How Clyde Thompson The Meanest Man In Texas Got Saved For Jesus

A Blessed Testimony About How The Meanest Man In Texas
Clyde Thompson Got Saved For Jesus

Clyde Thompson pictured above was the worst criminal ever in Texas. But Clyde found forgiveness with Jesus even though he murdered eight innocent men. When Clyde was only 17, he was sentenced to death after he murdered two innocent men. But for some reason, Clyde was allowed to live and instead was sentenced to life in prison. Then Clyde became a savage animal and would kill anyone that got near him. Clyde Thompson became the meanest man in Texas. This is Clyde Thompson's blessed story of how the meanest man in Texas got saved for Jesus.

After Clyde Thompson tried several times to escape from prison, Clyde's prison warden locked Clyde up in a morgue for 5 years in solitary confinement. Clyde had become a wild man that would kill anything moving near him. The guards had to throw food to Clyde every day because Clyde was a raging maniac out of control. The morgue Clyde lived in for 5 years was an old concrete building with six slabs, a steel door, and a couple of bar openings for light. Clyde was like the maniac from Gadarenes who cried day and night going crazy in a morgue. The warden only let Clyde have a pair of shorts so Clyde wouldn't hang himself.

From The Meanest Man In Texas To
The Kindest Man In Texas

One day a miracle occurred while Clyde Thompson was living in solitary confinement in a morgue. Clyde asked his warden for a bible to read to try to prove that Jesus is a myth. Brother Bob says when anyone says Jesus is a myth, tell them they're mythstaken, mythstified, mythinformed, and mytherable. Anyway the next day the warden threw a bible into Clyde's morgue, and Clyde started reading that bible every day.

The more Clyde Thompson studied the bible, the more he realized that Jesus is God and that the bible is the truth. Clyde asked Jesus to forgive him for all his sins and got gloriously saved in that morgue. Clyde Thompson was a changed man. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. Clyde's warden and all the prison guards became friends with Clyde and eventually released him from the morgue to a jail cell.

Then Clyde Thompson began to write articles for christian newspapers. And Clyde wrote letters about Jesus to thousands of people from jail trying to win souls for Jesus. Clyde also completed a two year bible course and starting preaching Jesus to all the prisoners. Many prisoners got saved for Jesus because of Clyde's blessed preaching.

Clyde Thompson would tell all the prisoners that he wished he could give life back to the eight men he murdered. But Clyde told everyone that he had peace with Jesus because one man named Jesus died for all sinners everywhere and the blood of Jesus washed away all his sins. Like Clyde Thompson, Brother Bob tells everyone that Jesus can forgive the worst sinner and won't reject anyone during this church age of grace. Revelation 22:17 tells us And the Spirit and the bride say Come. And let him that heareth say Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will let him take the water of life freely. Get saved right now and repent, decide to stop sinning, confess Jesus to be God, and believe that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

One day after Clyde Thompson got saved in prison, Clyde received a letter from a christian lady named Julia Perryman. Julia and Clyde became good friends and wrote each other for years. When Clyde and Julia first met at the prison, Clyde proposed marriage and Julia accepted. Julia campaigned for years for prison wardens to release Clyde Thompson because of Clyde's good behavior. After many prayers and Julia's persistence, Clyde was awarded parole and released from prison.

The warden who had placed Clyde into the morgue became one of Clyde's best friends. The day Clyde Thompson was released from prison, this warden dressed Clyde in a brand new suit of clothes, rejoicing that Clyde could marry Julia Perryman. Five days after Clyde was released from prison, Clyde and Julia were married.

Next, Clyde Thompson became a pastor of a church from 1957-1970. Whenever any prisoner got out of jail, Clyde would invite them to his house, dress them in a suit of clothes, and teach them how to live for Jesus Christ. Clyde and Julia then adopted a little Navajo girl named Shirley Anne. And in 1977 Clyde became the chaplain of the Lubbock County jail and preached Jesus to many prisoners. Clyde Thompson died on July 1, 1979 and Julia Perryman died ten years later.

Like Clyde Thompson
Onesimus And The Thief By Jesus' Cross
Found Forgiveness And Salvation With Jesus

After reading about Clyde Thompson's testimony, we learn that the bible gives many examples of criminals and cruel people that were forgiven and received salvation from Jesus. Jesus said at Luke 5:32 I came not to call the righteous; but sinners to repentance. And Luke 19:10 tells us For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Onesimus was a criminal that got gloriously saved after hearing about Jesus from Paul. Paul told Philemon to forgive Onesimus and receive him as a fellow brother in Jesus Christ.

Paul told Philemon at Philemon 10 I beseech thee for my son Onesimus whom I have begotten in my bonds. Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me. Paul told Philemon If he (Onesimus) hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account. Paul was merciful to Onesimus and remembered how Jesus had forgiven him. Paul wrote at 1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Here's some other examples of sinners like Clyde Thompson who received forgiveness and salvation from Jesus. The thief on the cross by Jesus at Calvary who killed, raped, and murdered all his life got saved by asking Jesus Lord remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. Jesus responded saying at Luke 23:43  Verily I say unto thee; To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. The woman caught in the act of adultery was forgiven and saved by Jesus. Jesus told her at John 8:11 Neither do I condemn thee; go, and sin no more.

The man in the tombs of Gadarenes was forgiven and saved by Jesus. After this man wanted to follow Jesus, Jesus had him write books for Jesus in Decapolis and many people got saved. Finally Jesus forgave and saved the chief tax collector named Zacchaeus. After Jesus visited Zacchaeus' house, Zacchaeus was a changed man with kindness. Zacchaeus said at Luke 19:8 Behold Lord the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. Jesus replied This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son fo Abraham.

Remember friends everywhere, there is room at the cross for you. Like Clyde Thompson, Jesus can forgive the most wicked sinner on this earth. The blood of Jesus is able to wash away the worst sins of anyone. 1 John 1:7 promises But if we walk in the light, as He (Jesus) is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin. And Revelation 1:5 promises And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto Him (Jesus) that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood. Right now praise Jesus for His precious blood that removes guilt and all our sins forevermore. With Jesus we are white as pure snow and have the privilege to enter heaven in peace forevermore.

A Blessed Poem About Forgiveness With Jesus

If our greatest need had been knowledge
God would have sent us a teacher
If our greatest need had been money
God would sent us an economist

If our greatest need had been technology
God would have sent us a scientist
If our greatest need had been health
God would have sent us a doctor
If our greatest need had been pleasure
God would have sent us an entertainer

But our greatest need was forgiveness
So God sent us the Saviour Jesus Christ
