Are You Going A Little Farther With Jesus? How Far Are You Willing To Go With Jesus?

Are You Going A Little Farther With Jesus?
How Far Are You Willing To Go With Jesus?

Our Lord Jesus went a little farther for everyone when He died on the cross of Calvary to remove our sins. Jesus went a little farther in the garden of Gethsemane and was willing to suffer and die on the cross to remove our sins. Our Lord Jesus is the leader of the little farther crowd. Matthew 26:39 says And He (Jesus) went a little farther, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.

If you want to be a blessing in this world you'll have to go a little farther like Jesus. You'll have to continue to witness Jesus while you ignore sufferings and persecutions. To be an effective witness for our Lord Jesus, remember Jesus' guidelines for perseverance. 1 Peter 2:21 says For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps: Who did not sin, neither was guile found in His mouth: Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously.

In other words when you suffer for Jesus, don't threaten but let go and let God. Daily say I am crucified with Jesus Christ and see your troubles destroyed on the cross of Calvary. Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. Without Jesus we can do nothing. Jesus said at John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same briingeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Are you willing to be like Jesus and go a little farther with Jesus? Are you willing to witness Jesus more? Are you willing to read and study your bible more? Are you willing to bless orphans and widows more? How far are you willing to go with Jesus? On July 12, 1982 Brother Bob decided to go a little farther with Jesus. Brother Bob left his entire orthodox Jewish family and millions of dollars to witness Jesus everywhere. Brother Bob started writing preachbrotherbob on July 24, 2011 and around 500 bible studies have blessed half a million people everywhere with untold numbers of souls getting saved for our Lord Jesus in Africa, Asia, Europe, and everywhere.

Decide to go a little farther today with Jesus
Study your bible more. Ransack the KJV bible
BIBLE-Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth

To be an effective witness for Jesus you'll have to go a little farther than most church members. Do more than just be born, eat, sleep, work, reproduce, attend church, and die. Don't be like Solomon Grundy. Born on Monday, christened on Tuesday, married on Wednesday, feeble on Thursday, worse on Friday, died on Saturday, buried on Sunday. Thus ends the life of Solomon Grundy.

Most people who attend church are not saved and just work and take care of their families. Just because a person walks down an aisle, shakes a six foot spiritual icicle's hand, does some good works, answers some questions, gets dunked in the pool, and blends in with the crowd will not save him. If I walk into a garage, that doesn't make me a car. If I walk into a barn, that doesn't make me a mule. If  I walk into a bakery, that doesn't make me a donut. I might look like one, but that doesn't make me a donut. And if I walk into a church, that doesn't make me a christian.

Salvation is not in a plan. Salvation is in a person named Jesus. Instead of religion, get a relationship with a Saviour named Jesus to get saved. Not the blood of Jesus plus works. Not the blood of Jesus plus wafers. Not the blood of Jesus plus water. But it's the blood of Jesus plus nothing that saves. Jesus said at John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Acts 4:12 says Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name (Jesus) under heaven given among men, where by we must be saved.

Get saved, repent, decide to stop sinning,
Confess that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel
That Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again

Are You Going A Little Farther With Jesus?
How Far Are You Willing To Go With Jesus?
1) Be like Paul and Silas Who Went A Little Farther With Jesus

Be like Paul and Silas who went a little farther with Jesus. Keep singing and praising Jesus through persecutions and sufferings. Paul and Silas kept singing and praising Jesus during the midnight hour in a Philippian jail cell. Because Paul and Silas went a little farther for Jesus, the prisoners were set free by an earthquake. Then Paul blessed his enemy and saved the jailor. The jailor then washed the stripes that he had placed earlier on Paul and Silas. God had Paul's former enemy (the jailor) become a blessing to Paul and Silas. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. There was rejoicing, releasing, restraining, and regeneration. After Paul and Silas rejoiced in the midnight hour, an earthquake released the prisoners, the Holy Ghost restrained the prisoners, and the jailor got regenerated and saved.

