it is not enough to just confess your sins. You must also forsake your sins and stop sinning to receive mercy from our Lord Jesus and overcome your troubles. Proverbs 28:13 says He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. How comforting to know that 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, He (Jesus) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
