Some Blessed Biblical Mothers

Today let's look at some blessed biblical mothers. These mothers daily prayed for their children and taught these kids the Word of God. Our first blessed mother pictured above is Jochebed who raised Moses. The story of how Jochebed saved baby Moses' life from Pharoah is recorded at Exodus 2:3 and says She took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink. And his sister (Miriam) stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

Exodus 2:5 goes on to say And the daughter of Pharoah came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it. And when she had opened it, she saw the child; and behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children. Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go, and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee? And Pharoah's daughter said to her, Go and the maid went and called the child's mother (Jochebed).

Wow, pictured above we see that Jochebed was allowed by Pharoah's daughter to raise and train up Moses about the Word of God. I believe Jochebed was a blessed mother that daily prayed for Moses and told him the truth about the Word of God. As a result, Hebrews 11:24 tells us By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of the Pharoah's daugher. Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.

Hebrews 11:26 goes on to say Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing Him who is invisible.

I pray in Jesus name that all women reading this anywhere can be like Jochebed and see how important it is to pray daily for their children and teach them daily the truths about our Lord Jesus from the Word of God. Because Jochebed was faithful and taught the truth about Jesus daily to Moses, multitudes of people were blessed by Moses and freed from Egyptian slavery. Because of Jochebed's training, Moses chose to leave the fading riches of Egypt and instead of becoming a great Pharoah, served our Lord Jesus as a poor humble servant that led the children of God out of Egypt. Usually behind every great man of God, is a blessed mother who daily prayed for her child and shared the good news about our Lord Jesus.

Our next blessed biblical mother pictured above is Hannah praying for a child before the priest Eli. 1 Samuel 1:9 says So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord. And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord and wept sore.

1 Samuel 1:11 goes on to say And she vowed a vow and said, O lord of hosts, If thou wilt look indeed on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

God granted Hannah's prayer and blessed her with a child named Samuel. Hannah, like Jochebed was a blessed mother that daily prayed for her child Samuel and taught him about the Word of God. As a result, Samuel became a great prophet that had the honor of choosing two great kings named Saul and David that blessed multitudes of people. Note again, that behind most great men are blessed mothers.

But friend if you have an ungodly mother that denies Jesus like Brother Bob, Jesus who did the will of God will be your mother, father, sister and brother and train you to be a great man of God. Matthew 12:50 promises For whosoever shall do the will of my Father (Jesus and all the children of God) which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. Friends don't be discouraged if your family rejects you because of Jesus; Ephesians 1:6 says you are accepted in the beloved by your brothers and sisters in the Lord. Jesus will send you saved brothers and sisters to accept you into the family of God and care for your needs daily like a mother and father. Psalm 27:10 promises When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.

OK, let's see how God honored Hannah's prayers by giving her a child named Samuel. Hannah told the priest Eli at 1 Samuel 1:26 Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the Lord. For this child I prayed, and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him. Therefore also have I lent him to the Lord, as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord. And he (Eli) worshipped the Lord there.

Samuel became a great prophet because his mother Hannah helped Samuel minister daily in the temple. Every year Hannah made Samuel a little coat to help him minister in the temple with Eli. 1 Samuel 2:18 says But Samuel ministered before the Lord, being a child, girded with a linen ephod. Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband (Elkanah) to offer the yearly sacrifice.

OK, our third blessed biblical mother today pictured above kneeling and worshipping our Lord Jesus in the womb of Mary is Elisabeth. Luke 1:39 tells us And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe (John the Baptist) leaped in her womb (note that abortion is wrong because baby John was alive and recognized our Lord Jesus in Mary's womb by leaping for joy in the womb of Elisabeth); and Elisabeth was filled with with the Holy Ghost. And she (Elisabeth) spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Wow, Elisabeth proclaimed loudly that Jesus was Lord when Jesus was just a baby in the womb of Mary. And Elisabeth taught her son John the Baptist daily that Jesus was the Messiah and God come in the flesh. Because of Elisabeth ( a blessed mother), when John became an adult and saw Jesus, John recognized Jesus and proclaimed at John 1:29 Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John knew Jesus was Lord because of his mother Elisabeth's teachings and had the honor of baptizing our Lord Jesus. Again, behind many great men of God is a blessed mother. Thank you Lord Jesus for women like Jochebed, Hannah, and Elisabeth that take time to daily pray and train their children about our Lord Jesus.

Friend reading this anywhere, if Elisabeth can worship Jesus as Lord when Jesus was a little baby in the womb of Mary, get saved today and confess Jesus as your Lord, believing that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again. Repent and turn from your sins to live daily with our Lord Jesus. Become like Jochebed, Hannah, and Elisabeth as you daily meditate on the Word of God and live for our Lord Jesus daily.

