Today's bible study is about the Lord Jesus' majesty and power. Notice the picture above of Jesus walking on the wings of the wind while he rides on the clouds called His chariot. Psalm 104:1 says Bless the Lord, O my soul, O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: Who layeth the beams of His chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds His chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind. Proverbs 30:4 says Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is His name, and what is His son's name, if thou canst tell. Praise Jesus for His power and majesty while you meditate on the vision of our Lord Jesus walking on the wings of the wind while He gathers the wind in His fists and rides His chariot on the clouds of heaven.
A blessed commentary from Oliver Heywood from 1672 about Psalm 104:3 says If this vast globe of the earth be above 20000 miles in compass, then of what a vast extent are the heavens, which are stretched out as a curtain. How admirably hath God laid the beams of His chambers in the waters and suspended the earth upon nothing. How firmly hath He built His stories in the heavens and fixed the glorious constellations as fountains of light. Oh what beauty there must be in the Father of lights that hath set up the resplendent luminaries. These great bodies were created out of nothing by the Word of God's power. There are deep mysteries in the least and lowest creature and every herb, flower, plant, spire of grass, twig or leaf, worm or fly, scale or feather, billow or meteor, hath enough in it to puzzle the most profound philosopher and speaks the power and wisdom of our great Creator Jesus.
Isaiah 40:12 exemplifies the majesty of our Lord Jesus. Isaiah 40:12 says Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted (measured) out heaven with the span (from a persons pinky to his thumb) (Jesus measured the whole universe with just the size of his hand), and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance? Look at Isaiah 40:15 that says Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, He taketh up the isles as a very little thing. Isaiah 40:17 says All nations before Him are as nothing; and they are counted to Him less than nothing, and vanity. I once saw a writing that said I'd rather have the Lord Jesus protecting me than all the armies of every nation in the world.
Job 26:7 says He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. He bindeth up the waters in His thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them. It's amazing how clouds hold tons of water and don't flood the earth by releasing only drops of rain upon the earth. This is because the Lord Jesus promised by the rainbow to not flood this earth after Noah's flood. Genesis 9:14 says And It shall come to pass, when I (the Lord Jesus) bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
Get saved and receive Jesus' joy, peace, and strength forever
Get saved, repent, decide to stop sinning,
Confess that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel
That Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again
Praise the Lord Jesus for His majesty because He sits on the circle of the earth viewing the inhabitants thereof as grasshoppers. Isaiah 40:22 says It is He that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: That bringeth the princes to nothing; He maketh the judges of the earth as vanity. Isaiah 40:26 says Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: He calleth them all by names by the greatness of His might, for that He is strong in power; not one faileth.
Whenever you see the word host in the bible it means army of angels and Jesus is the commander general of this great army of angels. Jehovah Sabaoth means The Lord Of Hosts. Jesus is the Commander General of the Hosts or Army of Angels. Michael is the head warring archangel whose voice you will hear when the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout. The scripture reference for Jehovah Sabaoth is James 5:4 that says Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
Since Jesus is the Word, saved saints should remember that all the promises of the Word of God are theirs because Jesus is forever in their hearts by faith. Claim the seven blessings from the Lord Jesus for yourselves that are listed in Psalm 18:1: I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler (called a shield and defence), and horn of my salvation (called the strength of your salvation), and my high tower. Proverbs 18:10 says The name of the Lord (Jesus) is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
The prophet Amos also wrote about the spectacular glory of our Lord Jesus at Amos 9:5: And the Lord God of hosts is He that toucheth the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be drowned, as by the flood of Egypt. It is He that buildeth his stories (called the stairs of a ladderway) in the heaven, and hath founded His troop in the earth; He that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is His name. After reading this I need to write out Psalm 29:2 and tell you all to obey Psalm 29:2 that says Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
The reason for our praise is stated at Psalm 73:26 that says My flesh and my heart faileth; but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. Finally, Brother Bob wants to give all my friends a cure for depression. Whenever you feel depressed just memorize and say Psalm 42:5 that says Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance. Isaiah 40:29 says He (the Lord Jesus) giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Let's all be like King David and make the Lord Jesus and God's Word more important than anything in our lives. Take time to look how David placed the Lord Jesus first in his life above everything at Psalm 132:1 that says Lord, remember David, and all his afflictions: How he sware unto the Lord, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob; Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed; I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids, Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob. David placed the Lord Jesus above everything in his life, even above sleep. Brother Bob tells people to sleep for just about 7 hours daily and to wake up early and keep moving because Proverbs 20:13 says Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread. If you want to find Jesus you must wake up early so try to wake up maybe a half hour earlier than your normal schedule to find Jesus. This is proven at Proverbs 8:17 that says I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Birds wake up early at 4AM every morning and sing with joy because they find the Lord Jesus. Birds have bills but they keep on singing.