Be like Paul and Silas and keep praising Jesus through any persecution or trouble on this earth. Most people in church won't even lift up their hands to praise Jesus or say a faint Amen. Go a little farther with Jesus and don't worry about what people say when you praise Jesus. Keep your eyes on Jesus and off the people. They're going to talk about you anyway. Give them something good to talk about and leap for joy while you give them a Forrest Gump and run the aisles in every church for our Lord Jesus. If anyone says you talk too much about Jesus, respond Correction, I need to talk more about Jesus and thanks for the compliment. Get in the glory at least one time in your life and get the I can't help its. Tell everyone I can't help it, I got to shout and praise Jesus while I leap for joy.

Acts 16:23 says And when they had laid many stripes upon them (Paul and Silas), they cast them into the prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every ones' bands were loosed.

Pictured above, preacher John Jasper of Richmond, Virginia in the 1800s preached the following message about Paul and Silas praising Jesus during the midnight hour in a Phillipian jail cell. When Jesus heard the blessed singing and praise from Paul and Silas from the jail cell during the midnight hour, Jesus told innumerable angels to start singing soprano and alto along with Paul and Silas. And when the singing got so glorious in heaven, the Lord Jesus hit that bass note. And when Jesus hit that bass note, the world thought that it was an earthquake. And the jailhouse fell all to pieces and set the captive free.

Be like Paul and Silas and go a little farther for Jesus, singing and praising Jesus to overcome the troubles of this life. Listen to praise and worship music exalting Jesus to heal, bless, and give you strength to overcome the troubles of this world. Ephesians 5:19 says Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.

Psalm 22:3 says But thou art holy, O thou (Lord Jesus) that inhabitest the praises of Israel. In other words when you just listen to praise and worship music while you glorify Jesus, God will dwell with you and strengthen you. Saul just listened to David playing a harp and was refreshed and healed while evil spirits had to flee. 1 Samuel 16:23 says And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

Be Like Paul And Silas And Worship Jesus
And Sing The Words Below For I Want Us To Be Together In Heaven

You may have a fancy car; A brand new house that shines by far
You may live to be 100 years old;
But if you have not been saved; It all ends with the grave
But I want us to be together in heaven

I want us to be together in heaven
I want to walk down the streets of pure gold
I want to run through the fields of green clover
See the mansions, Smell the flowers, Hear the singing, It's all ours
See the river gently flowing, Feel the gentle breezes blowing
I want us to be together in heaven

You may be a millionaire; Wearing clothes beyond compare
You may have the best that money can buy
But if the blood was not applied; Then in hell you'll lift your eyes
But I want us to be together in heaven

Oh my friends from near and far; It don't matter who you are
As you sorrow from my passing from here
There's a work for all to do; Labor on till life is through
Cause I want us to be together in heaven

Are You Going A Little Farther With Jesus?

2) Be like Daniel Who Went A Little Farther With Jesus

Be like Daniel who went a little farther with Jesus. The king of Persia made a decree that if any man prayed to the God of Israel, that man would be cast into a den of lions. Instead of praying in secret in a closet, Daniel decided to go a little farther with Jesus and opened his windows toward Jerusalem. Daniel let everyone see him praying with supplication three times every day begging God for mercy. God blessed Daniel and delivered him from the den of lions. Like Daniel, obey God's Word instead of any law that disobeys God's Word. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says Pray without ceasing. Keep praying at all times and like Daniel disobey any law that tells you to stop praying.

Like Daniel, Brother Bob used to always pray on my government job and place the name Jesus in my office area. One supervisor told me that because of separation of church and state I need to take down the name Jesus in my office. I disobeyed this supervisor and kept the name Jesus posted in my office for 34 years. One time a coworker told Brother Bob "You need to take the name Jesus down because it might offend someone." I told that coworker "Does it offend you?" When she said No, Brother Bob told that coworker "Have a blessed day in the name of Jesus." And when that coworker retired, she got saved and gave me books and magazines about Jesus.

The story about how Daniel went a little farther with Jesus and kept praying is at Daniel 6:7: All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. Wherefore King Darius signed the writing and the decree.

