How To Overcome Adversity

Today lets look at Joseph's life to learn how to overcome adversity. First let me state that the answer to overcome adversity is one word Jesus. Jesus said at John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation (trouble). But be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Right now get saved and overcome all adversity by repenting (making a decision to stop sinning), accept by faith that Jesus is God, and believe daily that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

OK first we learn that to overcome adversity realize that the Lord Jesus is always with you through any trouble. Pictured above we see that Joseph overcame adversity when Potiphar, his slave master, knew that the Lord Jesus was always with him. Like Joseph, people around us on our jobs will see that the Lord Jesus is with us as we overcome any adversity. Genesis 39:1 says And Joseph was brought down to Egypt and Potiphar, an officer of Pharoah, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmaelites, which had brought him down thither. And the Lord was with Joseph and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

Like Joseph, whenever you face adversity, look up to the Lord Jesus who will help you overcome any problem. Luke 21:28 tells us And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption (Jesus) draweth nigh. And know that the Lord Jesus is always with you to deliver you from any adversity. Jesus said at Hebrews 13:5 I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Pictured above we see that Ecclesiastes 7:13-14 says that God allows both prosperity and adversity. This scripture says Consider the work of God; for who can make that straight, which He hath made crooked? In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider; God also hath set the one over against the other to the end that man should find nothing after Him. This means that nothing besides the Lord Jesus can deliver you from any adversity.

In other words, whenever you face any trouble, don't react; first look to Jesus in prayer and ask Jesus for assistance to overcome the adversity. Philippians 4:6 says Be careful for nothing (defined as don't worry about anything) but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God (notice that if you look and pray to Jesus and not react to your problems you receive peace) which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

SAY THE WORDS BELOW OF THE SONG GOD LEADS US ALONG
KNOWING JESUS IS ALWAYS WITH YOU TO OVERCOME
ANY ADVERSITY

God leads us along in shady green pastures so rich and so sweet
God leads His dear children along where the water's cool
flow bathes the weary ones' feet
God leads His dear children along

Some through the waters; some through the flood
Some through the fire, but all through the blood
Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song
In the night season and all the day long

Anywhere with Jesus I can safely go
Anywhere He leads me in this world below
Anywhere without Him dearest joys would fade
Anywhere with Jesus I am not afraid

Next, to overcome adversity, be content without complaining about your present circumstance. Pictured above, be like Paul saying at Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want; for I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Notice that Joseph did not complain about being a slave to Potiphar and was promoted for being content. Genesis 39:4 says And Joseph found grace in his (Potiphar's) sight, and he served him (notice Joseph served Potiphar and did not pout and cry about being a slave) and he (Potiphar) made him overseer over his house and all that he had he put into his hand.

Friends, like Joseph if we are content and stop complaining about our lives, the Lord Jesus will promote and bless us. Psalm 75:6 says For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south (notice that promotion only comes from the north and up above from Jesus in heaven). But God is the judge, He putteth down one, and setteth up another.

Next, to overcome adversity, like Joseph pictured above deny sin through any trouble. Joseph refused to commit the sin of adultery with Potiphar's wife during his adversity. Genesis 39:7 says And it came to pass after these things that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph, and she said Lie with me. But he refused, and said unto his master's wife; Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand. There is none greater in this house than I, neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife; how then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?

Like Joseph, remember that Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Choose life Jesus instead of sin and death during any adversity. Joseph chose to live and be blessed with God instead of sinning and dying by committing adultery with Potiphar's wife.

Then Potiphar's wife falsely accused Joseph of rape and had Joseph thrown into prison. I could see Joseph saying I'd rather be in the lowest dirty dungeon with God than in the pleasures of sin without God. Like Joseph we should say it is better to be a good soldier in the army of the Lord and endure a little hardness with the Lord Jesus than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. 2 Timothy 2:2 tells us Thou therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

Let's also learn how the hawk pictured above responds to an attack from a crow. Hawks do not make counterattacks but fly higher and higher in ever widening circles until their tormentors (many crows) leave them alone. The crows can't fly as high as the hawks.

Like hawks, we need to fly higher and higher spiritually above any temptation to sin during adversity. The Lord Jesus will give us the grace to overcome any temptation to sin during adversity. Like hawks, don't complain and react to your problems; fly high above any problem with the Lord Jesus where sin is overcome. Remember we overcome sin and the devil by the blood of Jesus and the word of our testimony. Daily tell the devil and any sin I am crucified with Christ and the blood of Jesus has overcome you devil and cleansed me of all my sins.

Now take time to read a story about a large colorful poisonous spider that lives along the banks of the Amazon river to learn why to deny sin during adversity. This spider spreads itself out and looks exactly like the blossom of a brilliant beautiful flower. Bees and other insects lighting upon it expect to find sweet honey. Instead, the spider secretes a poison that drugs them and eventually kills them before they are consumed by the spider.

