Notice the pictures above of a woman's mink coat, a Gucci purse, and a hand mirror. In Isaiah's time, mink coats for women were called wimples, purses were called crisping pins, and hand mirrors for women were called glasses or tablets. Isaiah warned us that material objects of this world will be taken away and burn up. Only the Lord Jesus and the KJV Word of God lasts forever. Jesus said at Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. The Lord Jesus said at Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
Isaiah 3:18 lists the material objects that will be taken away and burn up. In that day the Lord will take away the bravery (beauty) of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls (a front headband for women), and their round tires (a necklace) like the moon, the chains (earrings of pearls), and the bracelets, and the mufflers (a woman's veil), the bonnets (a headdress turban or tiara), and the ornaments of the legs, (anklets), and the headbands, and the tablets (hand mirrors for women), and the earrings, the rings, and nose jewels, the changeable suits of apparel (stately robes), and the mantles (a man's coat called a tunic), and the wimples (a woman's coat like a mink coat), and the crisping pins (a woman's purse), the glasses (a woman's hand mirror), and the fine linen, and the hoods ( a turban or diadem), and the vails.
Get saved with the Lord Jesus because Jesus and the KJV Word of God is better than anything in this fading world. Get saved, repent, decide to stop sinning, confess that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again. Many people say I wonder how much of the world I can enjoy while I still serve Jesus. Brother Bob says correction to this saying. We should say How much Jesus can I enjoy while I deny the world. A praying man will quit sinning but a sinning man will quit praying. It's easy to float downstream with the world's current. But decide today to live for Jesus and go upstream against the world's current.
You know that you are growing with Jesus when you become less like the world. An old Japanese missionary used to say that the duty of every christian in any age is to discern the spirit of the age and then to go diametrically opposed to it. James 4:4 says Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. 1 John 2:15 says Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. Persecuted piety is better than prospering profaneness.
Romans 12:2 says And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. The Greek definition of this scripture tells us to not conform to the fashions of this world that will fade away and disappear. People change, fashions change, houses change, cars change, clothes change, leaders change, but the Lord Jesus never changes. Malachi 3:6 says For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Hebrews 13:6 says So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Joshua 7 speaks about Achan who loved worldly things more than the Lord Jesus. Achan got greedy and hid in his tent a goodly Babylonish garment, 200 shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold worth 50 shekels. When Joshua found out that because Achan trusted in worldly possessions instead of Jesus, Joshua had Achan killed because he had to get the sin out of the camp. Achan was the reason that Joshua lost the battle at Ai and once sin was out of the camp and Achan was gone, Joshua defeated Ai and experienced great victories.

Don't be like Achan and enjoy the pleasures of sin that last for only a season and disappear. Choose to get saved with the Lord Jesus where the pleasures are forevermore in the kingdom of God. Compare the following two scriptures and make a choice to get saved with Jesus today. Hebrews 11:25 says Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. Psalm 16:11 says Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence (Jesus) is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore. Choose pleasures forevermore with Jesus and get saved instead of sinful pleasures that only last for a season.
The Valley Of Achor
God Can Change Your Trouble Into Triumph
Note that Achan was killed in the valley of Achor or the valley of trouble and disturbance. The valley of Achor is a place in the Hebrew bible that served as a monument to the consequences of sin, and later as a symbol of hope and restoration. The valley of Achor first signified the trouble that Achan had brought upon Israel. But later biblical prophets transformed the meaning of the valley of Achor into a symbol of future blessing and renewal. God changed trouble into triumph.
Hosea said that the valley of Achor would become a door of hope for a restored Israel, where the nation would joyfully reconnect with God after a period of repentance. Hosea 2:15 says And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. And it shall be at that day, saith the Lord, that thou shalt call me Ishi (husband), and shalt call me no more Baali. Israel will repent and eventually become the bride of the Father.
Isaiah prophesied that the valley of Achor would become a peaceful resting place for herds for God's people, symbolizing a future of prosperity and security in the land of Israel. Isaiah 65:10 says And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought me. Thus, the valley of Achor embodies the biblical theme that a place of trouble and discipline can be transformed into a source of hope and new beginnings through repentance and divine grace. Israel will repent and eventually become the bride of the Father.