Daniel 6:10 goes on to say Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house, and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

Like Daniel, go a little farther with Jesus and don't be ashamed to testify about Jesus on the street, in the prisons, and in the nursing homes, praying everywhere to save lost sinners while you lift up the name of Jesus. Jesus said at Luke 9:26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when He shall come in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels. Jesus said at Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Daniel was willing to die for the Lord Jesus and said I'm going to keep praying three times daily with my windows open toward Jerusalem and disobey the king's ungodly decree even if they throw me into the den of lions. Jesus said at Mark 8:35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

Like Daniel, Brother Bob is willing to lose his life for Jesus. Brother Bob has had death threats from Muslims saying if I keep writing that Jesus is God, they will kill Brother Bob. Brother Bob fears the Lord Jesus more than any Muslim death threat and will continue to tell everyone on preachbrotherbob that Jesus is God.  Jesus told us at Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him (Jesus) which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Several times people have tried to take down preachbrotherbob and remove videos from preachbrotherbob. But Jesus has allowed preachbrotherbob to remain on the internet and thousands of people everywhere are getting saved.

Like Daniel, keep praying and asking for anything you need in the name of Jesus. Jesus said at John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name (Jesus), that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. James 4:2 says Ye have not, because ye ask not. The people that ask the most for blessings and needs from Jesus, get the most blessings from Jesus. Instead of seeking help from people, seek help from Jesus through prayer. Philippians 4:6 says Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Now some people say if you pray something more than once you have no faith. This is wrong and does not agree with the bible because Jesus Himself prayed the same words of a prayer three times over and over again in the garden of Gethsemane. Matthew 26:44 says And He (Jesus) left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Now if the Lord Jesus prayed the same words of a prayer three times, don't stop praying for your blessings, and Jesus will bless your faith and grant your requests.

We all need to go a little farther with Jesus and pray in groups of people. The prayer of two people praying together in agreement is ten times more powerful than the prayer of just one person. Deuteronomy 32:30 says How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their rock had sold them, and the Lord had shut them up? For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

Don't be isolated but instead attend a local church and pray in groups of people to have more power to resist the devil and get blessed. One ant can push a crumb but ten ants can push the crumb better. I'd rather teach ten people how to pray instead of teaching one man how to preach.

Ecclesiastes 4:9 says Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Are You Going A Little Farther With Jesus?
How Far Are You Willing To Go With Jesus?
3) Be like David Who Went A Little Farther With Jesus

Be like David who went a little farther with Jesus. Jesse sent his son David to bless his brothers with some cheese and food on the battlefield. When David met his brothers, he heard a ten foot tall giant in the valley of Elah named Goliath hollering "Give me a man to fight with me." David said "Why doesn't Saul get someone to kill that bully?" Then Saul told David "If you feel so confident, Why don't you fight Goliath?" David agreed to fight Goliath. David told Saul "I don't need your armour to fight Goliath. I'll fight Goliath in the name of the Lord who is Jesus."

David took a staff and a sling in his hand and went to the brook to pick up 5 smooth stones to kill Goliath. Now why did David get 5 smooth stones instead of 1 smooth stone to kill Goliath? Did David lack faith? No. David had great faith and got 5 smooth stones to kill Goliath and his 4 brothers. David wanted to kill Goliath's entire family. David trusted in a powerful God named Jesus to kill Goliath and his 4 brothers. David got the victory because he went a little farther with Jesus. David killed Goliath with a sling and a stone and walked off the battlefield with Goliath's head in one hand and Goliath's sword in his other hand.

1 Samuel 17:45 tells how David defeated Goliath. Then said David to the Philistine (Goliath), Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. 1 Samuel 17:49 says And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into this forehead, and he fell upon his face to the earth. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

Like David, go a little farther with Jesus on the battlefield against any enemy, and the Lord Jesus will fight your battle and give you the victory. 2 Chronicles 20:17 says Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you. 1 Corinthians 15:57 says But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Goliath's four other brothers were also killed later by David's servants where God honored David's faith of gathering 5 smooth stones to kill Goliath's entire family. David knew that Goliath had four giant brothers named Ishbibenob (his dwelling is in Nob or a high place), Saph (tall), Lahmi (my bread), and a giant who had a total of 24 fingers and toes, believing that each of the five smooth stones would slay Goliath and his four giant brothers. Also note that David told Goliath that he fought against him in the name of the Lord believing that the name of his five smooth stones was JESUS, a letter for each smooth stone.