This spider represents sin that looks pleasant but eventually poisons and kills. Sin appears as a beautiful blossoming rose but actually sin contains deadly poison that causes death. Remember, that the only thing that can steal our perfect peace with Jesus is if we yield to temptation and sin during adversity. Jesus said at Luke 9:23 If any man will come after me, let him deny himself (deny sin), and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Alright, next we learn not to depend on anyone except Jesus to overcome adversity. You can't depend on people; Just when you need them the most; You look around and they're gone. But you can depend on Jesus who is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother and will always be there to deliver you from any trouble. If we trust Jesus to deliver us from adversity, Jesus will send angels to help us overcome any adversity.

Pictured above, we see that Joseph met a baker and a butler in prison and interpreted their dreams. Joseph said that the baker would die in three days and that in three days the butler would be restored to his butlership before Pharoah. Joseph asked the butler to tell Pharoah to remember that he was innocent and falsely imprisoned. But Genesis 40:23 says Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph (for two years) but forgat him. Joseph could not depend upon the butler to overcome his adversity. But God delivered Joseph from prison by having him released by Pharoah to interpret the Pharoah's dreams.

Take time to read the following story about how we can't depend on people for encouragement to overcome adversity. One day a great musician was playing in a public ampitheatre before a great crowd of people; The musician thought surely he was holding his audience because of his lovely music.

But after a while the market bell rang and instantly all but one person rushed out of the ampitheatre to buy goods at the market. The musician stopped playing and turned to his solitary admirer and complimented him for preferring good music over good merchandise from the market. Master the old man said; Speak up I'm hard of hearing; Did you say the market bell has rung; Why yes but why? And as the old man was running out of the ampitheatre, the musician yelled, Thanks for coming.

Like this musician, we can't depend on people to overcome adversity. These people will leave us and say it's time to watch my favorite television show; it's time to go to the ball game; or it's time to have fun with my bowling buddies. Jesus could not depend on his disciples in His time of adversity in the garden. Mark 14:50 says And they all forsook Him, and fled (even John the beloved; but John was not gone for long and was at the cross with Jesus). But Jesus is God and raised Himself from the dead to live forevermore as Lord of lords and King of kings.

Pictured above we see that in the very center of the bible at Psalm 118:8 it says It is better to trust in the Lord, than to put confidence in man. Psalm 20:7 says Some trust in chariots and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. Proverbs 3:5 promises Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Also, take time to read Jeremiah 17:5 that says Thus saith the Lord, cursed be the man that trusteth in man and maketh flesh his arm and whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness in a salt land and not inhabited.  But note Jeremiah 17:7 pictured above that says Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green, and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Finally, note the picture above that says sometimes you must stand alone. In those times God is all you need. Paul learned this and said at 2 Timothy 4:16 At my first answer no man stood with me; but all men forsook me; I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known,,and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

And finally to overcome adversity we must forgive everyone and not have any bitterness. Unforgiveness makes people bitter, ugly, mean, and nasty. Forgeiveness makes people peaceable, joyful, and removes burdens. Ephesians 4:31 says Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice. And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Note also 2 Corinthians 2:10 where Paul said To whom ye forgive anything, I forgive also. for if I forgive any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ. Lest Satan should get an advantage of us; for we are not ignorent of his devices. This scripture is saying we must forgive to overcome adversity or the devil will get a stronghold in our lives and get an advantage over us.

Joseph learned to forgive his brothers to overcome his adversity. Joseph's brothers had sold him into Egypt as a slave. But Joseph overcame his troubles by blessing these brothers. Joseph told his brothers at Genesis 50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good; to bring to pass, as it is this day to save much people alive. Now therefore fear ye not; I will nourish you and your little ones; And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

Job also learned to forgive and pray for his enemies to overcome adversity. Job 42:10 tells us And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends (the three men that constantly persecuted Job); also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

And to close this lesson, let's see what the prophet Isaiah has to say about how to overcome adversity. Isaiah 30:21 says And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner anymore, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers. And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee saying, This is the way, walk ye in it when ye turn to the right hand and when ye turn to the left. According to Isaiah, God will by His Spirit speak answers into our ears about how to overcome our adversity. In conclusion, to overcome adversity, trust the Lord Jesus, be content, deny sin, don't depend on people, and forgive everyone.

How Proverbs Describes A Fool

Friends today we will learn the many bible verses in the book of Proverbs that describe a fool. Let me state that the only way to escape a fool's destruction is to be wise with Jesus as your God. If anyone receives Jesus, they receive wisdom, avoiding a fool's destruction, because Jesus is wisdom according to 1 Corinthians 1:30 that says But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. Get saved now and repent (decide to stop sinning), make Jesus God of your life, and believe daily that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

OK, let's learn who fools are around us in this world by looking through the book of Proverbs. Avoid being a fool that is eternally tormented in hell. First pictured above we see that Proverbs 14:9 says Fools make a mock at sin; but among the righeous there is favour. This scripture says fools boast and brag about how they enjoy sin. For example, a fool brags about enjoying fornicating with hundreds of women and constantly drinking beer and taking drugs every night at the local bar. This fool does not realize that his sins will destroy him and send him eternally to hell.

