Answers To Questions About The Great White Throne Judgment

Where Does The Bible Mention The Great White Throne Judgment?

The bible speaks about the great white throne judgment at Revelation 20:11 saying And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it (Jesus), from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Revelation 20:13 goes on to say And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

At the Great White Throne judgment the Lord Jesus will judge and condemn billions of lost unbelieving sinners (Muslims, Buddhists, Jehovah Witnesses and everyone that rejected Him and denied that Jesus is God) and cast them into the lake of fire to be tormented forever. This is why we need to witness and tell people all over this earth to avoid the lake of fire and get saved, repent, decide to stop sinning, confess that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again. Only saved saints will be delivered from the lake of fire and be blessed with everlasting peace in the kingdom of God forevermore.

You see Romans 6:23 tells us For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. In other words, sinners that reject the Lord Jesus and fail to repent and believe that Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again will be paid wages at the Great White Throne judgment by suffering two deaths (the wages of sin is death). First they will die and go to hell and next they will suffer the second death and be cast into the lake of fire. Payday is coming for lost unbelieving sinners that reject the Lord Jesus.

But friend anywhere if you get saved, you receive the gift of eternal life instead of the wages of death (escaping the second death and the lake of fire). You don't have to work and receive wages to get saved. Just believe by faith in the Lord Jesus and get saved. Ephesians 2:8 tells us For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Who Will Be The Judge At The Great White Throne Judgment?

The bible declares that God appointed Jesus to be the judge at the Great White Throne judgment. Acts 17:31 says Because He (God) hath appointed a day, in the which He (The Lord Jesus) will judge the world in righteousness by that man (Jesus) whom He hath ordained; whereof He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised Him (The Lord Jesus) from the dead.

When anyone reads the above scripture they should realize that God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one in three different manifestations. Jesus is God come in the flesh. In other words if I pour water into three glasses; there are three glasses but the same water. Jesus is God and one with God proven by Hebrews 1:8 that says But unto the Son (Jesus) He (The Father) saith, Thy throne, O God (The Father called Jesus God) is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre (rod of iron) of thy kingdom.

Where and When Will The Great White Throne Judgment Happen?

The bible declares that the Great White Throne judgment will happen somewhere in eternity where the Lord Jesus dwelleth forevermore in the paradise of the third heaven. Isaiah 57:15 pictured above says For thus saith the high and lofty One (Jesus) that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Note what will happen before the Great White Throne judgment according to the bible. First saved saints will be caught up to be with the Lord Jesus in the clouds at the rapture. Then there will be a seven year tribulation on this earth where the beast antichrist will be the ruler of earth. After the seven year tribulation, Jesus and the saved saints will return to earth on white horses to rule and reign with King Jesus over this earth for 1000 years.

Jesus will first cast the beast antichrist and the false prophet alive into the lake of fire. Then according to Revelation 20:1 an angel with a great chain and key will cast the devil into a sealed bottomless pit for 1000 years. The devil will be on the chain gang for 1000 years falling in a locked sealed over bottomless pit with no bottom restrained with a great chain. This will cause great peace on this earth with King Jesus for 1000 years with no devil around. After 1000 years, the devil will be released out of the bottomless pit to fight against Jesus and his saints. Then Jesus will cast the devil into the lake of fire with the beast and false prophet. In other words the beast and the false prophet will be alive in the lake of fire for 1000 years before the devil joins them. Then after all this happens, the Great White Throne judgment happens where billions of all unbelievers that ever lived will be on trial before the Lord Jesus.

Who Will Be On Trial At The Great White Throne Judgment?

The bible says that billions of unbelieving unsaved lost sinners will be on trial at the Great White Throne judgment because they rejected and did not believe that Jesus is God. According to the two scriptures pictured above, saved saints are not condemned (judged) at the Great White Throne judgment.

Rejoice and say John 3:18 He that believeth on Him (Jesus) is not condemned (judged at the Great White Throne judgment): but he that believeth not is condemned (judged) already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Also say Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation (judgment) to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

In other words, anyone who rejects the Lord Jesus will be condemned, judged, and cast into the lake of fire at the Great White Throne judgment. And anyone that believes Jesus is God, will escape the condemnation and judgment of the Great White Throne judgment and receive eternal life with the peace that passeth all understanding. John 3:36 states this truth by saying He that believeth on the Son (Jesus) hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Also, pictured above we see that the fallen bad angels that are 1/3 of all the angels that rejected the Lord Jesus will be on trial at the Great White Throne judgment. These fallen angels are already in everlasting chains in hell and will be on trial at the Great White Throne judgment to be cast into the lake of fire. Jude 6 says And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, He (Jesus) hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Also, 2 Peter 2:4 and 2 Peter 2:9 say For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness to be reserved unto judgment. The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust until the day of judgment to be punished.

Who Will Be At The Great White Throne Judgment?

Friends, not only unbelievers and fallen bad angels on trial will be at the Great White Throne judgment. Also all the saved saints will be at the Great White Throne judgment to be witnesses and not be judged on trial. The Lord Jesus and christians will be judges at the Great White Throne judgment.

The scripture that proves that saved saints will be judges and witnesses present at the Great White Throne judgment is 1 Thessalonians 4:16 that says For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Note that if saved saints are ever with the Lord Jesus, wherever Jesus goes, the saved saints also go with Jesus. Jesus will be the Judge at the great white throne judgment and the saved saints are ever with the Lord Jesus to be judges and witnesses at the Great White Throne judgment. 1 Corinthians 6:2 says Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

Pictured above Jude 14 also says that saved saints will be judges and witnesses with Jesus at the great white throne judgment. Jude 14 says And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.