The bible records that Goliath and his four giant brothers were all sons of the same giant from Gath. The bible tells us that all four of Goliath's giant brothers were slain. Ishbibenob was slain by Abishai and 2 Samuel 21:16 says And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed 300 shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David (beloved). But Abishai (My father is a gift) the son of Zeruiah (balsam) succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him.

Next Saph was slain by Sibbechai and 2 Samuel 21:18 goes on to say And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob (cistern): then Sibbechai (weaver) the Hushathite (inhabitant of Hush or haste) slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant. Next Lahmi was slain by Elhanan discussed below in two places of the bible at 2 Samuel 21:19 and 1 Chronicles 20:5 which states that Lahmi was Goliath's giant brother.

2 Samuel 21:19 says And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan (God has been gracious) the son of Jaareoregim (forests of the weaver), a Bethlehemite (house of bread), slew the brother of Goliath (splendour), the Gittite (belonging to Gath or a winepress), the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam (in other words his spear was huge and the size of the large wooden beam of a loom). 1 Chronicles 20:5 tells us that the giant killed by Elhanan was the brother of Goliath named Lahmi and says And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver's beam.

Finally Goliath's fourth giant brother who had a total of 24 fingers and toes, six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot was slain by Jonathan and 2 Samuel 21:20 says And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant. And when he defied Israel, Jonathan (Jehovah has given) the son of Shimeah (fame) the brother of David slew him

Now take time to compare 1 Chronicles 20:5 with 2 Samuel 21:22 and you will find that since Lahmi was Goliath's brother, all four giants and Goliath were all the sons of one giant in Gath. 2 Samuel 21:22 says These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

After David killed Goliath, the bible says that David drug Goliath's head to Jerusalem. 1 Samuel 17:54 that says And David took the head of the Philistine, and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armour in his tent. You might say Why is it so important to remember that David took Goliath's head to Jerusalem? Read the discussion below about the above picture of Golgatha and you'll learn why David took Goliath's head to Jerusalem.

Golgatha is the place where Jesus was crucified. Golgatha exists today in Israel and is called the place of a skull. John 19:17 says And He (Jesus) bearing His cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha (also called Golgatha): Where they crucified Him, and two other with Him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

David took Goliath's head to Jerusalem and left Goliath's head at a place called Golgatha. Golgatha really means Gol-Goliath Gath of Gath a. If you look closely at the above picture of what Golgatha looks like today, notice the big giant skull of Goliath in the middle of the rocks. Look closely at the above picture to see Goliath's forehead, two eyes, nose, mustache, teeth that are laughing, and a chin. Wow, Goliath was a large giant with a big head. Just think how big Goliath's body was when you look above at how big Goliath's head was.

Why is it so blessed to remember that Jesus was crucified over the skull of the giant Goliath? The answer is that when Jesus died for his saved saints on the cross at Golgatha, Jesus destroyed any giant problems for all saved saints. Jesus wants us to remember that Goliath's head now is just a skull and the giant Goliath no longer exists. Golgatha is just Goliath's skull with no Goliath. In the picture above, Jesus was crucified over the skull of Goliath and truly destroyed and bruised satan under His feet. Romans 16:20 says And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

4) Be like The Four Men That Lowered Their Friend Through A Roof To Jesus
Who Went A Little Farther With Jesus

Be like the four men that lowered their friend through a roof to Jesus who went a little farther with Jesus. When four men could not get their friend to Jesus in a crowded full house, the four men broke up a roof and lowered their friend down to Jesus by faith. When Jesus saw the faith of the four men, Jesus healed their friend.

Four Of A Kind Beats A Full House Every Time

Four of a kind beats a full house every time. Four men's faith to heal their friend beat a full crowded house and Jesus healed a man sick of the palsy because of the prayers from four saved saints. It's wrong to say that a person can not be healed if he does not have faith and can not pray for himself. The faithful prayers of other people can heal a person that can't pray.