Also, pictured above we see Proverbs 13:19-20 that says The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul; but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil; He that walketh with wise men shall be wise but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Wow fools refuse to depart from evil and a fool and his companions that enjoy and brag about their sins will be destroyed. Friends everywhere, stay away from the house of a fool that constantly sins smoking weed, fornicating, and drinking all day. Proverbs 4:14 says Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.  Just witness and offer the Lord Jesus to sinners in public places but do not be partakers of sin at a fool's personal home.

The book of Romans also describes a fool. Romans 1:22 says professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. Romans 1:29 tells us that these fools are filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity, whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventer of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breatkers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful. Then Romans 1:32 says who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but have pleasure in them that do them.

Wow, the above scripture tells us fools have pleasure with other fools that join them in the bars all night bragging about fornication and their drug and alcohol use. These fools know about the judgment of God and how they will die from their sins. But a foolish sinner can escape destruction and have eternal life by accepting Jesus as their God. 1 Corinthians 6:11 says And such were some of you (fornicators, idolators, adulterers, effeminate, abusers of themselves with mankind, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners) but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

Proverbs 28:13 further describes a fool saying He (a fool) that covereth his sins shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.  I've heard many a fool cover up their sin by saying everybody's shakin up, fornicating, drinking, and smoking weed so it can't be all that bad. Or they'll say my momma and grandpa sinned all their life so I guess I'll sin too. Finally others cover up their sin by saying I sin because it's just the way I am and my nature. But God says at Romans 6:23 the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Then there are other fools who say they never have sinned and are perfect like Sun Yung Moon. Sun Yung Moon is a fool because Romans 3:23 says For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Any fool who covers his sins shall not prosper. Confess and forsake your sins and receive mercy and salvation today from our Lord Jesus.

Instead of being a fool and covering your sin, speak out against sin. Isaiah 58:1 says Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgresson, and the house of Jacob their sins. Be like Billy Sunday pictured above crying out against sin by saying if I got a fist, I'll hit sin, If I got a foot, I'll kick sin, If I got a head, I'll butt sin, If I got teeth, I'll bite sin, and if I got dentures, I'll take them out and gum the devil and his sin to death.

And the book of Philippians describes a fool at Philippians 3:18 that says For many walk of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ. Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things. Wow this scripture really describes many fools around us. Fools enjoy sinning and glory in the shame of their sins and note that their end is destruction. Pictured above Proverbs 28:6 tells us Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich. Proverbs 15:17 says Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. Proverbs 17:1 says Better is a dry morsel and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices and strife.

And note the following scriptures that say fools will not receive words of reproof to correct their evil ways. Proverbs 9:7-8 tells us He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame; and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot (this means if you try to correct a fool, the fool will get mad and try to fight you); Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee; rebuke a wise man and he will love thee. Fools hate people that tell them to stop sinning. But wise saved saints love words of reproof and correction from the bible because they want to please God and be blessed.

And look at Proverbs 27:22 that says Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle; yet will not his foolishness depart from him. Solomon was speaking about how wheat used to be brayed or beaten in a mortar with a pestle hammer to remove the wheat's impurities. In other words if you beat a fool with a pestle hammer in a mortar among wheat, the fool would remain a fool or if you surround a fool with a group of saved saints in a church, the fool is still a fool only trying to blend in with a crowd of saints. Only Jesus and not people can save anyone. Acts 4:12 says Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name (Jesus) under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

And Proverbs 29:1 describes a fool that refuses to receive correction saying He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. Proverbs 7:22-23 describes fools that refuse warnings to stop fornicating saying He goeth after her (a harlot prostitute) straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter; or as a fool to the correction of the stocks; Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.

And look at Proverbs 5:3  For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil; But her end is bitter as wormwood; sharp as a twoedged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. Proverbs 6:26 says For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread; and the adultress will hunt for the precious life. Proverbs 21:9 says It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house. Proverbs 21:19 says It is better to dwell in the wilderness than (shaking and fornicating) with a contentious and an angry woman. But Hebrews 13:4 says  Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled; but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. Stop fornicating and get married by an anointed preacher and get blessed by Jesus today.

Now let's see what the bible has to say about fools that gather together in nightclubs and bars all night drinking alcohol, fornicating, and taking drugs. God calls these fools the congregation of the dead. Proverbs 21:16 says The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead. And the bible goes on to say that fools that gather together in the congregation of the dead in bars all night loving pleasure shall be poor. Proverbs 21:17 says He that loveth pleasure (partying in bars all night) shall be a poor man; he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

These fools will not receive reproofs of correction and remain in sin. It's like a man that says I was born a Catholic and I'm gonna die a Catholic. I don't want your Jesus; don't talk to me about your Jesus because I don't want to be born again. But a wise man will listen to reproofs of correction from the bible and stop sinning. Proverbs 6:23 says For the commandment is a lamp and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.