Note that Simeon in the bible taught us that salvation is in a person named Jesus and not what man does. Religion is what man does. Salvation is what Jesus as God does. The only way to heaven is through Jesus and not by works. Good people who do good works without Jesus go to hell. Saved people with our Lord Jesus go to heaven. What counts in this life is what you do with Jesus. It's wrong to say if Jimmy is a good little boy, he'll go to heaven. Nope, it doesn't matter if Jimmy is good or bad that determines if he goes to heaven. What little Jimmy does with Jesus in this life determines if he goes to heaven. If Jimmy accepts Jesus as his Lord and believes Jesus died for him, was buried, and rose again, Jimmy goes to heaven. Jesus said at John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me.

God promised Simeon that he would not die before he saw the Lord's Christ. Luke 2:26 says And it was revealed unto him (Simeon) by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And he came by the Spirit into the temple and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for Him after the custom of the law.

Luke 2:28 goes on to say Then took he Him up in his arms (wow Simeon held God who was baby Jesus in his arms; just think how Simeon felt to hold God in his arms) and blessed God and said, Lord (wow Simeon got saved and proclaimed baby Jesus as God) now lettest thou servant depart in peace, according to thy word. For mine eyes have seen thy salvation (Glory to God, Simeon proclaimed that salvation is in a person named Jesus by saying mine eyes have seen thy salvation who is a person named the Lord Jesus).

Alright, our next blessed biblical mother pictured above is Rahab who hid spies of God under stalks of flax on the roof of her house from the enemy. Rahab knew to show kindness to strangers who could be angels sent for her protection. As a result, Rahab's life was spared from the destruction of Jericho by Joshua. The spies had Joshua save Rahab when he saw a scarlet thread outside the window of Rahab's house.

Now note that Rahab had a son named Boaz. Every day Rahab was a blessed mother that taught Boaz to show kindness to strangers. She would tell Boaz that their lives were spared after she had showed kindness to spies from another country. As a result, when Boaz became an adult, Boaz showed kindness to the Moabite stranger named Ruth by leaving handfuls of purpose for her as she gleaned in Boaz's field. Because Rahab was a blessed mother that trained Boaz to be kind to strangers, Boaz married Ruth the Moabitish damsel and became the grandparent to King David and our Lord Jesus.

Note also that everywhere in the bible Rahab is called a harlot except at Matthew 1:5 that says Rahab (not saying the harlot) is the blessed grandmother of our Lord Jesus. The reason for this is because when anything is connected to our Lord Jesus, sin is removed by the blood of Jesus. Rahab is the blessed grandmother of our Lord Jesus who is not remembered as a harlot but as a blessed mother that trained her son Boaz to be kind to strangers and marry a Moabite Ruth to prove that Jesus loves and saves sinners from all countries. Revelation 22:17 says And the Spirit and the bride say, Come, And let him that heareth say Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

OK, our final blessed biblical mothers today are Timothy's mother Eunice and his grandmother Lois pictured above. Because Eunice and Lois had unfeigned sincere faith, the child Timothy had unfeigned sincere faith. Eunice and Lois prayed daily for little Timothy and trained him about our Lord Jesus. As a result, Timothy became a great man of God.

The apostle Paul said at 2 Timothy 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned (sincere) faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that in thee also. Paul noted that because of the unfeigned faith of Eunice and Lois, three generations of blessed believers worshipped our Lord Jesus as little Timothy also received unfeigned faith.

Grandmothers reading this, be like Lois and take time to pray for your grandchildren and teach these precious little children about our Lord Jesus and the Word of God daily. Note that Deborah said that being a mother (not a prophetess or leader) to her little children is the most blessed job a woman can do on this earth. Deborah said at Judges 5:7 The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother (not a prophetess or leader) in Israel.

During Deborah's life on this earth, the Canaanites forbid the children of God to live in villages. As a result the children of God lived in caves, byways, and backways in the woods. Deborah said I'm gonna be a blessed mother for my kids and fight with Barak against the Canaanites and allow my kids to inhabit and live in villages again in Israel. Deborah and Barak defeated the Canaanites, and Deborah's kids were able to live in the villages again because of their blessed mother Deborah.

Women reading this anywhere, be like Deborah and remember that being a mother is the most blessed occupation for any woman. Titus 2:4 tells women how to be good wives. It says That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. A good wife takes care of her husband and the kids and keeps a clean home. A bad wife neglects her husband and kids as she runs all night with a loud mouth in the streets and leaves her home like a pigpen. I pray in Jesus name that every woman reading this will become a godly wife and serve Jesus by taking care of their husbands and kids in a clean home.