When Jesus saw their faith (the four men's faith to heal their friend and not the sick man's faith), the sick man with the palsy got healed. Keep praying for people that are helpless and can't pray. Your prayers can keep someone alive. James 5:16 says Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

The story where four men's faith healed their friend is at Mark 2:1: And again He (Jesus) entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that He was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and He preached the word unto them. And they come unto Him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto Him for the press, they uncovered the roof where He was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

Mark 2:5 says When Jesus saw their faith (the four men's faith and not his "the sick man's" faith), He said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. Then Jesus healed the man sick of the palsy because of the four men's faith. Jesus said at Mark 2:10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, He saith to the sick of palsy, I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

How many people did it take to patch the roof
after the man sick of the palsy got healed?
No less than five because the healed man and his four friends
rejoiced and were glad to patch the roof

Like The Four Men Who Got Their Friend Healed
By Lowering Him To Jesus Through A Roof
Don't Let Any Mountain In Your Way
Stop You From Receiving A Blessing

Like the four men who got their friend healed by lowering him to Jesus through a roof, don't let any mountain in your way stop you from receiving a blessing. If a mountain is blocking your blessing, here's how to remove the mountain and receive your blessing. First climb over the mountain. If you can't climb over the mountain, go around the mountain. If you can't go around the mountain, tunnel through the mountain. And if you can't tunnel through the mountain, ask the Lord Jesus to remove the mountain and Jesus will remove the mountain and give you your blessing.

Never quit and always keep asking Jesus to remove any mountain or trouble blocking a blessing. Quitters never win and winners never quit. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they quit. Jesus told us at Mark 11:23 how to remove any mountain blocking a blessing: For verily I say unto you, That whosever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. I pray in Jesus name that anyone reading this will receive victory and that Jesus will remove every trouble from their life.

When you pray, pray with just a tiny mustard seed of faith and any mountain blocking a blessing will be removed. You don't need a lot of faith to remove a mountain. Just a tiny mustard seed of faith will remove any mountain or trouble out of your way. Jesus said at Matthew 17:20 If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Are You Going A Little Farther With Jesus?
How Far Are You Willing To Go With Jesus?
5) Be like Mary Magdalene Who Went A Little Farther With Jesus

Be like Mary Magdalene who went a little farther with Jesus by offering Jesus her best worship, love, and praise. When Mary Magdalene met Jesus at Simon the Pharisee's house, she gave Jesus the most precious thing that she owned (a very expensive alabaster box of ointment containing precious spikenard). Mary poured the precious ointment of spikenard on Jesus' head and feet, washed Jesus' feet with her tears, and then wiped Jesus' feet with the hairs of her head.

The bible says that a woman's hair is her glory. Mary Magdalene told Jesus Here's what I think of my glory and used her hair to wipe her tears of praise from Jesus' feet. She wiped Jesus' feet with her glory. 1 Corinthians 11:15 says But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

Mary Magdalene went a little farther with her worship, praise, and love for our Saviour Jesus Christ. Mary Magdalene could have very easily just stood in front of Jesus and said Lord I love you. But she went a little farther and poured the best thing that she owned in praise on Jesus. Then she washed Jesus' feet with her tears and wiped Jesus' feet with her glory (her hair). Mary displayed a greater love for Jesus than Simon the Pharisee because Mary had been forgiven of many sins.

Jesus told Simon at Luke 7:44 Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And He saith unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

Let's all be like Mary Magdalene and offer our best praise to Jesus daily? Let's all go a little farther with Jesus and give Jesus a sacrifice of praise showing Jesus how much we love Him for dying on the cross of Calvary to remove our sins? Even when you don't feel like praising Jesus, praise Jesus anyway.

Go a little farther with Jesus by offering a sacrifice of praise to Jesus. Sing hymns of praise to Jesus daily. Give Jesus a sacrifice of praise daily. Let's all obey Hebrews 13:15: By Him (Jesus) therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.

The story about Mary Magdalene's sacrifice of praise to our Lord Jesus is at Luke 7:36 that says And one of the Pharisees (Simon) desired Him (Jesus) that He would eat with him. Simon wanted to bless Jesus with a meal at his home because Jesus cleansed and healed Simon from leprosy. Mark 14:3 tells us that Simon was a leper saying And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as He (Jesus) sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious, and she brake the box, and poured it on His head.

No one ever remained sick when they met Jesus. Even Simon, a wicked Pharisee, was healed of leprosy when he met Jesus. Matthew 9:35 says And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. Jesus lives in you friend reading this and like Simon will heal you of any sickness or disease.