Note also that rewards will be given to old testament saints, tribulation saints, and millennial saints at the Great White Throne judgment. These saints are separate (friends of the bridegroom Jesus) and not part of the bride church that was rewarded earlier at the Bema judgment seat of Christ before their marriage to the bridegroom Jesus in heaven. Revelation 11:17-18 describes the rewards given at the Great White Throne judgment. Like the bride church, all saints eventually get rewards.

Now read what happens after the 7th trumpet at Revelation 11:17-18: (Four and Twenty Elders) Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee great power, and hast reigned (notice that Jesus hast reigned and completed the millennium where next we see the Great White Throne judgment). And the nations were angry, and thy wrath (at Armaggedon) is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged (Great White Throne judgment where the unbelievers are cast into the lake of fire), and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets (old testament saints), and to the saints (tribulation saints), and them that fear thy name, small and great (millennial saints); and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Take time to read a blessed commentary from Peter Ruckman about Revelation 11:17-18. The reign of Jesus is spoken of in past tense at Revelation 11:17, which means that the 24 elders are speaking at the end of the millennium. The nations were angry is a reference to the battle of Armageddon. And the time of the dead that they should be judged is a reference to the Great White Throne judgment where unbelievers are cast into the lake of fire. But, there are also saved people from the old testament, tribulation, and millennium (prophets, saints, and those that fear Jesus' name) at the Great White Throne judgment receiving rewards.

The tribulation saints receiving rewards at the Great White Throne judgment who endured to the end to overcome the beast antichrist are described at Daniel 7:21-22: I beheld, and the same horn (beast antichrist) made war with the (tribulation) saints, and prevailed against them; Until the Ancient of days (Jesus) came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom (with rewards from the Great White Throne judgment).

What Will Saved Saints Witness At The Great White Throne Judgment?

Saved saints will see all the people they failed to tell about the Lord Jesus cast into the lake of fire at the Great White Throne judgment. This is why we all need to witness and tell people now how to be saved and escape the judgment of God's wrath at the Great White Throne judgment. This is why 2 Corinthians 6:2 says I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Many saved saints will weep and be sad at the Great White Throne judgment when they see many friends and loved ones they failed to tell about the Lord Jesus cast into the lake of fire. Many saved wives will realize that they let their husbands go to hell because they didn't pay the price in prayer. Many children will realize that they let their parents go to hell for failing to tell them about Jesus. These lost unsaved sinners will point their fingers at the saved saints and say "Why didn't you show me how to be saved and believe the Lord Jesus?"

These saved saints will weep and cry about their unsaved loved ones that were cast into the lake of fire until their tears are wiped away with all their bad memories in the kingdom of God. Pictured above Revelation 21:4 says that God wipes away tears in the kingdom of God after the saved saints weep for lost loved ones cast into the lake of fire. The scripture says And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. If God didn't wipe away all the tears of saved saints in the kingdom of God, saved saints would cry forevermore about their lost loved ones that were cast into the lake of fire.

During the Great White Throne judgment, Jesus will burn up this earth and create new heavens, a new earth, and a new kingdom of God. Every bad memory from this earth will be forgotten in the kingdom of God stated at Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. Jesus said the saved saints will be like a woman that forgets her troubles after she gives birth to a child. Jesus said at John 16:21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. We all will be so happy to see Jesus in the kingdom of God that we will forget all our sorrows and troubles on this earth. And no bad thoughts or bad memories will come into our minds in the kingdom of God because there is no devil there.

The prophet Isaiah spoke about how the saved saints will see unsaved lost sinners cast into the lake of fire at the Great White Throne judgment. Isaiah 66:23 says And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord. And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

I've heard some lost sinners say I'll never bow down to the Lord Jesus. But according to the bible everyone will bow down to the Lord Jesus. Philippians 2:9 says Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him (Jesus), and given Him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Eventually, we all have to bow down to the Lord Jesus and confess that Jesus is God. If anyone bows down to the Lord Jesus now and believes Jesus is God, they will be saved and have eternal life. If anyone refuses to bow down now and give glory to the Lord Jesus, they soon will bow down and confess that Jesus is God when they are tried at the Great White Throne judgment and cast into the lake of fire. Bow down now and say Jesus is your God and get saved, escaping the wrath of the Great White Throne judgment.

What Is The Charge, Verdict, Evidence, and Sentence
Against Lost Unsaved Sinners
At The Great White Throne Judgment?

At the Great White Throne judgment, Jesus will tell lost sinners that rejected Him that the charge is that they are chronic criminals against God who are guilty under God's law. Jesus will say the verdict is guilty according to Romans 3:19 that says Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. The only way to escape a guilty verdict under the law is to be free from the law's wrath through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 10:4 declares For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Jesus will tell these lost sinners that rejected Him, the evidence against you is the wounds in my hands and feet that I suffered on the cross for your sins. Finally, Jesus will tell these lost sinners that rejected Him, the sentence against you is according to Matthew 25:41: Then shall He (Jesus) say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. And Matthew 25:46 says And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Friends everywhere, be free now today with no condemnation and judgment at the Great White Throne judgment. How comforting to know that Romans 8:1 says There is therefore now no condemnation (judgment at the Great White Throne judgment) to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. And how comforting are the words of Romans 8:33 that says Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

I conclude that saved saints will appear at another bema seat judgment right after they are caught up in the clouds to meet Jesus during the rapture. This is a judgment for service and not for sin. At the bema judgment seat, saved saints will receive rewards for all their good works that shined the Lord Jesus to lost sinners. The good works did not save these saints; the saints' faith in the Lord Jesus saved them; but they are rewarded for their good works. Jesus said at Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