Brother Bob tells my friends everywhere don't be a fool; Be wise and heed to Matthew 10:28 pictured above And fear not them which kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear Him (The Lord Jesus) which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Someone told me that the government watches every web site you visit on the internet because ads that relate to your searches appear. But Jesus also watches everything we do daily. Proverbs 15:3 says The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. Hebrews 4:13 says Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight; but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. Live each day knowing that Jesus is always watching you and avoid sinning.

Alright, the Psalms describe a fool as a person that refuses to believe that Jesus is God. The majority of the 7 billion people on planet earth are fools because they do not believe that Jesus is God. Psalm 14:1 and Psalm 53:1 say The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they and have done abominable iniquity; (note a fool is corrupt and abominable in God's sight) there is none that doeth good. One day an atheist sitting on a porch said to a little boy walking with his bible to Sunday school, I'll give you an apple if you can tell me where God is. The little boy replied, I'll give you a barrel of apples if you can tell me where God is not.

When I think about atheist fools that don't believe in God, I think about Madalyn Murray OHair who was the President of Atheists for America that had a membership of over 10000 atheists. Madalyn was best known for her successful campaign in 1962 to have prayer removed from the classroom. But she didn't stop there. Madalyn wanted prayer to be banned from outer space.

Ms OHair after hearing words of prayer radioed to earth by christian astronaut Buzz Aldrin pictured above and his fellow astronauts as they circled the moon said I think the astronauts were ill advised and that this is a tragic situation. As a result, Ms. OHair went to Washington DC where she registered an official protest against the National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) which she accused of prompting and coercing the astronauts to schedule the prayer in outer space.

Madalyn's protest was rejected by the United States Supreme Court for lack of jurisdiction. As a result, NASA asked Buzz Aldrin to refrain from quoting the bible in the Apollo 11 mission but Buzz was allowed to conduct the first communion service for our Lord Jesus in outer space.

But it didn't end well for Ms. OHair. Ms OHair was found dead and murdered with her son and granddaughter also murdered three years after their disappearance in 1997. The murderer abducted and killed them while stealing all of the money owned by the American Atheist organization (three quarters of a million dollars). Truly Ms. OHair experienced the death of a fool described at Proverbs 11:19 that says As righteousness tendeth to life; so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

You see folks, there is no neutral ground. Either a person follows Jesus and lives or follows sin as a fool and dies. Proverbs 8:34 says Blessed is the man that heareth me (Jesus who is wisdom), watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me (Jesus) findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul; all they that hate me love death.

I end today's bible study by saying that fools don't realize the danger of laughing and telling everyone I'll be in hell partying and drinking beer forever enjoying sin with all my buddies. These fools don't realize that their sin without repentance to the Lord Jesus will place them in hell to be tormented forever in everlasting fire suffering eternally.

Proverbs 9:17 says Stolen waters are sweet; and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her (sin's) guests are in the depths of hell. Hebrews 11:25 says the pleasures of sin are only for a season. But according to Psalm 16:11 the pleasures with Jesus are forevermore. Stolen waters might be sweet for a season but the end result is torment in hell forever without any repentance with Jesus.

Pictured above note what God says to the fool that has rejected many offers of salvation from our Lord Jesus. God says at Proverbs 1:24 Because I have called and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand and no man regarded. But ye have set at naught all my counsel, and would none of my reproof; I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; when your fear cometh as desolation and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

Proverbs 1:28 goes on to say Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer. They shall seek me early but shall not find me. For that they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord. They would none of my counsel; they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. For the turning away of the simple shall slay them and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. but whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

These scriptures warn us that a fool can sin to a place where he can't return to Jesus. Friend don't be a fool and today right now stop sinning and make Jesus God of your life, believing that Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again. God says at 2 Corinthians 6:2 I have heard thee in a time accepted; and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee; behold now is the accepted time, behold now is the day of salvation.

Be Like Micaiah The 401st Prophet That Feared God

Today, I encourage all my friends everywhere to be like Micaiah pictured above who feared God and spoke the truth to 400 false prophets, Ahab, and Jehoshaphat. Ahab and Jehoshaphat wanted to fight a war at Ramoth-gilead. Around 400 false prophets were called in with a unanimous opinion for Ahab to go up to Ramoth-gilead and prosper for the Lord shall deliver it into the king's hand.

Then Jehoshaphat asked at 1 Kings 22:7 Is there not here a prophet of the Lord besides, that we might enquire of him? Ahab responded there is yet a 401st prophet named Micaiah but I hate him. While a messenger went to bring Micaiah, one of the 400 false prophets named Zedekiah put a theatrical touch on his prophecy and added a dash of Hollywood. Zedekiah told Ahab with horns of iron shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou hast consumed them. It's bad enough to be a false prophet, but to be a ham actor besides is too much.

Micaiah, the 401st prophet, feared God and didn't want any worldly recognition from royalty or 400 false prophets. Micaiah spoke the truth to Ahab saying the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee. Ahab hated this prophecy and placed Micaiah in prison, feeding him with the bread and water of affliction.

