The Many Mountains Of The Bible

Today, let's look at the many mountains of the bible. First, pictured above we see the great Mount Sinai, sublime and excellent in solitude, robed in clouds, shrouded in smoke, and illuminated with fire. At Mount Sinai God displayed His glory by earthquakes and thunders rumbling amid Sinai's crags and gorges with lightnings blazing in zigzag paths across dark clouds. Sinai was a spectacular place where the law was given to Moses. The ten commandments that Moses received at Mount Sinai were not ghostly whispers of a dead century, but commandments that remain authoritative today.

The bible speaks about Mount Sinai at Exodus 19:18 saying And Mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire; and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. And the Lord came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount; and the Lord called Moses up to the top of the mount (to receive the ten commandments) and Moses went up.

Next, pictured above we see another magnificent mountain named Ararat. The bible tells us that after the flood ended, Noah's ark rested on Mount Ararat. Genesis 8:4 says And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeeth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. I just got to share these gems about Noah. Why was Noah the first banker of the bible? Because Noah floated his stock while the whole world was in liquidation. And what did Noah say to his two sons when they were fishing on the ark? Go easy on the bait boys, we only got two worms.

OK, next we see grand old Mount Horeb where a burning bush aflame with the glory of descendant Diety defied the laws of conflagration and appeared to Moses. Exodus 3:2 says And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him (Moses) in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire; and the bush was not consumed. Instead of the bush being on fire; there was a fire in the bush.

Alright, next we see pictured above memorable Mount Hor where his spirit ready to wing its flight to realms of glory, Aaron transferred his priestly robes to his son and died. Numbers 33:38 tells us And Aaron the priest went up into Mount Hor at the commandment of the Lord and died there.

Next look at Mount Pisgah pictured above where from whose lofty height Moses saw the land which God sware unto Abraham and was denied entrance into the promised land, because he disobeyed God by smiting instead of speaking to a rock to get water for the people.  The bible speaks about Mount Pisgah at Deuteronomy 34:1 saying And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the Lord shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan. Deuteronomy 34:4 says And the Lord said unto him This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed; I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

Then God used the two mountains pictured above named Gerizim and Ebal from whose neighboring sides the blessings and curses of God were pronounced. God said at Deuteronomy 11:26 Behold I set before you this day a blessing and a curse. The blessing was upon Mount Gerizim and the curse was upon Mount Ebal.

Next pictured above is a poem about Mount Carmel where God answered Elijah's prayer with fire from heaven. 1 Kings 18:38 says Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. Usually a fireman uses water to get rid of fire, but God did a miracle at Carmel for Elijah and used fire to get rid of water.

Our eighth mountain pictured above is Mount Tabor in whose shadow and on whose slopes the stars in their courses fought with Barak and his ten thousand men to overthrow Sisera and his hosts. Judges 4:14 says And Deborah said unto Barak, Up for this is the day in which the Lord hath delivered Sisera into thine hand; is not the Lord gone out before thee? So Barak went down from Mount Tabor and ten thousand men after him. And Barak with the help of angels defeated Sisera recorded at Judges 5:20 that says They fought from heaven; the stars (angels) in their courses (ladderway that angels ascend and descend from the captain general Lord Jesus to fight battles for saints) fought against Sisera.

The ninth mountain pictured above is Mount Moriah where under the leadership of Solomon, one hundred sixty thousand men toiled seven and a half years to build the holy and beautiful temple. After the temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70AD, the Muslims built the Dome of the Rock on Mount Moriah. The Muslims  also built a mosque named Ibrahimi over the tombs of Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebekah, Leah, and Jacob at the cave of Machpelah at Mamre.

But I have news for all Muslims over this earth. When Jesus first appears in the clouds to catch up his saints, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebekah, Leah, and Jacob will rise from their graves above Ibrahmi to live forevermore with our Lord Jesus. And when Jesus returns with his saints after the tribulation on white horses to the Mount of Olives, the Mount of Olives will split, the sealed Eastern Gate will open removing the Muslim graveyard before the Eastern Gate, and Jesus with his saints will go through the Eastern Gate to rule and reign on this earth for 1000 years in the kingdom of heaven. The Dome of the Rock and the mosque of Omar will crumble and Jesus will become king of the earth for 1000 years in Jerusalem. Hallelujah, no more Dome of the Rock, Ibrahimi, or mosque of Omar when Jesus returns to this earth to be king for 1000 years. No Muslim monument or graveyard can stop a saint's blessing.

Our tenth mountain pictured above is triple peak Hermon where Jesus was transfigured, His countenance brighter than the sun; His garments whiter than snow. When Jesus was transfigured on Mount Hermon and appeared with Moses and Elijah, Peter wanted to stay on the top of Hermon by building three tabernacles for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah. But Jesus told Peter to leave the mountaintop and go to the valley to pray for a child with a dumb spirit.

Brother Bob says along with Jesus; Saints let's leave the mountaintops of this earth to witness to multitudes of lost souls in the valleys of this world. Tell everyone to get saved, repent, decide to stop sinning, confess that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died for them on the cross, was buried, and rose again. Remember Proverbs 11:30 says The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. Luke 14:23 says And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

Our eleventh mountain pictured above is the Mount of Olives displaying sweet farewell memories, where when the clouds were His chariot and the winds His steeds (horses), Jesus went back to God. Psalm 104:3 says (Jesus) Who layeth the beams of His chambers in the waters; who maketh the clouds His chariot; who walketh upon the wings of the wind.

And the angels proclaimed that the same way Jesus ascended to heaven at the Mount of Olives; Jesus would descend in the same manner upon the Mount of Olives. Acts 1:10 says And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel. Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in the like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. then returned they unto Jerusalem, from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

The prophet Zechariah also proclaimed that Jesus would return to this earth at the Mount of Olives. Zechariah 14:3-4 says Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when He fought in the day of battle. And His feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Sinai, Ararat, Horeb, Hor, Pisgah, Ebal, Gerizim, Carmel, Tabor, Moriah, Hermon, and Olivet are all great mountains but none of them is the greatest mountain. Pictured above, the greatest mountain far above and beyond all mountains like a skyscraper that is above a dugout in height, like a tree that is beyond a twig in fruit bearing, and like a cannon that is beyond a popgun in far reaching power is Mount Calvary.

Mount Calvary is the greatest mountain because this is where Jesus was crucified and got victory over the devil for all the saints of God. Friend reading this anywhere remember that at Mount Calvary Jesus shed His blood for sinners that is the same yesterday, today, and forever and defeats the devil. Revelation 12:11 proclaims that the saints overcame the devil by the blood of the Lamb (our Lord Jesus). Every day remember the greatest mountain Calvary and tell the devil I am crucified with Jesus Christ and covered by the blood of Jesus. Tell the devil daily the blood of Jesus has overcome you devil, evil must pass over me, and I'm cleansed from all my sins.