Next read about a mystery revealed to Brother Bob from Jesus about the picture above of Jacob bowing down before Esau to calm Esau's anger while Jacob offers gifts to Esau. Esau told Jacob to keep his blessing because he had enough. But it is interesting to note that in English Jacob also stated that he had enough and convinced Esau to take his blessing. When you study the Hebrew definitions of have enough, you will discover that when Esau said he had enough it meant much but when Jacob (who represents saved saints) said that he had enough it meant in Hebrew all, the whole, the totality, and everything. When you look around and it seems that the wicked are prospering like Esau with much around you, like Jacob, (the Lord Jesus in a true saint) is more than much and gives us totality and everything we need in glorious riches that never fade away now and in the everlasting kingdom of God. It's better to have the Lord Jesus than all the billions of dollars and fading wealth in this perishing world.
Take time to read Genesis 33:8 about the picture above of Jacob and Esau that says And he said, what meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord. And Esau said, I have enough (defined as much), my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself. And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me. Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough (defined as all, the whole, the totality, and everything). And he urged him, and he took it.
Godliness with contentment is great gain and not just much. Wicked men in this world might have much, but godly men have everything and all things with the Lord Jesus. 1 Timothy 6:6 says But godliness with contentment is great gain (the great gain with Jesus is exceeding abundantly more than the much of this world). Ephesians 3:20 says Now unto Him (the Lord Jesus) that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all the we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
Oliver Heywood in 1663 said that a saints modicum or little amounts to more than a wicked man's multum or large revenues. This is proven by Psalm 37:16 that says A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. Proverbs 15:16 says Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith. Proverbs 16:8 says Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. Proverbs 15:17 says Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. Proverbs 17:1 says Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.
Notice the blessed picture above of Nathanael under the fig tree saying Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth in response to Philip's invitation for him to come and see the Lord Jesus. Like Philip who witnessed Jesus to Nathanael, after a man or woman gets saved, they will want to win lost souls to Jesus and become fishers of men. I pray in Jesus name that we will be like Philip and have a desire to win souls to Jesus and witness Jesus everywhere on this earth. Proverbs 11:30 says The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. Jude 22 says And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
To prove that wanting to win souls to the Lord Jesus occurs in every believer after they get saved let's see how Andrew after he got saved led Peter to Jesus, and how Philip after he got saved led Nathanael to Jesus. First look at John 1:40 that shows how Andrew led Peter to Jesus. After Andrew got saved, Andrew witnessed Jesus to his brother Simon Peter and brought Peter to Jesus for salvation. John 1:40 says One of the two which heard John (the Baptist) speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, He said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
Note how humble and blessed Andrew was. We don't hear much about Andrew, but Andrew was responsible for blessing around 8000 people. After Andrew led Peter to Jesus, Peter saved 3000 people. And Andrew presented the little boy with two small fishes and five barley loaves to Jesus that were used to bless around 5000 people. Let's all be humble like Andrew, staying out of the limelight, where only Jesus gets the glory, while multitudes of lost sinners get saved and blessed.
Next look at John 1:43 that shows how Philip led Nathanael to Jesus. The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me. Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found Him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see. Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile.
Finally to prove that after any person gets saved that they will want to win souls to Jesus, look at how the saved prostitute at the well led the men in the city of Samaria to Jesus. John 4:28 says The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? Then they went out of the city, and came unto Him.
And even the nut who was delivered of the legion devils in the tombs, after he got saved had a desire to win the lost to Jesus and wrote and published books, witnessing to the city of Decapolis the wonderful things Jesus had done for him. This is proven at Luke 8:38 that says Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought Him that he might be with Him: but Jesus sent him away, saying, Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him. Mark 5:20 says And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. After Brother Bob wrote this I pray that sometime soon on this earth or in heaven Jesus will let me and all my friends see and read these wonderful writings from the man of the tombs who was delivered from the legion devils. Jesus has told me that these writings are special and are preserved somewhere because the Word of God and anointed writings for Jesus will last forever.
I pray in Jesus name that this bible study blesses multitudes everywhere with great joy, peace, and strength.