Friends anywhere it is better to be like Micaiah on bread and water with the Lord Jesus than a politician at the feasts of worldly evil kings like Ahab. 2 Timothy 1:12 says For the which cause I also suffer these things; nevertheless, I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day. Micaiah was God's child and eventually will be rewarded by Jesus with everlasting life by fearing God and speaking the truth. On the other hand, Ahab was killed at Ramoth-gilead and the dogs licked up his blood off the chariot because he did not fear God.

Pictured above be like Micaiah the 401st prophet and don't merge into the worldly fog around you. Many prophets and great men like Micaiah refused to blend into the fog around them and stood alone blessed with the Lord Jesus speaking the truth. Daniel spoke for God in the fog of a pagan empire and it was worth a night in a lion's den to be able to read God's handwriting on the wall. Elijah stood alone and refused to blend into the fog of Jezebel's priests for Baal and stooges that ate at her table. When Elijah challenged the multitude, that fifth amendment crowd answered not a word (they didn't want to say anything that might incriminate them).

Amos stood alone and was unwilling to be classed as a member of the guilds who made their living by bowing to the wishes of the people and preaching a pleasing message that would guarantee a return engagement from Amaziah. And finally Noah stood alone in a civilization of culture and progress. His contemporaries must have laughed at him as an eccentric who was building an oversized houseboat and looking for the world to end.

Pictured above it is better to fear God and speak the truth than to be wicked and blend in with this fading world. Ecclesiastes 8:12 says Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before Him. But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow, because he feareth not before God.

TAKE TIME AND READ THE FINAL WORDS OF
PATRICK HENRY'S WILL BELOW

There is one thing more that I wish I could give you all
It is the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ
With it, if you had nothing else, you could forevermore be happy
Without it, though you had all things else, you could never be happy

Pictured above we see yet another scripture saying it is better to fear God and speak the truth than to be wicked and blend in with this fading world. Isaiah 3:10 says Say ye to the righteous that it shall be well with him; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings; Woe unto the wicked; it shall be ill with him; for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

Remember, it's better to fear God and live for Jesus in a small peaceful home than live in a palace without Jesus. John 3:36 tells us He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. Right now choose Jesus and get saved; Repent and decide to stop sinning, make Jesus God of your life, and believe that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

And Psalm 34 promises that if anyone fears God and lives to bless Jesus daily, angels will always deliver them and they will have no want (defined as they will have no lack or poverty). Say out loud and believe Psalm 34:7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the man that trusteth in Him; O fear the Lord, ye his saints. for there is no want (poverty or lack) to them that fear Him. And if anyone fears God and speaks the truth, they will blessed forevermore according to Isaiah 32:18 that says And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation; and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.

A POEM ABOUT NOAH
AND THE BLESSED SAINTS THAT FEAR THE LORD JESUS

Many hundred years ago they ventured to remark
That Noah had some carpenters to help him build the ark

But sad to say on that last day when Noah entered in
Those carpenters were left outside and perished in their sin

How sad to think they may have helped to build the ark so great
Yet still they heeded not God's Word and awful was their fate

Today the same sad state exists among the sons of men
They helped to build the so called church who are not yet born again

They stay behind for sacrament; They work, they sing, they pray
Yet never have accepted Christ, the life, the truth, the way

Another judgment day will come as sure as came that flood
And only those will be secure whose shelter's beneath Christ's blood

Knowing You're Saved

Today, I encourage all my friends to look at the epistle of 1 John that quotes the word "know" 27 times, assuring people that after salvation, they will know with a witness that they are saved with eternal life that can not be lost. By faith, many times in 1 John it says after someone gets saved, they know that they are saved.  Get saved and repent by making a decision to stop sinning, confess that Jesus is God, and believe the gospel that Jesus died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again.

1 John 5:10 pictured above promises that after anyone is saved, they have a witness and know that they are saved. If you ask someone are you saved and they respond I'm working on it or I hope to be saved one day, they are not saved. You're either saved and on your way to heaven or lost and on your way to hell.

According to the bible, when you're saved, you'll know by faith that you're saved. Take time to say 1 John 5:10 that guarantees salvation to a believer in the Lord Jesus. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself (there is a witness and you know you are saved): he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of His Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

1 John 5:12 goes on to say He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life (in other words if anyone repents, confesses that Jesus is God, and believes the gospel that Jesus died on the cross for them, was buried, and rose again, they know they are saved and have eternal life by faith and not by feeling), and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

If you ever doubt your salvation, remember that salvation is not determined by your feelings; Salvation is determined by faith in God's Word. God's Word promises at 1 John 5:10 that after salvation you will know with a witness that you are saved with eternal life that can not be lost. 1 Peter 1:5 says Who are kept by the power of God (not our good works) through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

It's impossible for a person that was born to not know he was born because he exists. Therefore, it's impossible for a person that got saved and born again to not know he was born again because they are changed into a new creature. 2 Corinthians 5:17 promises Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.