Let's continue with the story about Mary Magdalene's sacrifice of praise to our Lord Jesus at Luke 7:36: And He (Jesus) went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. And, behold, a woman (Mary Magdalene) in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment. And stood at His feet behind Him weeping, and began to wash His feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed His feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

Jesus honored Mary Magdalene's sacrifice of praise by saying at Matthew 26:12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

Mary Magdalene's sweet smelling spikenard that she poured on Jesus became a memorial that comforted Jesus and the women who smelled the sweet precious spikenard while Jesus was carrying His cross on the Via Dolorosa path to Golgotha Calvary. The Via Dolorosa (called the Sorrowful Way or Way of Sorrows) was the traditional route in the old city of Jerusalem believed to be the path that our Lord Jesus walked on His way to His crucifixion.

At the cross of Calvary, the sweet smelling spikenard's odour remained and was greater than the foul odour of vinegar mingled with the poisonous gall (hemlock plant) drink that Jesus tasted but did not drink, preserving Jesus' body from decay for burial and is a witness about Jesus' resurrection from the dead with eternal life.

Spikenard was used to anoint the body of the deceased to delay decomposition and mask the odour of decay during the period between death and burial. The spikenard was a witness that Jesus' body would not decay. Instead Jesus' body would become glorified, resurrected, and be preserved forever with eternal life. Like Jesus, saved saints bodies won't ever decay, will become glorified, and will be preserved with eternal life. Romans 8:11 says But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you. 2 Corinthians 4:14 says Knowing that He which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. Jesus said at John 6:40 And this is the will of Him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

As a side note, it's remarkable that Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of Psalm 69:21 that says They gave me also gall (a poisonous hemlock plant) for my meat; and in my thirst they gave vinegar to drink. Matthew 27:34 says They gave Him (Jesus) vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, He would not drink. In other words no man could kill Jesus. Jesus said at John 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

People have said Brother Bob how do you know that the unnamed woman at Simon's house that anointed Jesus with spikenard was Mary Magdalene? In response I tell people to read Luke's account of this story at Luke 7:36 to the end of the chapter. Then notice at Luke 8:2 we see that after Mary Magdalene anointed Jesus with spikenard at Simon's house, Mary Magdalene was healed of evil spirits and infirmities and followed Jesus. Luke 8:1 says And it came to pass afterward, that He (Jesus) went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him. And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils (the bible tells us that Mary Magdalene was the woman healed at Simon's house that followed Jesus). And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto Him of their substance.

Are You Going A Little Farther With Jesus?
How Far Are You Willing To Go With Jesus?
6) Be like Caleb Who Went A Little Farther With Jesus

Be like Caleb who went a little farther with Jesus. When Caleb was 40 years old, he spied out the land of Canaan and along with Joshua believed they could conquer the giant Anakims at Hebron. Caleb had a good report and said at Numbers 13:30 Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. Caleb believed he could conquer and possess Hebron and defeat the giant Anakims.

Forty five years later when Caleb was 85, Joshua told Caleb "I think it's time for you to retire and live in the peaceful valley with its beautiful streams. You don't need to live in the mountain of Hebron and be worried about giants." Pictured above Caleb told Joshua "Forget the valley, Give me this mountain called Hebron. Moses promised Hebron to me and at 85 I'm strong enough to conquer Hebron and defeat the giant Anakims." Caleb decided to go a little farther with Jesus. God renewed Caleb's youth and allowed him to conquer Hebron and defeat the giant Anakims at the age of 85.

Like Caleb, decide to go a little farther with Jesus and defeat the giants in your life while you overcome any mountain, obstacle, or trouble in this world. Like Caleb, be a good soldier for Jesus going a little farther with Jesus, believing that God will give you victory over any trouble. 2 Timothy 2:3 says Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please Him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. Jesus promised that he would renew our youth like the eagle and strengthen us in old age like Caleb to be able to overcome and defeat any trouble in this world. Jesus said at Isaiah 46:4  And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs (gray hairs) will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

The story about Caleb conquering Hebron at 85 is at Joshua 14:6 that says Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the Lord said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadesh barnea. Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh barnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart. Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the Lord my God.

Joshua 14:9 goes on to say And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God. And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the Lord spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

Joshua 14:11 goes on to say As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said. And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.