Today the Valley of Achor is located in the Wadi Qelt, a ravine that is a narrow gorge with steep sides in a desert oasis between the Judean hills and the Jordan valley near Jericho. It is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, rich biblical history, and ancient monasteries, particularly the cliff hanging Monastery of of St. George of Choziba. Note that a monastery is a home for unwed fathers.
The Land Of Israel and Jerusalem Is The Bride Of The Father
The Church Is The Bride Of The Son Jesus
The land of Israel and Jerusalem is the bride of the Father. The church is the bride of the Son Jesus. These two brides are different. Israel first denied the Father and sinned. But at the end of the tribulation, Israel and Jerusalem will be restored and become the bride of the Father. The church is a chaste virgin that is pure and married to the Son Jesus. Jerusalem is called the mother of the church. At the end of the tribulation, the church's mother in law will get restored and married to the Father.
Isaiah 62:4 speaks about the Jews and Israel and says Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land (Israel) any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah (a delight), and thy land Beulah (married to the Father): for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. Galatians 4:26 says But Jerusalem, which is above is free, which is the mother of us all (married to the Father). The church of saved christians is a chaste virgin that is married to the Son Jesus. 2 Corinthians 11:2 says For I (God) am jealous over you with a godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
Deny this world and don't be like this world. Instead choose the Lord Jesus. Zephaniah 1:8 tells us that the Lord Jesus will punish people who try to be like the fashions of this world. Zephaniah 1:8 says And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord's sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such are clothed with strange apparel (foreign worldly outlandish clothing).
Notice the picture above and please don't be lazy like the boy in the picture above and lay on your bed all day and do nothing for Jesus. Get up and do something for Jesus. Proverbs 23:21 says For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags. Proverbs 10:4 says He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack (slothful, lazy, and idle) hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. Proverbs 8:17 says I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Get out of bed and seek the Lord Jesus. Help poor widows and fatherless orphans while you witness Jesus everywhere.
Jesus had to correct Brother Bob for lying on his bed and lounging around till noon on my vacation days. Now I get up early every day, pray, and seek the Lord Jesus. I'll give you two examples of people in the bible who stayed in bed and sinned. David stayed in bed and sinned. 2 Samuel 11:2 says And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. David laid on his bed all day with an idle mind and when he saw Bathsheba, he committed the two sins of murder and adultery. David became a murderer of Bathsheba's husband Uriah after he got Bathsheba pregnant through adultery. This happened because David laid on his bed all day and did not take time to worship the Lord Jesus and study the Word of God.
The other example in the bible of someone who laid on his bed all day and was idle and died for his idleness was Ishbosheth. 2 Samuel 4:5 says And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth (called a man of shame), who lay on a bed at noon. Wow talk about laziness. Laying on a bed till 12 noon. 2 Samuel 4:6 says And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped. Isaiah 5:11 says Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them. I used to drink and party all night and then do the wrong thing and sleep until 12 noon. This activity is a fruit of the flesh defined in Galatians 5:21 as revellings that means staying up late in the night with loud music and drinking. With Jesus it's just the opposite. Get at least 7 hours of sleep and rise up early in the morning to pray, worship the Lord Jesus, and meditate on God's Word.
Notice the two pictures above. Who would you rather have as your cook? Would you want a famous chef in the top picture to serve you the finest of foods or would you be happy if a raven cooked you some bread and flesh daily like Elijah pictured above? Proverbs 23:1 warns us all to not be gluttons and just eat all day and not serve Jesus. Proverbs 23:1 says When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee: And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.

Choose to take time for Jesus instead of gorging yourself with food and wasting your time. We need to eat daily to survive but I've always discovered that to effectively preach, I should not eat food right before preaching. Jesus said to cast out devils we must fast and pray. Don't be like Esau at Hebrews 12:16 who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. Also remember the children of Israel who were not satisfied with the manna and desired quails. The bible says that they had to walk a day to gather the quail and work and before they could swallow the quail, they died on the quail. Be satisfied daily with the true bread of life who is the Lord Jesus and the KJV Word of God and forget about the quails of this world while you live for Jesus.
A puritan in the 1600s said Elijah was content with a raven for his cook. Daniel fed and thrived upon pulse. He looked fairer by it than those that did eat of the king's fare. John the Baptist was happy and ate locusts and wild honey. The disciples had some ears of corn for a sabbath day's dinner and were happy and ignored the Pharisees' criticism. Lord Jesus help us all to abide by Paul's instructions at 1 Corinthians 9:27 that says But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