Pictured above we see another scripture from 1 John that lets a saint know definitely that they are saved. 1 John 3:14 says We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. This scripture lets anyone know definitely they are saved because they know a change occurred where that saint passed (changed) from death in sin to a saved life with the Lord Jesus. These saved christians will know they are saved when they attend church and love the brethren (going the extra mile to help their brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus). Galatians 6:10 says As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

EXPLANATION OF THE CHANGE THAT LETS A SAINT KNOW HE'S SAVED

1) There is a discovery of weakness and inability without Jesus
2) Our inability is made manifest by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
3) A change begins spiritually on a person by repentance and purification
4) The change is continued by spiritual growth and sanctification by the Spirit
5) The change is completed in eternal joy and infinite glory in heaven above

The time of this miraculous change in the life of the believer
is an era to be looked back upon both now and throughout all eternity
with grateful praise and adoration

Notice also that a saint knows they're saved because they love the brethren. We know that we have passed from death to life (and are saved) (why) because we love the brethren. Saved saints love their brothers and sisters that believe that Jesus is God and are saved. Romans 8:16 says The Spirit itself (in saved brethren) beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. If I go to Zambia Africa and meet a brother or sister who is saved in Jesus, there will be an instant bond and a love for the brethren because we both have the same Father.

Someone will know they are saved when they encourage and love their brothers and sisters who get persecuted by the world for lifting up the Lord Jesus. Someone will know that they are saved when they enjoy hearing a testimony or exhortation from their saved brother or sister that glorifies the Lord Jesus. 1 John 4:7 says Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Alright, here's some more scriptures to let saints know that they are saved. Jesus said at John 5:24 Verily, verily I say unto you, He that heareth my Word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life (present tense knowing you have salvation the moment you believe Jesus is God), and shall not (in the future) come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life (present tense again knowing immediately that salvation occurred).

Jesus gives saints a blessed assurance to know they are saved. Isaiah spoke about a saint's blessed assurance and knowledge of salvation. Isaiah 32:17 says And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness (having Jesus who is righteousness according to 1 Corinthians 1:30) quietness and assurance (knowing with a blessed assurance that you are saved) for ever.

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine. O what a foretaste of glory divine.
Heir of salvation, purchase of God. Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Perfect submission, all is at rest. I in my Saviour am happy and blessed.
Watching and waiting, looking above. Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

This is my story, this is my song. Praising my Saviour all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song. Praising my Saviour all the day long.

Finally, let me state that saints know they are saved and do not worry about losing their salvation. Our good works do not save us. Ephesians 2:8 tells us For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast. Titus 3:5 also says Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

Salvation is not progressive by doing good works. Salvation is an instantaneous transformation when you are born again the moment you just repent and believe by faith that Jesus is God and the gospel. Salvation is a gift given to a believer at an exact moment in time. Salvation is not a reward to be earned with good works over a period of time. Christians do good works after salvation (witnessing and letting Jesus shine to lost sinners) that will be rewarded by Jesus at the bema judgment seat in heaven after the rapture. Ephesians 2:10 says For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works (that occur after salvation), which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

A POEM ABOUT WHY PEOPLE GO TO CHURCH

Some go to church to laugh and talk
Others to walk

Some go to church the time to spend
Others to find a friend

Some go for observation
Others for speculation

Some go to meet a lover
Others a fault to cover

But most go to church to doze and nod
But some how few to worship God

All About Jesus Not About Us

Today, I pray in Jesus name that we all can be like John the Baptist pictured above who said at John 3:30 He (Jesus) must increase, but I must decrease. We all need to be humble like John the Baptist, not seeking our own recognition but daily seeking to exalt our Lord Jesus Christ. Notice that John the Baptist always told people to focus on Jesus and not himself. Like John we all need to get out of the picture and have people only see Jesus in our lives. Like John, we all need to tell people everywhere John 1:29 Behold the Lamb of God (Jesus), which taketh away the sin of the world.

Now take time to read John the Baptist's next statement about Jesus at John 1:30 This is He (Jesus) of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me; for He was before me. Now think about this: First John said After me cometh a man (Jesus) which is correct because Jesus was born after John the Baptist. But later on in the verse John says humbly for He (Jesus) was before me, acknowledging that Jesus is God who always existed before his birth. Wow, John proclaimed that Jesus was the God man and God come in the flesh. Like John, friends everywhere get saved now, repent, decide to stop sinning, and proclaim like John that Jesus is God, believing daily that Jesus died for you on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

And notice also how John said twice that Jesus was preferred before me, not seeking any self advancement or recognition. Like John let's tell people everywhere don't lift me up because Jesus is preferred before me and only Jesus should be exalted. First at John 1:27 John the Baptist said He (Jesus) it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose. Then at John 1:30 John the Baptist says After me cometh a man (Jesus) which is preferred before me; for He was before me.

Wow, John the Baptist was so humble and wanted all the praise and glory to be for our Lord Jesus and not for himself. Many people asked John what do you think about all the people coming to Jesus and not yourself to be baptized. John 3:26 says And they came unto John, and said unto him Rabbi, he that was with thee (Jesus), beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold the same baptizeth and all men come to Him.

Look at John's humble response when people said all men come to Jesus and not John for baptism.  John 1:27 tells us John answered and said, A man can receive nothing except it be given him from heaven. Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ (wow John was humble and did not want anyone to worship him) but that I am sent before Him. He that hath the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom (John), which standeth and heareth Him rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. This my joy therefore is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease. Hallelujah, John was humble and greatly rejoiced that all men came to Jesus for baptism and not himself. Right now like John greatly rejoice and say Jesus increase in my life as I decrease where people see Jesus and not me.

Remember, pictured above like John let's all exalt Jesus remembering that Jesus said at John 12:32 And I (Jesus) (not John the Baptist or any of us), if I (Jesus) be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. People will come together and get saved only if Jesus is lifted up and not ourselves. We all need to promote Jesus, brag more about Jesus, lift up Jesus, and take a back seat, becoming nothing, where only Jesus gets all the glory.

Take some time to read the following true story about a blessed humble preacher from the 1800's named Henry Moorhouse. In 1868, Henry Moorhouse was conducting revival meetings in a little town in England and there was no moving of God's Spirit; No souls were being saved at the invitations. Day and night Henry was on his knees begging God to show him what was wrong. The next morning Henry was out walking and praying when the Holy Spirit moved him to stop and look up; He found himself standing under a great billboard which read Henry Moorhouse the most famous of all of Great Britain's preachers; Evangelistic meetings all this week.

At once, Henry knew what was wrong; He went to the campaign committee and said Brethren, now I know why there is no revival; You have mistakenly lifted me up instead of magnifying the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus and not Henry Moorhouse is the most famous preacher of all time. Henry like John the Baptist told all the saints my message is always and forevermore Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world; The billboards were taken down and souls started getting saved. Henry knew it was wrong to exalt any man; Only when Jesus is exalted will all men be drawn together where multitudes receive salvation.

Finally, notice the above pictured scripture Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. According to this scripture avoid vainglory defined as pride. Remember, the number one abomination that God hates is a proud look according to Proverbs 6:16-17. Proverbs 16:18 tells us pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Also Matthew 23:12 tells us And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

We need to get the focus off ourselves and tell people to focus on Jesus. It's a wrong spirit when churches want their preacher to be recognized; when preachers want their church to be recognized; when husbands want their wives to be recognized; when wives want their husbands to be recognized; and when parents want their children to be recognized. What happened to Jesus getting recognized?

Instead of saying you need to meet my preacher; there's nobody like him. We should be saying you need to meet my Saviour Jesus; There's nobody like Him; He's King of kings and Lord of lords, Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty (defined as God). Remember the apostle Paul's wise saying at 1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

A TWELVE MONTH DIARY OF THE BIBLE
A BIBLE WRITING IT'S OWN DIARY
EXPLAINING PEOPLE'S NEGLECT OF GOD'S WORD

January- A busy time for me this month. Most of the family decided to read me through this year. They kept me busy for the first two weeks. Now I'm forgotten.
February- My owner used me for a few minutes last week; He had an argument and was checking references.
March-Grandpa visited us; He kept me on his lap for one hour reading me.
April-I had a busy day; My owner was appointed a leader of something and used me. I got to go to church the first time this year. It was Easter Sunday.
May-I have a few grass stains on my pages now. Had some early spring flowers pressed into me.
June-I look like a scrapbook now; They have stuffed me full of clippings. One of the girls got married.
July-They put me in a suitcase today. I guess we're off on vacation. I wish I could stay at home though as I'll have to stay in this thing for a whole month.
August- Still in the suitcase.
September-Back home again. In my old place. I have lots of company. Two true stories and four funny books are on top of me. I wish I could be read as much as they are.
October-They used me a little today; One of them is sick; Right now I'm all shined up and in the center of the table. I think the preacher's coming to dinner.
November-Back in my old place.
December-They're getting ready for Christmas. I'll be covered under wrapping papers and packages.

Friends let's have our bibles write a different diary and say we meditated day and night on the Word of God. Psalm 1 promises that if we meditate and memorize the bible day and night we shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (in other words if we meditate and memorize the Word of God daily, God will fix all our problems every day).

What Will You Reap?

According to the above pictured scripture, as long as the earth exists, everyone will reap what they sow and a harvest will follow seedtime. Genesis 8:22 proclaims while the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

While the earth remains, there will always be seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night. This will not cease until the heaven and earth are burned up and God creates a new heaven and earth. According to 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the heavens shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 2 Peter 3:13 goes on to say Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Now note the law that on this earth harvest will always follow seedtime and people will always reap what they sow. Man can't change this fact. Friends we get what we plant. If we plant taters, we get taters; if we plant turnips, we get turnips, if we plant tomaters, we get tomaters. When a farmer sows corn, barley, oats, or vegetables, a harvest will follow. By sovereign decree, by sovereign declaration, by sovereign rule, and by scriptural proclamation, there will always be a harvest reaping that follows a seedtime sowing.  This is called the harvest of the soil.

Now there is not only a harvest of the soil; there is also a harvest of the soul. Take time to say Galatians 6:7-9 about the harvest of our souls. Be not deceived; God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.

OK, notice that like the harvest of the soil, there is a harvest of the soul. Everyone reaps what they sow. According to the above scripture, if anyone sows to their flesh continually, perpetually, and habitually (smoking, drinking alcohol, fornicating, using social media like facebook to satisfy their flesh) they will by an unchangeable law from God reap corruption (defined as ruin, decay and catastrophe). And if anyone sows to the Spirit by daily repenting and turning from sin, proclaiming to the world that Jesus is God, and believing daily that Jesus died for them on the cross, was buried and rose again, they will be saved and reap life everlasting.

In Jesus name, whoever reads this forevermore, it's time to make a choice. What will you reap? Either you sow to your flesh and reap the harvest of sensuality called corruption; Or you sow to the Spirit and daily live for the Lord Jesus and reap the harvest of spirituality called live everlasting. Notice Galatians 6:7 speaks to both saved and lost people; Whatsoever a man (saved or lost) soweth, that shall he also reap.

There is only one way to escape reaping corruption from past sins of sowing to the flesh. If you get saved now and decide to daily stop sinning, make Jesus your God, and believe that Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, the blood of Jesus will cleanse you of all your sin and you will not reap corruption. Jesus redeems anyone from the curse of the law and according to 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

THE FOUR PRINCIPLES OF SOWING AND REAPING
INVESTMENT, IDENTITY, INCREASE, AND INTERVAL

Investment-We reap only if we sow
Identity-We reap what we sow
Increase-We reap more than we sow
Interval-We eventually reap later what we sow

Pictured above we see two examples in the bible of people that reaped corruption because they sowed to their flesh. First, the priest Eli reaped corruption because he did not stop his sons Hophni and Phinehas from laying with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. As a result, Hophni, Phinehas, and Eli all died; the ark of the Lord was taken by the Philistines, and when Ichabod was born the glory of the Lord departed from all Israel.

In the second picture Samson reaped corruption because he sowed to the flesh and loved the world and Delilah more than the Lord Jesus. As a result, Samson reaped blindness and bondage and he had to pull the tower down in disgrace. And there are many more examples of people in the bible that reaped corruption because they sowed to their flesh. Abraham sowed to his flesh and reaped Ishmael the father of the Arabs who have continually fought against God's land Israel. All because Abraham with Sarah's consent went to Hagar who birthed Ishmael instead of waiting for the promised seed of Sarah named Isaac.

Lot sowed to his flesh by choosing to live in sinful Sodom and Gomorrah and reaped a lost family. Lot's wife looked back, desiring to return to Sodom and Gomorrah and turned into a pillar of salt and went to hell forever; Lot's two daughters committed incest with Lot and reaped the Moabites and the Ammonites who are the enemies of God to this very day.

Pictured above Achan sowed to his flesh by hiding in the earth in the midst of his tent a goodly Babylonish garment, 200 shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold worth 50 shekels. As a result, Achan and his entire family were stoned to death. David sowed to his flesh with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite. After David had Uriah killed in battle, David reaped Ahithophel, the grandfather of Bathsheba, who was Absalom's chief advisor in wickedness. As a result, David reaped corruption and the death of his own sons Amnon and Absalom.

Saul sowed to his flesh and refused to obey God's instructions from the prophet Samuel to totally destroy the Amalekites. Saul loved the world more than the Lord Jesus and spared the Amalekites and King Agag. As a result, Saul reaped corruption and an Amalekite killed Saul, and Haman the Agagite (a descendant of King Agag) was born who persecuted Mordecai and Esther.

And who can forget Ahab and Jezebel who sowed to their flesh by killing an innocent man Naboth to get his vineyard. After the dogs licked up Naboth's blood, Elijah proclaimed that Ahab and Jezebel would reap corruption and eventually the dogs would lick up the blood of both Ahab and Jezebel. After Jezebel painted her face and tried to seduce Jehu saying (Look at me Jehu), Jehu told two eunuchs to throw down the witch Jezebel from a tower (saying boys throw her down) and he ran over the old bag with a chariot. After dining at an inn, Jehu discovered that the dogs ate up Jezebel, and only Jezebel's skull, feet, and palms of her hands remained.

OK, let's end this bible study by praying in Jesus name that my friends choose to sow to the Spirit and reap life everlasting. Galatians 5:16 promises Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Listed below are ways to daily walk in the Spirit and reap life everlasting.

Live for Jesus, honor Jesus, don't grieve the Spirit, don't quench the Spirit, be filled with the Spirit, and daily be led by the Spirit. Choose to daily have the fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22 (love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance). Daily meditate (memorize) and read the Word of God and listen to gospel christian music. Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.

Every day should be sowing season to the Holy Ghost and the Spirit of God where we reap life everlasting. What will you reap? Make your choice; either corruption or life everlasting. Note that the old testament also speaks about sowing and reaping. Proverbs 4:18 proclaims But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness; they know not at what they stumble. Let's all choose to live daily in the Light of Jesus, shining more and more unto the perfect day. Jesus bless you all my friends everywhere.
